Moss Piglets (Tardigrades), Ciliate (Suctoria), Nematodes and Rotifers (V.2)
Just two tiny samples of moss taken on our Sunday walk from Cuffley to Northaw shows an abundance of life under a microscope.
This is also an experiment in AI music... I typed in a "style", some words, and A.I. did the rest. All very clever. ...But turn off if it's annoying!

Celestron CGem DX Mount has stopped working HELP!
zhlédnutí 121Před 5 měsíci
My CGem DX eq Mount has stopped working. Just the initial alignment. It is as if it thinks its located in Southern Hemisphere or something. It wont do an initial alignment without slewing into the ground, and I cannot do a proper alignment routine. But if I find, say, Jupiter, it tracks perfectly. Firmware updates done, factory reset done, internal battery changed, change of handset doesn’t sol...
Satellites, Aircraft and Clouds. (And Markarian's Chain too)

Two hours of attempting to capture Markarian's Chain last night. This video shows the "fight" to capture data from tiny, distant and faint galaxies up to 70 Million light years away with my telescope from my light polluted back garden, in cloudy North London. A multitude of artificial satellites and aircraft photobomb 80% of the frames, each of 90 seconds. Taken with 100mm refractor, ASI2600MC-...

It is a nearly perfect sphere of hot plasma heated to incandescence by nuclear fusion reactions in its core, radiating the energy mainly as visible light and infrare...
Rotifer, Tardigrade and Nemitode home microscopy
zhlédnutí 81Před 3 lety
Just found in a tiny bit of damp moss in my garden... 0.5mm Rotifers, Tardigrades, Nemitodes and an unidentified segmented worm, possibly an insect larvae? Look at the water current while the Rotifer feeds, the tiny crown of scilia appearing to spin, directing food into its body. What a fascinating invertibrate and very good reason to discourage kids from eating moss! Magnification about x300. ...

Bdelloid Rotifer x400 Magnification, lightfield, found in a pinch of rainsoaked moss in my garden. Rotifers, Nematodes, Tardigrades and various bacteria are all incredibly common and easily seen under a basic microscope. Mostly invisible to the naked eye.
Tardigrade (Take Two)

Whilst cloudy, I thought I would get my microscope out! Amongst a tiny sample of moss in my garden (absolutely teeming with microbial life) I found a Tardigrade also known as a Water Bear - first attempt - which is an eight-legged segmented micro-animal and quite an incredible creature. Second attempt, taken with a basic stereo microscope, ASI120MC Planetary Camera (and some gaffer tape), Firec...

What's frustrating is that no matter how many videos about science I watch, almost nothing sticks to my stupid brain. Like, say I read or watch a video about why the sky is blue. I can explain it well enough a few hours later. Fast forward 3 days, and I can't even remember the overall explanation, let alone the details :|
Funny. And true.
Why is every other comment about ‘how it was better in the old days and how you don’t get tv like this anymore? Don’t watch tv today. Go on CZcams and watch this all day
It's Brilliant. Really loved it Stephen.
I have listened to him so much, I feel like he's a friend. What a marvelous bi-ped.
Listening to this when we've reestablished contact with the Voyagers, I think Carl would have been proud that they are still going and there is a small dedicated team just to stay in contact with them
She had a lovley chest ! i was only 6 at the time but she looked a real goer even then, i guess they dont make em like that anymore
To speak with cathartic eloquence of the sort which arouses interest in most, while defusing chauvinism of kinds one did not know to be extant. Carl's oration is presumably the best marriage by far, of science communication and poetic linguistics, ever known to life on earth.
The microphone is clearly a phalic symbol of domination over his victims
I have many happy memories watching this line up of the Bootlegs. Thank you guys and RIP Andre Barreau
M8 you are one of a (Special) kind...
It is a privilege to have lived in the same time period Carl Sagan, he was passionate about science and sharing that passion with others. We will never see his like again. Even if there are highly intelligent people who are just as passionate about knowledge they will lack his stoic nature and objective honesty.
Brilliant dont made fantastic shows like this anymore 😂
She has her sweater on backwards.
The Eternals - Hey Jude The Eternals Last Beatles Song In South Korea, Unfortunately The Eternals are taking a long break from Performing on stage, but they will be back on stage very soon.
Thank fuck E came and delivered us from straitght peg nonsense
Yeah am 50 now a watched this show all the time a thought you were brilliant pal these were the days still funny ma lady.
Many thanks for your reply! Yes, I have tried a few things... The mount DOES always seem to know where Home Position is, and once a target has been found, seems to track perfectly. But the good news for me is that I think I might have sorted it this weekend. I just need a couple of clear nights to confirm - cloud-solving right now! I suspected the hand controller so took that apart and gave it a good clean, especially the contacts and rubber actuators. What (I think) made the biggest difference is removing the caps off the motors and cleaning behind the optical encoder wheels(?) and optical sensor with a fine cotton bud and Isopropyl. I am somewhat amazed that any level of accuracy can be achieved with these tiny plastic wheels mounted on these small motors, but there we are!
You may have already tried this but.....Have you disengaged the clutches on both the RA and DEC, and send the command to park the mount? Then manual placed the mount into the parked position and then reengaged the clutches, then attempted to slew to a target? If that fails of failed, use ascom drivers and a program like NINA to try to control the mount directly bypassing the hand controller. Have you done any plate solving and compared the results to the hand controllers reported position? My initial reaction is the mount doesn't know where it's orientated to begin with.
At 20:23 you can actuallly hear that volcano erupting... 😅
Is her shirt on backwards ?
Radio genius. 14 years on.
What a man, what a mind , moves me to tears to think of what would have been , if he was still around. How sorely the world misses this renaissance man.
So this mf has jokes huh??
Classic that Sharon ,i can actually remember that ,seems like yesterday.great viewing.its a pity they dont make shows like that any more. Kind regards.
Omg, he starts with “Man” being sexist. What a simp. Would he be anti science T crazed today? I think so.

I do remember seeing some episodes like this and liked them a lot. It was the bleeps that they used in the show that always make me laugh with any show that uses them.
I love this full live version of the song!
Early days when he was less recognisable makes it even better
I'm in love with this human being, and I've been ever since I was of age to actually pay attention to his work and his. Apart from his brain, of course, I particularly love his sense of humour and his ability to communicate.
So freaking fake,Can't believe we watched this shite..
I am so glad I grew up watching quality tv like this.
Now compare *this* kind of true masculinity to taint's spewings.
Makes Ant and Dec seem brilliant 😵😵💫😉
Jeez some of the comments to this 80's prank in 2023 are unbelievable. Reading through them, some people don't get it while others are complaining. Wow f*cking unreal and how the World has changed. Give me the 80's over today.
The fossil fuel industry works hard to undermine the science presented here.
The energy industry loves climate change. It means more money for less work.
it was his own fault for parking so close the the car transporter in the first place. It's not funny as it really does happen!
Know your place, filthy humans.
The planet does mean anything without us,
If the idiot hadn't parked so close in front of the truck he woulda had roon to pull out. I see this time and again. Idiots parking to close to people then getting blocked in
You know you play GTA4 Or 5..we need a british GTA and this kinda thing on the Radio 😂😂😂 love you Bazza ❤
Im addicted to barry. Ive been allover YT looking for him for the last fortnight. Ever sice i saw his carpet right radio advert😅
I'm really pleased. Have you since checked out the Angelos and Barry podcast? It finds its feet quite quickly as being utter surreal nonsense and quite mucky
@powderedground78 yep I follow it every week I also Saw Clinton Baptistes Rollerghoster in York in March. He was fantastic
I like listening to thes lectures but don't appreciate the mocking of the 6 days of creation belief as if it's somehow more stupid than the notion we exploded into existance from nothing.
Except for evidence of a cosmic explosion.
Everything should be mocked
