1:14 “I am not amused.” It’s really not that great at all, and the dynamics are like being caught in a whirlpool, not really going anywhere. The pace also seems way too fast for a song with lyrics that are meant to be heard. It takes effort to listen to this, and even more to watch it being performed. 6:24 I barely made it through the screams earlier. This is not necessary, neither is what follows. They’re so hyped to play the song, but it’s not as fun to hear it as they’re having while playing it. It just isn’t translating from their doing to the audience enjoying.
Festival audiences are often very lame. Bitch was just there to see Death Cab for Cutie or whatever the fuck. And that's fine you don't gel with the song, it's not for everyone. I think this era is one of their best, live-wise. There's much more accessible songs by them, like on Merryweather Post Pavillion, and also much MUCH less accessible. You think this is too taxing on the ears? Try their album, Here Comes The Indian!

i was so fucking happy i got to see this song live when i saw them. they literally played this exact version in 2013 at the Depot. It was 14 15 minutes long and it went straight into What Would I Want Sky? and i couldn't believe my mind.
