    As someone pointed out, querying with Open AI returns a "Hello world" response. Do you have to pay to use an API key now? I heard something in that sense with another OpenAI project for the raspberry pi. Confirmed: for those wondering why you get a hello world response it's been you need to pay for the API. I just put $10.

      When AWS offer training courses they generally have 4 different levels to help identify the target audience. Level 100 - Introductory Level 200 - Intermediate Level 300 - Advanced Level 400 - Expert AWS 300 level training in this case meant it was an advanced topic.

    Hi Brilliant description. I have been using this for a while now, with no issues. However I added 3 entities, Fan High Fan Medium and Fan Low. These 3 entities are not being broadcast by HA and as such are not detected by Alexa. I have looked for the config/.storage/emulated_hue.ids file with Terminal and it does not exist. Any help would be gratefully received.

      Yeah there's quite a bit to this method. There's an easier alternative where you can edit your scripts directly in the HA console -- www.home-assistant.io/integrations/python_script/ This method is great for simple python scripts but doesn't appear to support 3rd party libraries which leaves you very limited in what you can do.

      The main difference that I found was the router has two network ports while the extender does not. If you're connecting devices over wifi only - the extender will do and it's a bit cheaper. If you want to plug devices into it with a network cable then you'll need the router.

I noticed that even after removing the ports from the qbittorent container, that it was still showing them all in a cached state on the container view. I then edited it again to add a new port mapping, redeployed, edited it again to delete this port, and redeployed without issue

      A successful chmod operation doesn't give any output. After running the 'sudo chmod 777' command it most likely worked. If you want to double check you can open a terminal window, navigate to the location of where the folder you want change the permissions is, type 'ls -l' This will output all the permissions of files and folders in your current working directory. You should see '-rwxrwxrwx' next to the folder you applied the chmod command against.

Worth a try, however I think its been removed recently. If you have a monitor, keyboard and mouse - plug those into the rapsberry pi. Then you can at least get into your settings to check what the user config is. Otherwise if remotely accessing the raspberry pi just isn't working you may need to run the OS installer again with the user set.

      Ahh that would be outside of my skillset. I haven't had to use SAP products since my university days. You would have to hire a developer or team who are knowledgeable on those ERP systems and get them to create a custom module/component to integrate into your platform. I'm not sure chat gpt integration would be the correct choice of ai products for your use case. As you would need to also add custom knowledge bases (access to internal IP), guardrails (safety mechanisms), agents (ability to execute code based on chat). It would be a full blown project in itself - not something easily achieved.

      Ahh right - In Radarr and Sonarr under Settings --> Profiles --> Quality Profiles -- you can set which language you would like to download in. There is also another piece of software I learnt about after making this video called Bazarr. This automatically scans your library and downloads subtitles in languages you specify. It's automated, but I've found it a bit hit and miss - especially when it comes to anime in other languages. I think this is more a lack of knowledge on my part on good subtitle websites to pull from rather than the software itself. I'd definitely recommend checking out Bazarr.

    Hi David, great review, thank you! I’m particularly interested to know if Python libraries such as Pandas and Numpy run well under WSL2 on a Snapdragon ARM laptop. Is this something you’ve been able to test? Thanks a lot!!

      I haven't extensively tested these out yet myself. I see another creator has setup wsl2 and installed a bunch of python libraries in this video - hopefully that gives a clearer idea of how well it runs czcams.com/video/3mCZ3WUcM8s/video.html

      It looks like office 365 comes pre-installed on the laptop. I can open it up, however I don't have a license key or existing trial to use it thoroughly. I would imagine the office suite would be fully supported given its a Microsoft product running on Microsoft hardware. insider.microsoft365.com/es-es/blog/64-bit-office-for-windows-on-arm What is office meet? Do you have a link to the software, I'll try it out for you.

    Thanks for the review, when you were plugging to external devices, were you also able to charge the laptop through the usb c port as well? Or do you need to use their power plug as well? It would be nice to have a one cable solution which includes power delivery

    • @techwithdavidolding
      @techwithdavidolding Pƙed 25 dny

      Unfortunately the monitor I'm using is a tad old and doesn't support USB C. I've currently got a single USB A + HDMI cable plugged into an adapter which connects into the USB C port on the device. This allows me to connect to my screen, keyboard and mouse into my Surface Laptop using that single USB C adapter -- but does not power the device as the monitor output is coming from USB A + HDMI. I do however have a 130W Dell laptop charger which is USB C, I have just plugged it in and can confirm USB C charging works with that. It's charging quite quickly at a rate of about 5% within 10 minutes. Based on this I suspect USB C charging via a monitor would work, but don't have the correct setup to verify.

      Update: I tried this at a friends house who has a USB C enabled monitor. I was able to connect using that single cable. Keyboard, mouse, monitor and charging all via that single USB-C cable worked.

    Hi David! An excellent review. I do like Microsoft Surface products as they are well-made devices. But I'm going to wait for the Surface Laptop 8? when it invariably comes out, with the new AMD chips and/or a version with Intel's Lunar Lake chips. This negates the compatibility issues entirely. These Qualcomm chips are perfect for someone with light usage demands who wants good battery life. But a $649 new Mac-book Air M1 from Walmart might be just as good, with folks saving some money as well.

    • @techwithdavidolding
      @techwithdavidolding Pƙed 25 dny

      Thanks. Completely agree and that seems like a good approach if you can put off a purchase for another year. There's so much competition right now between Qualcom, Intel, Apple, AMD that even better devices are most likely just around the corner. I am a tad worried about Intel based devices though -- I've used their CPU's in every single PC I've built -- but there's been a lot of trust lost with their latest CPU's (13th and 14th Gen) having massive failure rates. I hope their new Lunar Lake chips don't get shipped with the same fault.

    • @techwithdavidolding
      @techwithdavidolding Pƙed 25 dny

      Make sure you've hit save + deploy after adding in your api key to the codebase - otherwise it may not be picking it up correctly. You could also try regenerating the api key. As well as making an api call directly from postman using your api key -- this may return an error message of some kind which might help you troubleshoot further

    The eero is totally garbage and would not recommend anyone to buy unless you are using it standing right next to it. I’ve had to change internet provider because the eero is all they now supply. I’ve up graded from the eero to the eero 6 to the pro and all perform the same. I would need to run Ethernet cables all over my house and install boosters.

My bedroom is behind the wall of my office. The FP2 detected me as present all night. It will take a few days of testing to see if I reduce the sensitivity, does it not see me through the walls. Cool, and freaky at the same time! Thank you for building and presenting this video.

      Oh man sounds painful. It's been ages since I've touched Ubuntu I can't even remember if apps get registered to a specific apps section within that system. I wonder if they register as a service and run silently in the background. Open a terminal window and type 'ps -ef' That will show you all running processes running on your system. I'm not sure how you'd find the location the config files get written to though.

      What was the skill invocation name you set... is it anything similar to cuckoo repeater? And have you deployed the skill to your region (from memory this was towards the end of the tutorial)? I found a few times when it wasn't picking up the skill name it was b/c I hadn't taken that extra step to deploy it to my region/language --> default was English(US) but I then had to update it to Australia to access it within my country.
