I really don't think I would disagree with any of your picks for the E & DT spots. There's some who don't get that the 🦁's are building for rjis year and beyond. Guys like Marcus D are on-off, and I think we get him "on" vs his last season in Minny. With DJ's gap & 1/2 technique, Alim, Hutch and the right side DE should eat. With their improved secondary, AG will dial up run/pass blitz packages that will greatly impact the game. AA, BB, Iffy, Amik, Kerby or "pick somebody" on a middle or edge blitz would be deadly!!👀💯🎙🎬👍🏾👍🏾

I don't think the Lions staff is going to over think this roster. None of these UDFA who are unproven will take a roster spot from a veteran, if the Lions want to get back to playoffs. Marcus Davenport has been on an off IR since he was drafted in 2018,with a plethora of injuries, I don't know why people assume he is a starter. Betts is more hype than substance ,the CFL OL is bottom tier players that probably would not make an NFL practice squad. I disagree that Betts is an upgrade from the Owakara's.

Solid. I think Betts will prove valuable against mobile QBs. The CFL has a lot of play action with mobile QBs. He should be familiar with his role in combating this. I think Levi will prove a stud this year as well. He might not have good endurance and tolerance but he strength will be there. In general Lions D-line may impress right from the start and have depth through the season. Gonna be exciting to watch.

Unless Badgley is hitting from 58 and beyond consistently ( at least 85%), Jake Bates is the kicker, with so many trick plays, of any fails, may be withing range of Bates. Plus he is accurate (77%), 4 misses just beyond 55 but all 4 makes above 60!! No brained here. Never put him on practice squad, rival Green Bay will snatch him immediately!!

I couldn't agree more. I have been saying this all along. I kind of see him as the Kalif Raymond of the D line. He is versatile, does the dirty work, does them consistently and effectively but doesn't grab your attention. and can ALWAYS be counted on to do what he isvtasked to do. He's the "glue guy" as Coach Campbell says. I love JP

I don't see Betts excepting a practice squad spot. Remember the Bears offered more money than Detroit? but he turned them down so unless he's awful (which if thats the case he'd probably just return to the CFL) I would imagine Chicago would steal him off our PS. Preseason along with training camp will be huge for him. Im rooting for him.

I see 4 tight ends and 5 receivers as more likely. Remember how pissed lions fans got when tight ends were mocked to lions in 2023? We really thought wright, Mitchell and zylstra were good enough..I think they led the NFL in TDs for tight end groups. But who is more likely to be poached, zylstra or Isiah Williams? If you think zylstra is more likely to sneak through than go with 6 receivers

Lief has been a big play guy, and he blocks way above his weight class. I think he needs more targets, but maybe not WR3 type. I believe he will split those duties with DPJ.

You're describing Paschal as a bust. He was picked at the top of the 2nd rd and you have him as a rotational piece. Marcus Davenport hasn't played in 2 years wasn't on the field for OTA's yet you're penciling him in over Paschal? That's concerning, I hope you're wrong. I felt pretty good about Josh going into year 3 i was hoping maybe he and Jamo take that yr 3 leap especially considering both have missed time but now im not so sure.

Josh is better playing the interior. His greatest impact will on the interior. He does not have the trait to be a high producer as an outside pass-rusher. I watched his college tapes seem like they used him more inside.

People were melting down over this dude pre draft. It was ridiculous. He was a 2nd round pick 2 years ago. He can play RDE and bump inside. No idea why fans were so adamant the team was doomed if they didn’t draft a DE. If a 2nd rounder can’t fill that role, Holmes is not what people think. Paschal needs to be given a chance.

I just hope he can take his game to the next level we need someone that will help McNeil and AH out bad

15 tfls and 10 career sacks is way way low when he has 7 and 3 already. Hes played 22 games but limited snaps in most games because of injuries. If hes really healthy finally, just like Levi, he can have a bigger role based on camp and preseason

I have a question, how do they determine which DT plays next to Hutch? Is there a certain spot to put your best DT at as far as which DE he's next to? If McNeil and Reader start, how do they determine which one plays next to Hutch and which one plays next to Davenport, if he's gonna be the DE starting opposite of Hutch?

Thanks Anthony. Finally some good news about Levi. Hopefully he can be a great backup.

With all the positive news that's been coming out, I'm cautiously optimistic that he can be at least a role player like you were saying. Before OTAs I didn't even expect him to make the roster, so he's improved my opinion of him. My thoughts were never anything to do with his talent level or skills, just his ability to stay healthy enough to play. Back injuries, especially back injuries on a big man like Levi are very hard to recover from. I know that from personal experience, I know now I could never do half of the things I used to do without thinking before my back injury. Here's to hoping he can defy the odds. Go Lions!

i hope levi does have a good backup season with like you say 10 to 15 snaps a game. having had 5 back surgeries myself. i know just how lingering a back problem can be. if he can put in a whole season like that it would be a good sign that can play in the nfl and help the team. if he can give the lions a good 5 to 7 more seasons plus a few more snaps per game after this season. i would call that a success for him. i wish him a lot of luck and praise for the hard work he is putting in to make a come back from his injury.
