Somehow, this makes me appreciate acoustic setups. Its more "honest". Its easy to sound cool on an electric whereas you really have to dig deep to sound cool on acoustic

That was very pitchy and he didn't play it well (and he knew it) but he just keeps plugging along with a confidence that comes with years of doing this. As a musician who does a lot of John Mayer (including this song), that's what I admire about him. He doesn't get stressed when he misses a note or sings off key, he's just kind of jamming like he's in his bedroom. He does this a lot in huge concerts too. The balls on this guy to try new vocal runs on the fly like that. He's constantly. experimenting. I try to do that live but lose my way, so I stick to the melody to avoid embarrassment. You might think I'm knocking him but I'm actually praising his sense of trying new stuff while in front of an audience. Most muso's, including myself, don't risk that. I think that speaks to his talent. If you listen to a lot of his playing, he's always trying to go somewhere new. Both vocally and instrumentally. But his albums are on point and genius in melody.

There was a short time just when his first music started coming out where we all thought this guy was gonna be another hit and run musician that didn't stick around to prove they were great. We all thought he was just pandering to the ladies and all that jazz. Then he just kept coming with more music. THEN the man played at the Nokia stage and absolutely BLEW all of our minds. Damn this guy is good.
