In this episode we discuss the upcoming Adepticon competitive Warcry event. We review what the TO has indicated the pack will contain and look at some of the factions that we expect to see, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of those factions.
So the narrative of Rob's warband is about winning second place after lots of self recrimination?
I was sad about the nerf to Proggert the Netter but seeing the Hard Boys be in such a good spot and the very fun additions of Hurcules the Howler and Jaguar the Bleeder i am just tickled pink about the state of the Destruction Grand Alliance. Makes me want to pick up a Hacker, yell, "War!" and Charge into battle :)

1:10:00 love this take. Points efficiency isn't everything BUT it generally is worth looking at when you're trying to work out why a model feels so weak or so strong. Otherwise the biggest consideration with a fighter is "does this fighter fit with the thing I'm trying to do?" and hopefully the answer to that question is yes, then hopefully that model isn't overcosted (lookin' at you, Nighthaunt)
in all seriousness - great episode boys this was a great showcase on different approaches to list building with all their own strengths. If I had to recommend a video for players looking to step up their game to the next level in list building - this is the video I would suggest. very well thought out and I really appreciate hearing where all of yall are coming from.

Sweet analysis gentlemen. I loved Nova last year, but I wasn’t planning on coming this year. After watching this I want to go. I read this pack as a kill pack with some objective nuances. Mission 1: kill your opponent so you can control objectives late game. Mission 2: kill your opponent so you can control more treasures round 4. Mission 3: Kill your opponent early and keep killing them while you hold 2 objectives. Mission 4: VP for More killed points per round > More bodies in the center. Mission 5 Control the center to allow yourself to move freely between objectives. Control the center by Killing.

19:24 important note: Soulblaze works as long as ANY enemy fighters have been taken down. It could be by any model on the board. Someone fell to their death? Soulblaze.
28:37 I find that the strength of these guys in objective missions tends to wax and wane with meaningful terrain. You always want at least one objective on a platform. Which is annoying and gamey, but that's what you have to do to make it work.

This is the warband that got me into Warcry. I like elves, but GWs Warcry elves are just awful, especially compared to how they are written about in the lore (I am more familiar with Warhammer Fantasy and 40k elves to be clear). I have probably played 3-5 games a week (except for a few exceptions when I played 5-7 in a day), and I have been consuming Warcry media at an obsessive pace, but I am having the worst time with the Ydrilan Riverblades. I am currently 1-4-1 in my current campaign. I get that some people think that every warband should not be able to do everything, but I hate that I am unable to kill much at all on the board and get swept by other teams (I have recently played sylvaneth, which are sturdier and just as maneuverable, and stormcast eternals, which are fast, hit significantly harder, are tankier, and all have range). I am honestly starting to think that this is just not the game for me as someone who craves balance in games.
I’d disagree with balance. What opponents are you playing? Is this open or narrative or matched play? They cannot kill well and are on the weaker side but would do well on objective missions that don’t worry about killing. Sce are tanky and hit hard, sylvaneth are meh , and yrd are below both in terms of competitive viability. I’d love to discuss and talk on discord if you have any questions
I went on a weeks long losing streak with Shadowstalkers in 1.0. I think the Elf playstyle is less fun so I don’t play them right. Painting the corners and only engaging occasionally isn’t an engaging fun play style. Pun intended.

Loving these Warband tech spotlights. If there is one thing I would like if possible (I know they already can go kind of long) would be maybe an examination and analysis of the Warband's narrative options as well. Nerf to KOs heavy hitters left a nice spot for forgotten pre-2.0 gatling wielding dwarf - Enrik from Underwrolds! 15" range with 6/3 1/3 shots makes him a really nice ranged option. And thats a lot of dice.

Love em and just painted up 2 x boxes (including 2 bows! :-) ). Their biggest downside (except treasure missions) is that everything costs about 200 pts so they are really hard to listbuild with when taking allies!
I know people call the Priestess a "tax", and I don't disagree, but at 20wounds for just 105points, she's such a pound for pound tank. I feel like I win every game in which she dies, because it takes so many resources to do so. Also the Warpicks deal more damage against all toughnesses, but if you accidentally made all Hammers, don't worry! Hammers + Darkoath Warqueen is a crazy vibe. Once she's bosting that Attacks characteristic they catch up quick.
