This was actually the most useful tutorial I've had on it. It's just a voiced Chinese sh sound! I approximated the R sound for äșș (rĂ©n), but then noticed I was unable to make the sound with any other vowel following (like in "ru"). It turns out, that's just because my tongue was in the wrong position when approximating the R sound. Thank you for this!
