I used to think the same thing - that talking kindly to a 'Karen' might settle them down. (And it'll work, if it's just a case of someone having an 'off' day.) But mostly, I've found they tend to be habitual offenders... with severe behavioral and/ or mental problems. I actually pity them because they have to live with themselves, in their own head, with all of that negativity... and no one who truly loves them. Even family members just sort of love them as a means of tolerance, or again, out of pity. It's all very child like and sad.
