You could get a lot more for a lot cheaper in Pittsburgh. Your paying for the neighborhood.
Overvalued: poor choices in flooring materials, cheap & bland lighting, contractor grade fixtures and mediocre bathrooms. Good luck
The third floor is giving lofty vibes
I like lofty vibes

Wow, I canât believe everything the former tenants ripped out! Unbelievable! But itâs not a tough repair/fix. The wood floors are really beautiful, this place is definitely worth the investment.
What happened to the fireplace?
Itâs very common in these old houses for fireplaces to be sealed behind a wall. The best explanation Iâve heard is that in the late 1950s central heating started to become popular and thatâs when they started to seal them đ€
I know, also having been a realtor, to earn my way through college! Or...they took more heat than they gave, so people took them out. My husband and l have an 1898 testored Victorian, and it's an expensive old barn to heat-fireplaces and all! Good talking to you, and thanks!
Nice house đ in Pittsburgh
Lots of nice old houses with character here!
Very nice house đ for 165k in 2024.
Yes itâs a bit further from the city than many people would like but some people prefer that!
I lived in monroeville in a house đ which my parents purchased for $155,000 in the year 1995 which is worth about 333k taking inflation and cost of living increases into account
I would love to revisit Pittsburgh and monroeville in 2024.
I was born and brought up đ in monroeville, Pennsylvania which is a suburb of Pittsburgh. It was a much better city đïž in the 1990s and year 2000. I wouldâve went to Pitt University in 2001 if I didnât move to Raleigh Durham, NC.
Oh wow so you havenât visited since 2000? You should definitely come visit sometime. Iâve only been here a couple years so far but I hear a lot has changed in the past 10-15 years
@@TimRobertsRE thank you so much for your reply. I last visited Pittsburgh with my family in December 2001 at age 18.
I love these videos. I really feel like I'm getting a clear picture of what it would be like to live there. I know you ask for suggestions on neighborhoods, but family friendly neighborhoods that are walkable maybe with train or bus lines to downtown for easy access? Parks are awesome and I'm glad for your knowledge. I've looked up parts of Aliquippa and Sewickley but really open to all areas around Pittsburgh. Garage is a bonus!
Hey Anna Iâm glad these videos have been helpful! Our trains only have a few routes but a few nice neighborhoods along the train lines for example are bethel park, castle Shannon, my Lebanon beechview, and mt Washington. And if you a more of a driver there are plenty other areas to check out. As for garages it is very hot or miss. Many neighborhoods are mixed with and without garages or driveways đ Iâd love to help find the perfect place for you! Send me an email to tim.roberts@exppgh.com or any of the other ways in the video description đ
For $1.3 million I would expect a built-in elevator to get up and down 4 levels. đđ€
I heard some of the neighboring town houses do have elevators đł but yes most people who have come to check it out so far really like the house just not at that price. Always good to remember that the list price isnât necessarily the final price
Excellent video. Very direct and honest. Very cool. Thank you.
Thank you! đ
Beautiful home
I agree!
Wow!

Grew up in Pittsburgh but left in 1981. Last time I was there was back in 2003 to visit family. When you were in the Cultural District you made no mention of Heinz Hall on Sixth Street and Penn avenue which was the main performing arts center in Pittsburgh when I lived there. Just wondering if it's still in operation. Saw several Broadway plays there back in the day. Bendelum Center which you showed is a block up Penn avenue from Heinz Hall, used to be the old Stanley Theater where I saw Liza Minnelli perform in 1977 on the same stage her mother Judy Garland performed about 20 years early.
Yea sorry I kinda glazed over that area when I was walking through. But yes the Heinz hall is still in use!
@@TimRobertsRE Ok, thanks for letting me know. Glad Heinz Hall is still going strong. Good memories about it and the shows I saw there way back when.
I left Pittsburgh in 2000 and lived in Raleigh Durham for 24 years now
The benedum center in 1996 was very nice and I was in the 8th grade at the time
Unimpressive and much too expensive!
Unimpressive is debatable. Nice house in a good location. Expensive.. absolutely đ€Ł I certainly canât afford it
This is a cute house. I could never find a house here in California for this price, maybe I should consider Pittsburgh đ€
Iâve come across several people who relocated to Pittsburgh from LA and say they really enjoy it!
Seems like a nice town
I would say so! đ
I think my swollen GoPro battery was causing the weird lines in the video đđ
Weird lines or documenting paranormal activity đ€ you sure youâre not using an EMF Reader??
Iâm pretty sure đ„Č and this one was filmed before the dormont video
You should be a tour guide on the side lol
đđ I messed up so many times talking but with the power of editing it looks like I can speak in full sentences đ€«
@@TimRobertsRE ha ha I would definitely be down for a tour of Pittsburgh if you was the guide, I know you have all the details and good spots.
GREAT tour Tim! Outstanding job!!đ
Thank you Joe! đ đ
Grew up there. The houses are built to last! but don't expect the niceties of today's homes, like master baths, or large kitchens. Most won't have them. On the other hand, they won't fall apart either.
Definitely a lot of the older homes lack a few things many times even air conditioning đ there is a decent amount of new construction in the surrounding areas though
That second place is massive!!
Do you want to do the lawn? đ€
@@TimRobertsREno way! lol

The Chinatown Inn has been in the family of Ming Na Wen for generations. Her older brother runs it now.
I still havenât tried it yet I want to go soon đ
My daddy worked in a company in Pittsburgh, PA for 11 years. He was an engineer specialized in steel construction. I and my sister were born there.
Nice! Did you ever get the chance to visit?
@@TimRobertsRE OH yeah. In 1991 I and my sister visited. Also visited the homes I and my sister were born. Although the company did not exist any more, at the top of the building we saw the company's name was given. It was very nostalgic for us to go back to our childhood.
That's Heinz FIELD, not Heinz Stadium
You got me. But I mean if weâre getting technical is neither đ€Ł
@TimRobertsRE it's not that now but it was that then.
@@keithwalters1389 did you go to the 3 rivers park?
@TimRobertsRE don't know that place. If you mean Three Rivers Stadium then yes. I saw the University of Florida Crocs play a game against the Pitt Panthers.
@@keithwalters1389 this man is a trolling now đ§ we all know gators and crocodiles arenât the same thing
Iâm so over flipped houses done in gray and white with fake flooring. Itâs starting to look dated already.
đ I do think we are nearing the end of the trend. I wonder what will be the next big thing
Back in the day (1983) I had the privilege of staying in Pittsburgh for corporate training in offices at the US Steel building for 2 weeks. I stayed at Hilton located at 3 rivers park and fell in love with the Pittsburgh. I did tour CMU and the hill. What a wonderful time I had while I was there. And the people were nothing less than wonderful. Thank you for bringing those wonderful memories. Oh, I was there during the arts festival and met so many performers were staying at the hotel many of whom performed in the park. Excellent city.
Nice Iâm glad the city left a good impression on you! Seems like people are pretty polarized in their opinions either they love it or they hate it đ
This house would easily go for over $1M in Dallas.
Thatâs a lot of dollars đž actually I just finished a video on a million dollar townhouse here. It will be up tomorrow!
Thereâs a LOT to do but the PEOPLE are country dumb
2:12 What is that Pittsburgher phrase? Oh yeah! "I'm dahn here!" đ
đđ thereâs a small corner in the Heinz museum that explains some common Pittsburghese
iâve been there. beautiful city beautiful people. just donât go to philly
As a Florida native living in Pittsburgh now Iâve never been to Philly but from what I hear Iâm not missing much đ
They painted over that beautiful woodwork. A crime, I tell you!
I swear people do that on instagram just to get more views because no sane person would do that đ
They painted everything gray except for the only place that should be gray... that basement. Hire better painters... completely unacceptable not to have bright white ceilings.. which makes me believe there was nasty smoke stains everywhere and this was their quick fix.
I guess Iâm just weird but I kinda liked it đ could definitely use a variety of tones and colors though
I am in shock that anyone would paint the interior grey, grey, and grey. Was there a sale on grey paint?đ
đ well grey has actually been very trendy the last few years
No basement?
Sadly not on this one. It does kinda have that split level washing room area but thatâs about it
It's a nice split, for sure. I'll bet the interior used to be a kaleidoscope of colors, and wood paneling in the common living area, at least. And a console color TV. Is there a crawl space in that house?
đ yea itâs definitely been modernized but I liked it! No i didnât notice any crawl spaces
I guess this home was originally built for a professional upper middle class family. The man of the house at the time possibly an attorney, physician, or a mid-level executive. Just for fun one of these days, I might visit this town that gave us Mr. Rogers and rock n roller Donnie Iris.
Probably! Itâs still a very nice area I can imagine that when it was built it was even more exclusive. Itâs a long drive from Texas but worth the visit! Not gonna lie I had to look up who Donnie iris was đ
I wonder if the basement bathroom was originally just a toilet out in the open?
Thatâs possible! They could have at least used the same hook ups to create that bathroom đ€
This would easily cost over $1M in other parts of the country. I'm surprised the cost is relatively so low in today's housing market.
Yep it is definitely relatively affordable here compared to many places! Especially once you get a little further away from the city there are some huge beautiful homes!
No Pittsburgh potty in the basement?
Not on this one! đ they could have possible removed it
Interesting camera you're using. The house looks like a fun house with all of the curves.
đđ yea itâs on a 360 camera and when editing you can choose which angle you want in any direction I kept it a little too wide on this one đ€
Nicely renovated split level home, everything is new, so itâs like buying a new house! Great tour, thanks.
Exactly! They did a great job with the renovations! Thank you! đ
Don't walk around dahntahn at night. That's everything you need to know.
đđ well thatâs definitely one thing to keep in mind

Safer than walking đ¶ downtown Durham, NC at night where Iâm located in Raleigh Durham
Nice home, all the homes youâve shown so far are very clean and well renovated and show nicely, a rare treat, good job.
Thank you! There was one I did that definitely needs a full rehab with one of the ceilings caved in đ but I just like showing a variety of areas and prices đ
Any other place in America and you immediately add another zero to the price. Pittsburgh has incredible real estate deals. And to the haters on this video, your moms basement IS probably pretty nice.
đđ exactly! Nice to see a positive comment defending the burgh!
@TimRobertsRE I was a Real Estate agent in the West hills for a bit in the late Eighties. In licensing class I sat next to a lady from California. She was blown away by how much house you could get for your money, but appalled by the price of raw property. I'm now in sw Florida and it's crazy how little you get for biiiig bucks! BTW, this is a nice house for a very nice price!
