Registrace 15. 05. 2008
Always plowing through obsolete and forgotten media to preserve what might otherwise be lost to time! Also whatever the hell I feel like posting, like showing my equipment and what-not.
I have just added a Donate button- you aren't obligated to donate but I would greatly appreciate it as I am just one person doing everything here. I have spent obscene amounts of money on some of my equipment and getting it serviced just so I can bring you the highest-quality transfers, I spend a lot of money on some of the media I acquire also. I certainly deserve donations more than many of the higher-profile CZcamsrs who ask for donations- many of them have the balls to ask for money and then ruin their videos with onscreen logos! I never do that, and I always upscale everything to the proper frame rate which only a few other users do.
But more than money, I am always looking for more off-air TV recordings from 1984 or earlier on VHS or Beta to feature here, and I can provide quality DVD copies!

Sesame Street episode 393 on NHK Japan
Sesame Street aired on Japan's NHK network as a way of teaching English- as you can see there is no Japanese translation at all. The only alteration is an onscreen message at 21 minutes in, translating to "Please read this program together with the guidebook. The guidebook includes Japanese explanations and translations. If you are interested, please purchase it at your local bookstore. More details will be provided at the end of the program." Such details are shown at the very end before the recording cuts off, translating to "A Sesame Street Guidebook is now on sale." The first minute or so was also taped over.
This episode originally aired in the US on 4/26/72, I don't know the date this was recorded (the upload of Japanese cosmetics commercials I have came on after this recording cut off, so those aired before this did.) It was found on a U-Matic tape; typical of that format audio is only in the right channel.
Wish those fortunate enough to get other vintage Sesame Street shows would upload them in the proper 60fps frame rate. Shame on the official Sesame Workshop people for not only NOT doing that but also putting their logo on every video!

Promotional video to attract visitors to New Orleans, though I don't know exactly where this was shown. Also includes a promo for Le Pavillon Hotel, where this tape was found. Narrated by Bart Darby who was a local weatherman. A lot of people in Louisiana are mentally ill.

From the end of a U-Matic tape that had been recorded over, sound only in right channel. Includes the opening or closing of a show; can anyone ID the show and the year this was recorded?

From an airing of the movie "The Horse Soldiers" dubbed in Japanese, audio in right channel only. First break is complete, second one whoever taped this kept pausing when they realized they were taping commercials, recording stops to switch to another tape as this one runs only one hour.

No relation to the Rhino series that came later. This doesn't even show any proper cover art. This came from a U-Matic tape in a collection from CNN, date is 1/24/85, produced by North Country Media Group, Inc. in Great Falls, MT for National Media.
1997 Pioneer DVD demo disc- main segment

As much as I love Pioneer, this is embarassingly bad and made me cringe when I saw this playing in a store when it was new. The way he explains letterboxing is ridiculous, and there's a montage of movie art (taken from laserdisc covers) of titles that took YEARS to come out on DVD- Fox wasn't even supporting the format at all when this was made! At least it acknowledges laserdisc, and I wasn't ...

This disc included these credits selectable from the menu screen so including them here as they list those who did the effects on the demo segments and also list the other movie and music clips that I couldn't include here. Of course if this were Netflix, you'd be automatically kicked out of this video.
"The DVD Difference" 1997 demo disc- Multiple Camera Angles (angle 1 only)

Neat but under-used capability of DVD and Blu-Ray discs. Most early demo discs included a segment using it; for this upload I only included one of 3 camera angles. Streaming video still cannot do this because physical media is still the best!

From the 2-sided "Toshiba DVD Gallery" disc. Always thought it was funny how they promote this as a "unified format" and then messed up the industry's transition to HD with a format war between Blu-Ray and its inferior HD-DVD format.

LOL, I remember this being a staple of MTV's early years when they actually played ... MUSIC!
Ah, the days when our good friend Paul Shaffer crystallized David Letterman’s thoughts perfectly….
Fun Fact: Joseph M. Schenck, The CEO of United Artists, Teamed up with Darryl F. Zanuck, The formal employee from Warner Bros. Teamwd up to form 20th Century Pictures, Inc. and sold their film rights to United Artists in 1933. In 1935, Schenck and Zanuck teamed up with William Fox, The owner and founder of Fox Film Corporation to merge into a new distributior, 20th Century Fox. In 2020, Disney brought 20th Century Fox and rebranded them as 20th Century Studios, and they rebranded Fox Searchlight Pictures as Searchlight Pictures.
Ahh the good old days when commercials didn’t compete to be the most annoying.

44 no longer airs movies or cartoons. It still airs sitcom reruns, though. It's the main bay area channel for syndicated sitcom reruns with KTVU phasing them out.
KBHK became KBCW and is now KPYX, branded as "Pix Plus," the sister station of CBS owned and operated KPIX 5. It's back to being an independent station (despite being owned by Paramount/CBS) after stints with UPN and the CW.
I worked at Jack in the Box back in 1998, and I watched a different training video (which also looked like it was made in the 80s). In the video, a cranky woman got mad after she went through the drive thru and saw that her taco had hot sauce on it even though she ordered a taco without hot sauce.🤣
I remember this commercial airing during a Soul Train episode, as I was 12 or 13 at the time.
Where did one get VCX tapes?
Was there an actual Japanese co-production in 1971? The Fandom page says there was; cast, set, and I assume that means dialog in Japanese. If so, are there any full episodes from then?

My buddy's dad got bombarded by a seagull with a bowel problem as he crossed the Blue Water Bridge from Port Huron Michigan to Sarnia Ontario immediately after getting his car painted white at Earl Schwab's. He could not stop on the bridge to wipe it off. Oh well .. a nice, cheap, paint job with just one flaw .. that seagull 🙂
I thought that was Pat Paulsen in the thumbnail.
