Deep in the heart of Wyoming is one of the most action-packed lines in the west, as BNSF and UP still load many trains of coal every day. • @Slim_Slid
    @Slim_Slid Před 4 měsíci

    Many SD45T-2R's than SD40T-2's were sold just like other older units by Union Pacific in 2008 during the economy crash. Union Pacific kept alot of the SD40T-2's in storage before selling the units because they planned for prolonged usage just like the GP40-2's & SD40-2's due to how reliable and verastile the units were. Alot of the SD45T-2R's went to DMIR and then after the Canadian National buyout any remainders were rebuilt into SD40T-3's. The other buyer of former Southern Pacific/SSW and DRGW tunnel motors was KCS which are all gone.

    • @jacobwoods8738
      @jacobwoods8738 Před 2 lety

      The chime whistle is for the 455 appearance I assume and 463 has had the clapper bell ringer for 3 years I want to say. The piston ringer failed and seeing as 463 was the only one to have one it seems a “regular” clapper ringer was out on as used on the K-36s. I too wish they would put the piston ringer back on, it is a nice touch, and something all the Grande locos had in the 1920s and early 1930s, and the only type of bell ringer 463 ever had up until it failed. It is a higher maintenance piece with more moving parts however.

    I am puzzled. Can anybody tell me why. Sometimes BOTH SETS OF DRIVERS ARE IN SYNC and other times they are way off. Does one set of drivers slip or what.???? There doesnt seem to be much of a load, the few cars behind it. I dont want to even think about the possibility of a slight difference in the diameter of the drivers.

    • @jamesm6638
      @jamesm6638 Před 3 lety

      the 2 sets of drivers are separate from each other, and as John said occasionally one will slip. slipping isn't just caused by heavy loads or slippery rails, it's actually completely possible to slip while running light believe it or not, even in perfect conditions... although you'd have to be pretty inexperienced to let it happen... plus just the simple act of traversing curves and switches will de-sync them fairly quickly... and I'm sure there's at least a couple thousands of difference in the diameter of each tire, especially after a little use... when you're dealing with machines, there are countless factors at play that need to be considered...
