Will AI Replace Dog Trainers?
Will AI replace dog trainers? Although this sounds like a joke, it is a legitimate question. With the advancement in AI and the advancement in humanoid robots the potential for robotic dog trainers will exist in the near future.
The first question is whether or not robots will even be capable of the task. Will they have enough empathy? Will they be able to bond with the dogs? The second question is equally important. Will people ever trust an AI powered robot with their dog?

      @SuburbanK9DogTraining oh I will definitely find you on Spotify then! I like youtube because of how interactive it is with comments directly-its sad you can't with Spotify! Lol I'll have to see what topics you've done so I don't repeat anything, I ALWAYS have suggestions. A biggie that never gets old, though, or can't be talked about enough is dog trainer/business talk and tips. Going from private lessons/private boarding to a kennel setup. How to avoid certain mistakes. Would love to hear about how to develop and build custom programs in relation to the dogs/clients as well. Having a standard few programs and/or when to make adjustments and what that looks like. Using some examples of current/previous clients. Controversial tools would also be a cool topic, such as a bonker. I've noticed over the last several years how common this tool actually is! Lol But I will browse and make sure you haven't covered topics already! Plus, reaction videos are fantastic observing other trainers, what you may or may not do differently, and that's why i love youtube too, because having the visual of the video is enjoyable but also easier to understand! Looking forward to soaking up all the info you guys share!

    I love my clients that are proactive and have me come out to the shelter or breeder to pick out their dog or puppt PRIOR to adopting. If you have a trainer, thats what they're for! I have long term clients now with 2 dogs, having never had a dog, and i got to join for the whole journey 6 werks prior to then getting their dog/puppy. Those clients are fantastic.

  • @joyfulk9services

    You guys are great! The rescue qualifications are CRAZY. So true. One of my best and most dedicated clients is a psck a day smoker. Everytime he goes for a smoke, he runs them drills in the yard. He has a dutchie and a mali, and totally off leash trained. Whenever he is smoking he is working them, walking them, or socializing them with my pack. He does not smoke inside. So that's bs lol Whag about not adopting to families without a yard?? I didnt hear you touch on that?

    • @SuburbanK9DogTraining
      @SuburbanK9DogTraining Před 12 hodinami

      Good points! A lack of yard or an owner that smokes should not be a deal breaker. A dog will be way happier with an owner that smokes but gives them a good life vs an owner that doesn't smoke and but never walks them or trains them. Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment!

      We are definitely not in favor of AI training dogs, but it is a fascinating concept. Some of the newer robots are being trained not with millions of lines of code, but are simply tasked with watching a process. After enough watching they are able to replicate the process. This is a massive change in how robots work and could allow improvements faster than any of us can anticipate. How long before they know enough to do basic dog training? Who knows? It will be crazy to see what the future holds!

      Great question! We train dogs to learn a chain of actions when they hear the word "come". Look at me, run to me sit in front of me and wait to be released. They need to perform all of the steps each time and we reward with praise or treats after they sit.

      She was actually very new to our training program when the video was shot. She had training on heel, sit and stay but this was the first time we worked on the door. Once we make a lot of progress on heel and the basic commands it makes the dog much calmer and allows training like this to go much smoother.

    What do you do for dogs that have to be walked to relieve themselves? My 5mo Golden lives inside and we do have a backyard, but we have a pet rabbit, and she is very reactive (I'm working come and heel to start bringing that down). So, I can't let her be free to sniff and go on her own in the yard. Instead, I walk her down the street. Should a restroom break be handled differently than a walk?

    • @SuburbanK9DogTraining
      @SuburbanK9DogTraining Před dnem

      Great question! I would definitely give more freedom when the walk is the only time the dog gets to be "free". When you take her out to relieve herself I would heel her a short distance (just to create good habits) and then free her up to smell and relieve herself. Good luck with that reactivity and feel free to reach out with questions any time!

    Not really related to the video, but I'll be getting two 6 week old husky puppies, and since huskies are quite unique, I wanted to know how I should treat / train them differently, when compared to other dogs. Nothing specific, really mean anything that I should do different. Made the decision of getting them before knowing about the littermate syndrom, so I'll really focus on that as well. There's still some time before they arrive, but I still have a lot to learn. Please, feel free to recommend everything that you could think of, if that wouldn't bother you, since it'd take some time. Thank you for all the content that you worked on till now. If in need of content ideas, a video focused on huskies would be life changing for me. 😂😂

      Congrats on the new pups! We have a couple of full length littermate syndrome videos that you should definitely watch if you haven't already. I would recommend diving into our puppy playlist and watching a lot of the videos on how to start training. Intro to loose leash walking is very important and is fun/easy when done right. The main things I would worry about with littermate Huskies would be littermate syndrome, pulling on leash, off leash come and resource guarding. Huskies are notorious for having issues in each of these areas. If you start off training right and work on handling exercises (we have a video on that) from day one it will make life much easier!

    I'm a CGC evaluator and would like to ask more questions about "How to Pass the AKC CGC Test" video. I would also like to see this same video performed with a dog that is more exuberant than Anakin, yet still passes all 10 exercises so that I could see how you, the handler, handles a dog that is less than perfect and areas where I, the CGC evaluator can observe how a handler may help (or "correct") their dog be successful. I get so many questions from handlers in preparation for their CGC regarding the Accepting a Friendly Stranger, Accepting Petting, Loose Leash Walking and Neutral Dog Exercises that I would really benefit from a training on each individual exercise, for example: steps to train a dog to "ignore the neutral dog, sit and not approach" the neutral dog, how do you proof that?? • @SuburbanK9DogTraining
      @SuburbanK9DogTraining Před 6 dny

      The initial sessions with a long line can definitely be a pain. Sometimes we will do training sessions with a pup where all we do is work on teaching them to ignore the long line. There is nothing wrong with doing a 45 minute session where you play with them and just focus on stopping them from biting the line.

      Having only six links isn't necessarily a problem, but it can affect the fit. How does it feel like it is working so far? Sometimes when there is a smaller amount of links the collars don't rotate well around the neck and get stuck in an awkward position. There is no safety issue or major training issue with that set up though, it just might not work as well.

I put it on her and figured it looked kind of awkward and came back to the video to reference. Was originally looking to get the 2.25 or 3 but all they had at the store was the 3.2 and 4's

    Teach the dog to automatically roll onto a hip on the down command. If they just crouch on their elbows, it's just too easy for them to pop up and possibly move away before you release them.

    What if you have two dogs , Is there anyway you can train them this together at an off leash park?

    • @SuburbanK9DogTraining
      @SuburbanK9DogTraining Před 8 dny

      Absolutely! We always train with one dog at a time first until they are doing extremely well. After that we repeat the process with both dogs together. Training them together is generally fairly easy if the first step went well.

    It would be good if you could raise or give a signal when you are using the vibration so we know.

    • @SuburbanK9DogTraining
      @SuburbanK9DogTraining Před 8 dny

      Totally understood! Luckily with this particular command the timing is predictable. We push vibrate right as we say "come". The goal is for the dog to learn that vibration=come.

    So happy that you teach positive reinforcement paired with boundaries. Most trainers nowadays only use positive reinforcement.

    • @SuburbanK9DogTraining
      @SuburbanK9DogTraining Před 8 dny

      There are definitely a lot of trainers that preach about positive only training. The issue of course is that we all need rules, boundaries and consequences in our life. Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment!

      @@SuburbanK9DogTraining I agree. Same goes for the gentle parenting movement. No boundaries or consequences at all. It seems as if the pendulum has swung to the total opposite so its very refreshing to see trainers like you who have found the balance. Its basically the same as we should deal with humans. Compliments combined with consequences... Thank you. Seeing this gives me hope ❤️

    I have a 14 yo chihuahua who doesn't give a crap about treats or toys. I bring his toy and he has 5 seconds attention. After that he is distracted and doesn't care about anything anymore😂

      Yeah, I made some mistakes on raising him. Thankfully overall he is a pretty good boy. ❤

      That is the goal! If the dog has decided to attack you the goal is to convince it you are not someone to mess with!

    What happens when your dog is a big beast of a canine & you’re only 5ft tall 120lbs & stepping on the long leash does absolutely nothing while your dog breezes right by, what then do you do for correction of disobedient dog?

      I would consider e collar training in that scenario. I would start with the vibration and see if that is enough to get her attention in those situations. Here is a link to a video showing how we start that process with a dog who has never worn an e collar before. czcams.com/video/1xnBM47shVA/video.html Let us know if you have any questions!

    "Here" works best for my dog. It's also a lot better than yelling "come" in public.
