    Baradur was a long way from Mount Doom and Baradur was on a hill for defensive purposes. I doubt lava from Mount Doom could get to it. Actual battle axes are not like the ones depicted in fiction. They were very light and much smaller than typically drawn because you had to strike many times in a battle. You could make the axes much bigger or with more thrusting edges with mithril and still be able to swing it hundreds of times in a few minutes.

    Pro-Writer here. I would NEVER have taken the armor of the dead to Mordor. However, it was a *HUGE* mistake not to use something so objectively cool, with such a dramatic gravitas behind them in defense of the actual city of Gondor. Dispensing with an undead army “offscreen” is one of Tolkien’s biggest mistakes and is one of the prime examples of how superior his world building is to his instincts are a storyteller.

    Very interesting. When I read the Silmarillion, I do not remember "gnomes" being mentioned. But you say they were renamed as something else by Tolkien. Okay. But where did they come from? How did they originate, and why do they seem to be smaller versions of dwarves?

    • @FairlyFictional
      @FairlyFictional Před 7 dny

      Gnomes were his original name for Noldor elves. They did not actually look like small dwarves, which is why he changed the name to avoid the confusion. I made the images to demonstrate the confusion he was aiming to avoid.

    @Fairly Fictional Very happy the audio glitch was fixed - your voice and the background melodic sound came in full and bright👍. Appreciate the topical discussion as it’s not one often discussed. As for me, I think it would’ve been interesting for Tolkien to keep the original character, but perhaps change the name (which he did) only but kept everything else as it would add yet another race of beings to his legendarium. Ps. Was that background sound another from the CZcams studio or something else? It went well with your story and was quite relaxing. Would like to know what it is if possible :)
