Thanks for the video. But won't it affect the engine warranty if I change the oil myself?
@@xlarin if you're in the US, no it should not
@@datboifixit1995 I'm in Canada.
@@xlarin I don't think it'll void anything if you do your own oil but just google it
A neighbor has one,he has 24 k on it & no problems
How many miles did you go until your first oil change? I usually do my 1st change a bit early to remove any wear metals that might be suspended in the oil from the break-in process that the filter doesn’t always catch.
Great review I bought the 1RS just like you I love it.
How is the AC? Do you notice the power is affected when it is on?
Not that I have noticed
wait 5w-30? mine says 0-20.. wouldn't using a non recommened oil type ( 5-30) damage the engine?
First off no it wouldn't and second the recommended is 5-30
@@datboifixit1995 top of the fill says 0-20 owners manual says 0-20 but agree it will not hurt the motor to use a 5W-20. At least in the summer then go with the 0-20 for winter. The turbo breaks down the oil faster.
@@motorcitymadman146 my cap and my manual both say 5w-30
@@datboifixit1995 I dont doubt you, but mine is a 2025 LS with the 3 cylinder and the cap says SAE 0W-20 ACDELCO DEXOS
@@motorcitymadman146 2025 has a slightly different engine. it now is a e85/flex fuel engine for all 2025s. Probably results in a different oil viscosity as well. Follow your manual.
Does the rear seats have A/C or Heater?
I was looking at nissan kicks great gas mileage. But with 122 hp 114 torque and a cvt the chevy trax looks better but it seems to have the pick up the kicks didn't have. I'm afraid of the 3 cylinder but it's the new age 😂your video has been very helpful 👍
I would be more afraid of that CVT than a 3 cylinder haha
Thank you for your video, did you check the oil level the next day? Did it need more or 4.2 qt were enough?
Checked it today, it was good!!
@@datboifixit1995 thank you for letting me know, I will do the oil change by myself and I want to avoid any mistake!
I think it looks good yo
2nd.looks gud
May I ask what MPG are you getting? I guess you are around 3K miles by now
Over 6k actually and we average around 28
Hmm 🤔 Turbo-3 Cylinder and Chevy 😂 Too risky for my money 💰 your for sure a man of faith good luck 🍀
How does it handle at highway speeds between 65-80 mph?
Really well, picks up speed easily, mild road noise
To cheat yourself out of a sunroof because you jump to foregone conclusions there would be an issue is complete nonsense!!! 🥴🥴🥴
I've had like 5 cars with sunroof and they all had leaks, barely used them. Overrated feature
I just did mine bought all that stuff still leaked. check the windshield seal on the bottom under the cowl if its missing that will cause the water to run into the blower motor. the seal on the bottom of the windshield holds down the cowl and prevents it from leaking into the blower motor.
It might look sealed, but still be leaking
FRAGILE! Only question is what's going to break down first, the engine or the turbo which will destroy the tiny 1.2 belt driven engine. Good luck!
Turbos aren't that hard to replace.
I'm considering investing in this vehicle possibly by the end of this year or early next year. I realize the price is low but I'm hoping they will get lower by the time frame mentioned.
thanks a lot, i ll do it today on my e91 330xd.
Good update
My car leaks from both sides. I also have issues with my hvac system so I’m thinking this is 1/2 of the problem! Thanks so much
I have the same issue on the driver side I think but I can't find the issue
Do the seats in back fold completely flat to make a flat surface for a dog crate.
Yes
Thanks for this video! I’m going to try to replace it or seal it. I was actually thinking it was from when my windshield got replaced and thought it was bad job the person did.
just a small correction, Activ trim gets power driver seat
I just bought the 1RS. Needed something cheap to drive to work and back as our second is done. Just waiting to pick it up.
Thank you for this review ! sunroofs are over rated good choise 😊
I have the 1rs and the re circulation works well on my car when I drive down on 15 south from the 210 sometimes it smells like manure or some chemicals and when I push the recirculate button the smell goes away
I've wanted to ask a real owner of one of these - first off great price point, great look for a Chevy product, etc. However, what compelled you to ultimately purchase this over something else if not price point? What is your level of expectation for how long it will last?
We decided on this because it was stylish, and of course the price point is a great reason. I was concerned about the engine considering there isn't much history of reliability, but in my opinion toyotas and Hondas are overpriced for the options you get (we once bought a brand new 21 Rav4) and I definitely do not want a Kia or hyundai, this seemed like a good middle ground for all of our expectations and looks really good!
I’m getting the 2rs fountain blue with the driver confidence package on Saturday! Pretty hype
This saved my car… I had the same exact issue! Thank you so much for making this video. Been looking for this for months!
To me this is ideal Uber car or taxi
Nice review!! Im a Toyota/Honda man beacuse they have been super realiable for me. Im talking like 230k miles on my honda engine and still going strong!!!! I dont believe these little trax engines will be reliable like that but i still bought a 2024 activ trax for my wife lol. Honestly if the trax makes it to 100k miles with no huge expensive repairs all be happy. I worry about the turbo going out and taking the engine out with it then be screwed. The 2024 trax sure does look cool and come with some nice features for the price tho.. guess time will tell the story of reliability on the trax. I talked to a friend who works at chevy and supposedly chevy really tried to get the new trax to be much more realiable and longer lasting turbos then the older trax models.
Make 200000 miles than talk
Didn't know plastic cost so much 😂 cheap everything all around!
Not being rude but why would you buy this knowing the the reliability is so low? When you have options like Mazda, Honda and Toyota?
Not a fan of Japanese, and this is way cheaper than a comparable honda or toyota. I did TONS of research on the reliability of this engine cuz it was an option in the 19 and up trial blazer and I could not find a single issue in relation to the engine. Also the engine is aluminum with cast-in-place iron sleeves. In my eyes it's worth the money
Same here. I did so much research before we went with our 1RS. Great car. Great value. @@datboifixit1995
@@datboifixit1995 Yeah, but plastic parts in the suspension (sway bar links)? Really?
The Active has the electric front seats. I have your car 2RS in Cati Green.
I thought the activ only had electric lumbar? Anyway i really love the Cacti Green, we would've got it if it was available!
@@datboifixit1995 just got it about 2 months ago. It has 1500 miles on it. They have the active in that yellow color and it had electric front seats and no sunroof but I like the wheels better on the 2RS and the cacti green
@@717Lucerothe trax activ doesn't have power seats, it does has a power driver seat.
Dont work for mine...i have the ballast in a plastic cover...and its only got like 1cm space....and i cant unclip the plugs from the inside either😅
Chevy really did well to not make their entry-level subcompact crossover be a penalty box. Also not having a CVT is a real plus, while having a 8 speed would have increased the price.
Any probelms with the windows or infotainment screen? I know people have complained about that.
No issues with windows, sometimes Carplay disconnects for a few seconds and that's all we've seen
I have ordered a 2025 2RS, should be here in about 4 months. The Active has the power driver's seat.
Will this engine hold up over time?
No. Chevy builds good V8’s. That’s about it
Looking on auto tempest there are quite a few trailblazers woth over 150k on them. Same engine so I’d say if u maintain it it should last.
Chevy POS 3 Cylinder turbocharged. Good Fn luck buying that Garbage.
Very nice the only thing I would not like is the flat bottom steering wheel. Do find it to be a problem getting use to?
Not at all, it's great
As Sly and the Family Stone sang, “Different strokes for different folks”.
I’m glad you like your car. We just bought a Mazda CX 5 S Select AWD. It’s an awesome car and extremely reliable. Never drove the Chevy, but I have to say it’s nice looking and reasonably equipped for the price.
Thank you for sharing
Great review! Just bought my 2024 Trax LS Sterling Gray (entry level) on February 14. At a price of 21,495.00, i have no complaints. With 336 miles, a smooth quiet ride everyday. "Not a race car." But stylish, roomy, with so many standard features. Same 3 cylinder engine that the Trailblazers been using for years. Just the kind of vehicle "everyone needs" for just getting around town. This vehicle is a "hit" here in Miami, Florida. From what im hearing, dealers all over the country have so many people on "waiting lists." Pratical Car Of The Year! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
the 2rs kind a gives you that race vibe, due to its 162 pound of torque!
When I got mine at the dealer the sales man said he’s been waiting for his for half a year and never got it still so he canceled it
The cabin noise is very low for the price point because of the Active Noise Cancellation, I have a 1RS in the Fountain Blue. I prefer manual seats because of quicker adjustments. It would be really nice if manual seats came with lumbar adjustments though.
I have this exact model with just aboit 3,000 miles. So far, so good. I leased it. $1,000 down and $249.78 per month. The only thing i don't like is that you have to buy the monthly data plan to use Andriod Auto. Otherwise you can plug your phone with the USB port and get a lesser use of it. I had a 2021 Trailblazer, same engine. The turbo charger went with 8,300 miles on it. Without warranty that would be over $1,500. Great to lease, i wouldn't buy a 3 cylinder.
Odd, we don't pay to use carplay/Android auto?
You don't need a data plan. You just hook up your phone via Bluetooth.
We do have a plan on your phone but I doubt it's required.

4:00 those panel gaps are definitely not Toyota, yikes! bottom left corner of the right headlight.
Have you checked gas mileage, did you get 28/32 approximately?
Yep I believe getting around 30 now
