I have always loved Arabians! My first horse was a registered half-Arabian. My dream was to have a Sheila Varian Arabian and I did have one of her awesome horses, Gold V!

Many people are shocked when they realize that my horse is an Arabian. They think they're all these flighty, hard to handle horses. They're not. Once I even had someone ask me if she was an appaloosa. (She's a flea bitten gray) I have no desire to own any other breed. I don't know anything about her bloodlines because she's a rescue and came without papers.

Here’s a head-scratcher for you; the Appaloosa breed is genetically more closely related to horses from Central Asia than to Spanish breeds. This then begs the question why? If they did not obtain horses until they were introduced by the Spanish, why do the horses bred by the Nez Perce have distinct genetics?

I breed Asil horses in the USA. There is some false information in this video. Al Khamsa is an organization in the United states, that keeps track of living Asil (pure) horses in the USA, and their pedigrees, tracing back to the bedouin tribes in the desert. The organization called Al Khamsa, is named after the bedouin story of Al Khamsa. All horses that qualify as "Al Khamsa" in the USA, are Asil horses. Fewer than 5% of all registered "purebred" arabian horses in the united states, qualify as Asil/Al Khamsa. Meaning that they can be traced to their root ancestors, in the desert, with absolutely no admixture of non arabian blood.

There are some animals that transcend biology and are more than the sum of their parts, the lion being one..another being the Arabian, sometimes I just watch the videos of them and each time I am moved by their beauty, their character they may just be the pinnacle of nature.

That is until you stop watering the Appaloosa genes down with any old nag, better give it another name like Shetlloosa, Appacob, DartmAppa, coz it sure ain't a pure breed! My daughter has a dog, a cross between two breeds and commonly known as a CockerPoo, no different!

The first thing I know about the American Paint is that you should call it Benjamin Moore!

So an Appaloosa is just a Grade horse. In that case, I've got some lovely Alsation pups if you want one, the Bitch is a Champion of Crufts and the sire is a ratting Jack Russell, beautiful Alsation pups. This can't be right! The breed must be fortified with the Appaloosa gene only. Sort it out and stop watering down the bloodline!

Very interesting video. Good production! I am amazed at their sense of taste--that is some very unusual plants equines find edible--and even delicious. My QH used to love nibbling poison ivy leaves from a vine. How he could do this--and the other horses, too--without getting in the least bit disoriented or nauseous was quite striking to me. They suffered not in the least from this noxious weed. Pretty sophisticated digestive system for a non-ruminating herbivor.

I used to breed & train Appaloosas!
