    I'm having this exact same issue with my 2005 CR-V. I'm going to clean the VVT solenoid and see if that helps. If not, I'll probably try your current resolution idea. Thanks for posting this video!

    • @PatsPlatesPv
      @PatsPlatesPv Před 28 dny

      So ultimately I wasn't able to resolve the problem. I tried the engine clean, ⅕ transmission fluid, changed the oil and the filter. I changed the rear spool valve and filter, the VTEC and filter. It would run decent until I needed to run the AC and came to a stop which would drop the rpms too low at idle and it would struggle and die. I replaced the engine with a used one and it runs fine now with AC. I believe when the original engine was "rebuilt" the mechanic didn't properly clean the oil passages which created the problem. He replaced the the timing belt, pistons etc but on the last oil change, there was what looked to be main bearing metal in the filter when I cut it open to check. That was the sign for me to give to give up on the original motor and use a used one.

      @rellimsevens Před 27 dny

      @@PatsPlatesPv Holy shit - sorry to hear it had to get that extreme. Glad it's running well now though. Fortunately cleaning the VVT resolved my issue - so far so good. Although during the process I discovered my oil tank was empty despite having an oil change 4 weeks prior - sooo not sure where my oil is going but now concerned about that.

    • @PatsPlatesPv
      @PatsPlatesPv Před 27 dny

      @@rellimsevens That is serious! Find that leak. I had a pretty heavy leak coming from what looked like my rear spool valve gasket or the oil sensor below on my 2006. I just had it cleaned and am looking to see where it's coming from. Low oil will also cause VTEC issues because of insufficient pressure I read.

    In my Toyota I have this stuff that look like coffee grounds on the plate under the oil filler neck, under the valve cover. I hear the grittiness of it every time I stick the funnel in when I change oil. The car has full dealer service history, so it's not the lack of oil changes. Been doing oil changes myself since I bought it used, and I use that FL-400S filter, since it's for 3L V6 engines, and Motorcraft is a licensed Purolator just like Toyota OEM filters, but with better microns on this larger filter.

    Besides being bamboozled, too much oil puts too much pressure in the system. That can often blow out your rear main seal between the engine and transmission. Thousands to repair or replace seeing how they have to tear the block down to get to the seal.

    The U.S. and I guess Canada are a few of the only places on earth that pedestrians have the right of way. In most countries of the world vehicles have the right of way. In some countries, if you get hit by a vehicle crossing the street, its your fault. You can get hit and be injured so bad you go to the hospital and if the collision with your body causes damage to the car, you will be held liable for the damage!

    There is a new one at El Paso oil change places. When a newer car comes in and they check the anti-freeze, they use an eye dropper to suck some anti-freeze out and squirt it on the hoses connected to the radiator. Then they ask you to take a look and see how you are leaking anti-freeze. They tell you how it's going to be covered by the warranty but they wanted you to know how eagle eyed and helpful they are hoping you give them a fiver for being so good.
