Bane Overlord live in downtown manchester
Oh boy can’t wait to get a seizure
<3
Damon’s very early stuff was so distinctive and so visual No wonder he was asked to do soundtracks Brilliant
When I lived in Manchester in the late 90s, this soundtracked every happy moment and every sad moment. Still does. Magical.
I love this song
Still here in 2020.. love this track. Would love to know the split of contribution between votel and Damon on this.
You need to pull up them britches and quit showing your drawers
Awesome track, top video. If they ever find where those creepy number stations emit from, these guys are in the room behind the mic. Superb.
Anybody get a 1960's feel from this song?
Imagine Night of Nights played this way
I tried to be in this video, I had a recorder and a sailor costume - but couldn't find them! Shame.
brilliant
It's Good but Had bad time Southport
watch this at x2 speed
WHO
Film . . . Analog
According to A.L. Rees this was made in 1957...
that's odd. i came to listen and didn't know i'd commented before. okay, i'm talking to myself.
Super Mario owes him his life! Hehehe
Illustration composer... This guy was something!
I thought this video was lost forever, great day and great hangover cure, that's me at 3.05.
The short Mclarens Negatives shows a bit of the process
I forget, then I remember Why Thank you BDB
Remarkably similar to a mushroom trip.
Did… back in College… spectacular!
I remember being part of this filming in Southport. Great band, great tune, great days.
Did he create the music for this too? I love it.
I first saw this film in film school back in the late 70s. I was dumbfounded by its haunting beauty and haven't been the same since.
Sorry I never replied, just saw your response tonight, listening to D.O.T. again. Yes I really do wish we had a chance to work on it. Still so sad, indeed.
its amazing this has been made organically, without the need of software. Beautiful.
Why didn't he?????
Oh no! Doleful Lions - Dave put me on to you so I bought some of your stuff and loved it. He said you were working together on his forthcoming album. I added you on Myspace a few years ago and it never occurred to me you didn't know, I'm so sorry. xx He was great, it's nearly been 10 years now and it's still so sad.
I can understand where you're coming from and what you mean by that. It really shows that technology has advanced during the past 50 years... we have internet now and can just see lots of work digitally and easy criticize about beautiful original works like this, coz it's been flooded with thousands of other video works.. but one thing you need to know, and it's so important--this film was done in 1967. THERE WASN'T iMovie, computer didn't existed then. aint that something!?
Lovely to watch, but I would have enjoyed the film more if the music had been something other than a numbing, celestial drone. I grew tired of it very quickly.
@hgrosser2 Thanks, will do
This reminds me of when my Atari 2600 glitched out back in the day.
Hollywood never makes brilliant films like this one. Well, , , ,not anymore!
beautiful
beautiful
@PriPriVer I know. I was just being a dick. Sorry.
@ingaman This movie is from 1968. It was done using an optical printer, edited purely on film... Norman McLaren was a genious and pioneer of experimental animation.
Two hard key lights and ghost trails from iMovie. I don't see what's so special about this. My little brother could make a better video!
anyone know where i can download this!?!? been looking for for ages!
Thank you for putting this on. It's still as hauntingly beautiful as I remember.
i miss alfie.
@gosiaprokop Romanian folcklore.
I love it!
I met Dave through my band who he was an early supporter of and we traded emails and played my record for Andy at Twisted Nerve who was interested at the time in doing something with us. Then I heard nothing, I just figured they lost interest, then today I searched Dave's name for the first time in a really long time and found out he died. So sad. He was a great person.
@teknotribes you're lucky! I'd love to see this in a cinema & lots of McLaren's other films
Just saw this film projected in a theatre last night! Mindblowing!
