I love trees, but the suburbs mean tiny trees if at all. It depends on how big the lot is. The roots will only be trouble down the road, not to mention the money to make repairs they cause in plumbing, drainage, septic, against the foundation...

Gee Whiz! Why do these "masters" of pond and Koi always fill in the best part of the pond for the fish? The moment you utter "fish" you are committing to some maintenance and some of which isn't always as much fun as over feeding Koi. That deep part offers security to the fish and stability to water temperatures.

I don’t feel landscaping with an unlimited budget is that much of a challenge. I would like to see what you could do with a city scape 80x130 and a $4000 budget.

Are Nellie Stevens high maintenance? I really want to plant a row of 16 on a property line, and will need half of them to be 12 feet tall max. Do they really grow 3 feet a year and to 25 to 30 feet tall?

I like his designs as a whole. However, I don't agree with the amount of shrubs/perennials he uses for every project. Doesn't seem to be taking too much consideration into the size each of them will eventually grow to be. Who cares there, right? That's way in the future and he'll be long gone onto the next project so it bedcomes someone else's problem. HO gets suckered into purchasing way too many plants just to get suckered again to eventually have them removed or severely cut them back.
