You’ll find they don’t just do country. In fact, I don’t believe they began as a targeted ‘country’ group. They decided yo embrace it for The Sing Off. They really do a variety and that includes a lot of fun and goofy videos.

Hey man. I wanted to let you know, you taught me throat bass in your Helium Requiem reaction video. Literally no other CZcams videos could teach me, and you did it instantly with the way you described it. Not only that, you described it so well I could tell I'd be able to do it before I even tried it! Rather than starting with a clearing the throat sound, grinding it forward from a normal note felt safer and helped me find the sound. It makes sense that you could teach beatboxing techniques so well, especially for vocal related techniques that you know, since you yourself are an opera singer with classic vocal training. I think you could be super successful teaching others in this way, since I think you have a gift for it and are the most qualified on CZcams to do it. Thank you, and I'd love to learn more from you!

I’m honoured that someone that clearly has an in-depth understanding of music could pick up on the intimacy and raw feeling that I had to capture through the production. While of course that raw intimacy already existed in the performance, maintaining a crystal clear & impactful sound quality whilst respecting the nature of the performance was a real challenge and if someone like you can hear it, I know I’ve done a good job. There is a live version of the song by Disturbed. Search for 'Disturbed, the sound of silence on Conan O'Brien. He had a cold during this performance. :) You should also check out their cover of Sing's song If I Ever Lose My Faith in You.

That little cascading bass sound you were asking about at 9:34 is Geoff double-tracked and singing slightly different notes on each one to give it that odd eerie quality. He explained it on one of the Patreon chats because a lot of us wanted to know!

I love your enthusiastic and informative reactions- thanks! Voice Play are the kings and masters of anything spooky, creepy or Halloween themed. Geoff, his wife Kathy, and other members of Voice Play worked as performers for Universal theme park- the "Beetlejuice Rock&Roll Graveyard Review" and the annual, month long 'Halloween Horror Nights". They have several covers from 'Nightmare Before Christmas' and "Jack's Lament" on Geoff's solo channel is stunning and not to be missed- trust me!

I am a Pentatonix fan and this performance is my favorite for showcasing the individual talents and also enjoy being "Mitchslapped." I realize this reactor is an opera singer and can imagine the beauty of his voice just from his speaking. This is amy favorite reaction of PTX Halleluyah because his reaction to the sounds is how I react inside. Someone pleade reply with his name so I can find his singing voice.

A bit of a story. My first experience with Voiceplay. I believe, was their cover of "Phantom of The Opera," way back in the days Tony Wakim (co-owner of Pattycake Productions with Layne) was still with the group. I'm something of a snob as a Phan, having been fortunate enough to see Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in PoTO onstage. Not just everyone can cover it. So when I watched a minute or two of Voiceplay's cover, I didn't know it was Acapella and didn't care for it, because it was so different from Crawford and Brightman's version. Sometime later, I came across Voiceplay's "This is Halloween," they've done almost every song from "TNBC." I watched it, liked it, thought the singing was great, costumes were awesome, and that the vampire was super hot. So I watched a few of their videos, casually, and thought they were really good. *_THEN THIS ONE CAME OUT!_* It blew me away. Whooosh! Just gone! The low note at the end was like nothing I'd heard before. I watched it SO many times, shared it with everyone, and was dead on in love with Voiceplay. For many people, it's a gateway video for them to discover this amazing group. I haven't looked back since. And I'm such a happy Voiceplaya! I like some songs, love most of their songs (nothing falls below a "like"), and their guests and lineups. They make me feel better when I'm down. So it's so wonderful watching other people discover them. Thanks for a great reaction. Oh! And I love their PoTO cover now! 💙
