Almost perfect list so far, gotta disagree with Rosalina though. She's a huge Nintendo staple at this point. Also she's a Nintendo character, there's literally nothing stopping them from using their own character. Especially a popular such as Rosalina.

I personally think a Flower King dark world might be a Undertale-inspired one. The Fridge representing Snowdin and the Sink Waterfall. Idk what they’d do for Hotland, but it would be interesting to give OG Undertale a big sendoff by having one of Deltarune’s dark worlds be a big love letter to it.

Agreed on the weirdo villagers! My New Leaf town has a nice balance of cute/pretty villagers and oddballs, and I like it that way. It makes them feel different from each other even when they're the same personality type. Seems like a healthier ecosystem somehow haha

With Lucina back Its good enough to keep one of the important characters who saved Fire Emblem from death, despite that I preferred Robin over Lucina, I have to agree with your decision, breakable spells can be a nuisance but if they were unlimited they would be as spammy as Ness, I enjoyed playing as Robin at first but in the end……. Lucina would be a better rep

You manage to analyze so many aspects of the game (and the other games in the series) while also emphasizing your very personal viewpoints, experiences and opinions. I'm glad you mentioned the shortcomings of New Leaf, especially the skin color thing, they really dropped the ball there. Also your analysis of the mayor position is so insightful, I agree 10000% - not having perfect control over everything is essential for not feeling alienated from your villagers! I've watched other videos where this lack of control in NL (eg where villagers put their homes, what public works projects you could build, the locations of certain things) was brought up as a flaw, and each time I thought to myself, "No!! That's the entire point!! You're a mayor, not a god!! You're just some guy!!! It's part of the experience!" And you've put that into words so beautifully. You get it, man :D I'm probably at a similar place as you in the immersive-designer-continuum, except that I started playing New Leaf in 2020 when New Horizons came out (bc I wanted to take part in the animal crossing renaissance but didn't have a switch lol). So I can say with zero nostalgia blindness: It really is that good!! Anyway, again, fantastic video, I'm definitely checking out your other stuff now. Also 10000% agree with your song favorites, I don't know how they did it but 1am and 7pm are infused with actual magic

Ever since Smash Ultimate trailers stopped and Miitopia was dropped, I've been begging Nintendo for Tomodachi at every direct. I've actually been surprised in how not-alone I am in this desire.

this was a beautiful video, im a new player, i got new horizons when it released and got new leaf literally two days ago and its already my favorite game out of the two. Im more of an immersive player, about where you put yourself on the scale and this game is perfect for players like me, i love the lack of control as making important decisions about design or who moves out etc stress me out, ive reset my acnh island maybe five times and each time its been out of stress and burnout from flattening my island or just complete boredom, but i never want to reset my new leaf town because the game doesnt give me a reason to, anyways sorry about the rant but i really do love this game and your video, you really captured what it means to love acnl :) (p.s i was beetle farming whilst this was playing, why is it so difficult to catch them T^T)

I always thought New Leaf looked great, even on the 2DS.

I do want to defend Isabelle a bit here in the fact she’s one of the biggest characters for Nintendo in modern day, including the fact that Animal Crossing New Horizons became the second most sold game for the switch shows that Animal Crossing is popular. Even in 50% cut Isabelle would probably be a last resort character

I dont think Papyrus will ever go to the dark world because all monster lightners who go to the dark world get a lighter scale/fur/feather/etc. but Papyrus is bone-white and where can you go from there?

TomoDachi life was the first game I bought for my 3DS and I mean, come on, it's amazing. I would love to see a switch port. And hopefully that would show Nintendo that we WANT Miis. Do I think it will happen? I'm not sure. Will I be glad if he does? 100%. But I'm not gonna be disappointed if it doesn't either, at least not extremely disappointed. I think it's good to have hope, as long as you keep it in check so you don't get overly upset if it doesn't happen.

Look, I understand your logic for over representation for Fire Emblem because they have a different cast for each game, however that’s the exact same thing with Pokémon. Pokémon is THE #1 MEDIA FRANCHISE IN THE WORLD (even beating Mickey Mouse) and they only have two more (if you count Pokémon trainer as 3 separate fighters, which you really shouldn’t). If they really wanted to represent multiple protagonists why didn’t the do the same thing with Hero? The fact that fire emblem has EIGHT characters while Sonic has ONE is insane. And sure, it’s popular in Japan, but no where NEAR the same level of popularity as Pokemon which it’s practically tied with in terms of representation. PS You cut Ice Climbers, one of the most dominant forces of the competitive scene up there with Metaknight… but kept Min Min??

Personally, i don't think that many of the dlc characters are good ideas to keep. The reason a lot of them worked so well was the hype they produced, and you can't really recreate that. Along with that, many of them would probably be extremely difficult to get licensing for again (Sora especially would be almost impossible to get rights for with both Square and Disney apparently being difficult to get rights to characters with)

Ice Climbers and Meta Knight hurt so badly when I saw them gone. The Ice Climbers are my mains, and, while I never play Meta Knight, he is extremely iconic and of major importance to the Kirby series.

It's been awhile since I last played Ultimate after selling my old Switch, and I will say that I would keep some of my favs Rosalina and Palutena (Never played as her but I'm a n ew Kid Icarus fan so.. ye) but I personally think this could make a good roster for a Smash Reboot. Because not only do we get to keep most of the DLC fighters from ultimate, they can shake things up by updating movesets for past characters (Like freaking Ganondorf) and give them more things to accurately represent their franchises as it is currently. Edit: I kinda spoke too soon when you said "That was BABY Mode" but the final product is still a good roster for a reboot though. Honestly my preferred Smash Roster cut compared to some others
