Shinji and Kensuke both wear short sleeved dress shirts and even the prissy and arrogant Asuka conforms to Japanese school customs. But not Toji. LOL 😂 I saw an English subbed scene on CZcams where he got introduced into the show and this guy was even dropping G’s when he was talking. So yeah, this line suits his character.

It’s why your parents like the old version of a song but you like the new one. And then one day you meet someone your age who likes the old one and you realize it’s because they heard that one first. But like I said, that is not a _universal_ reaction everybody has. Part of why I think this redub works more favorably is because they got a lot of better-known anime voice actors. I’m a very casual fan of anime and even I recognized at least 3 of the voices without even having to look it up.
The original is too goofy, it sounds like voice actors putting too much effort into trying to sound natural and coming off as cartoon characters (which, yeah, they literally are, but it's still not good) whereas this version sounds much more like natural speech, like real people and not exaggerated personalities.

This scene is nothing but a bright shining lie. There is no instant cure for depression as so many on CZcams and Reddit claimed and praised this series to be. I was obsessed with the series for over a year to try and outwit the Coronavirus pandemic. It only increased the burden, and kept the memory of my friend’s recent suicide alive.
No, you're absolutely right there is no instant cure for depression. But that's all on you, and how you experience your day-to-day life. Sometimes it can be as simple as saying that you want to do better, but other times there is something that's deeper-rooted into the center of your soul that keeps you up at night. Sometimes the things that can trouble you are as simple as not being so hard on yourself and believing that your life is worth living. Sometimes it's so horrible that you are reminded of it every night waking up in a cold sweat. I've faced problems on both ends of these, and both of them got better when I finally chose to do something about it. The "cure" won't be the same for everyone and if you believe that then you're only kidding yourself. If that were true then they would prescribe everyone the same pill. It could be anything, really. A pill, a T.V. Show, a certain mindset, choosing to do something, anything. It all depends on you.
Be the light you want in the world. Pain is a burden you will carry with you always. Share it with others but don't lose yourself. You believe your heart was taken away, your reason to go on but its still with you. The people you meet and care about shape you they are still in your heart even when they go away. You are a vessel for love, share with those that still live. Don't run away. Don't lay down and die. Stop trying to fight and outwit the wrong enemy. Death is inevitable but love is stronger. It sounds so much more genuine, and expresses how happy and relieved he must feel after everything he’d been through up to that point. So much better than the original dub, if you ask me. In the OG dub, he sounds like it’s really no big deal at all. In the Netflix dub, he just sounds so damn happy and grateful and I love it.

Well Kensuke and Toji both clearly say something different in the Japanese dub too, tbh it only makes sense to make it more casual n all (I believe thats what they were going with) Kensuke and Toji are Shinjis friends who arent work colleagues so them saying congratulations in a more casual way makes complete sense especially with japanese culture.
That’s debatable. I first watched Eva on Netflix, so I’m more biased and prefer this one. But I can understand the appeal of the original since most people watched that one first.
