funny i never felt this game was too hard or something. sure i had my frustration with it back when I was a child since it was my first videogame series on ps2 ever but this video is the first time I learned that the majority of players seem to jump/spin/shoot and while that sometimes is a good move it's never the best one and of course not always. Damn that opened up my eyes and it is kinda sad

I've always used the scatter gun on the water slums mission (and honestly i use it for most of the game) and never had any trouble with it. Its range and spread is perfect for the KG jumping out of the dropships, and still far enough away to avoid the dropships turret.

I think that original idea of the Day Star being a planet builder didn't imply it wasn't the Precursor robots. Maybe it was like a carrier and refueling station for them. Like it supplied the Eco that powered them and that they used as the building blocks for planet building.

I’m so happy to see the last guardian in the S tier. One of the most unappreciated games of all time

The Jak and Daxter series had the potential to be my favorite game trilogy of my childhood, unfortunately it was beat out by Sly Cooper by leaps and bounds simply because Jak 2 is way to difficult. I know because a few years ago when I got the Jak and Daxter collection I breezed through The Precursor Legacy like it was nothing, 100% completed the game in a day unlike I could ever do when I was 7, but when I got to Jak 2 it was almost as if nothing had changed in 15 years, I mean I did much better but every really difficult mission took dozens of attempts and eventually I just got frustrated and bored, I think it was the races. Every 2 or 3 missions in Jak 2 you are going to spend hours grinding out attempts on some painful bullshit, and being an adult has taught me more then anything when to give up because it's not worth it. The Sly trilogy on the other hand is much easier and if you are failing it is more often then not because you are not being careful enough, but with the Jak trilogy it is always because you are not being reckless enough, you are not taking every shortcut, you are not playing as dangerously as possible despite knowing there are no checkpoints.

Yes! Amazing guide and exactly how I would and always have played the game. Yes it's hard but I've never found it unfair and always a game I've had find memories of and love to replay.

The 4th game can pick up after 3. Jak and Daxter age throughout the game. The end could be Jak becoming a precursor, sage or dying. Naughty dog claims they want to stick to solo based games ( excuse for no factions 2 ) Nows the time !

So, from I gathered with this video, playing this game with the “oPtImAl StRaTeGy” makes this game stupid hard. … Based on my experience and how I played the game - similar to how you did - this checks out. I was able to beat the ‘impossible’ Seal Piece in the Slums mission in a few attempts. Just stand back and take the shots with the Blaster; no trouble.

I recommend using the peacemaker when you get it more often. I recall enemies dropping ammo essentially as often as I spent it. Especially against human enemies

Anyone coming back to view comments, a fun nod to jak 1 in jak 2, the bomb jak throws at the bone lurker in the initial cutscene are the same bombs shot at you during the destroy drill mission where you untether 24 tethers whike jet board grinding, the guards shoot the same jak 1 bombs at you :) also the pinky lurkers driving the small blimps are the sameas themountain pass racers in this zone

The fact that off camera Krimzon guards doesn't hit you with the first shot, is a really cool and fair game design choice

Gotta say, the incredible jump in model and animation quality from 2001 (1:55) to 2004 (2:03), just 3 years and both on the PS2, absolutely insane!! Great work, Naughty Dog

Fun fact, you can Dark Jak Bomb the water on the Dock mission and then just swim/hoverboard under the enemies. This only works in Normal and not Hero Mode.

I like how instead of mindless killing machines, the metal heads are actually intelligent and will rely on strategic ways to attack.

I think the “boom stick” is probably a reference to evil dead/army of darkness/ash vs evil dead. Which I think is fantastic

From the very start you talked about spinning and shooting? People do that? From the very start of the game I tried it for a laugh, realised I wasn't hitting anything and switched to other methods. Other people haven't done the same?? It pains me to see the footage of people trying to hit enemies that are far away using this instead of just aiming the gun normally, honestly..

Lost frontier was my first jak and daxter game - I've got it on psp when I was about 9 or 10 years old. Now after I've played the whole series I can see how it was arguably the worst one, but when I was first playing it I loved it
