I have a huge problem, the disconnect doesn’t work! I have tried every which way and it does not release the door. Any ideas?

Except that it won’t click back in. It just hangs down and won’t reconnect. It doesn’t snap into anything when I try to reconnect it. Genie opener.

this is probably my fault but I am not able to understand your diagram. :/ I am building a 12' x 12' shed and plan to do the smallest garage door I can find (8'w X 7'h). I know I need 2 x 6's for my jam but I am kind of lost at that point... with head room, etc.. I had no problems with my doors or windows or my 4' over hang for my trusses.

call And Taylor Wot that really makes a lot of sense and I've been Construction for lotta years and I never seen him do it that way but listening to him hi got a new garage going in and California and I'm willing to do exactly what he said to do because it makes all the sense so your real favorite rough opening is 8 foot three only get a 2 x 6 on the inside have no problem bolting everything together I've never seen it before but I'm gonna do it that way for myself thanks for the good information

Know how to lock from the outside if it’s a detached garage?

I just want to say that you are a legend. Lifesaver. I come back home at midnight there is no electricity. so I open the garage door and when I close it, I realize it wouldn’t be lock. When I Google it your video come out straight away. Lucky that I got a clamp. Thank you again or else I won’t be able to sleep tonight.

Thank you so much for this! I had the power out and was stuck opening and closing the door manually and, while good for my biceps, was a pain and a hassle. Watched your video, went out and, actually, had to pull the cord toward the front of the garage, not the door to lock it into place, but it is now working as it should!

I'm a senior female and not too long ago had my garage door opener installed. Several weeks ago it stopped working right after the storm so I was feeling like it could be relative however, I was thinking more toward a shortage or electrical issue but began realizing that everything electrical was still working. I began to search youtube for the fixing of garage door openers and to make a long story short, I located your video. I can't thank you enough for explaining and demonstrating this in a way for even me to try. It didn't work for me the fist try so I played video again and realized I missed a small step by not lifting the garage door to snap back in place. I am so happy and feeling better now that my garage door is opening again. God bless you 😊

Hello. Can you make your opening with the jams a 1/4” smaller? Say for example if you have a 9 foot wide door can you make your opening 107 3/4” (that’s with the finished jam material)?

Is there a manual way to further secure them when you are away for extended periods of time? ie Would the C clamp or something similar to the job if someone was to hack the garage door code and try and open it? I have a unique set-up. I am replacing my 16’ wide by 7’ high wooden door. I want to replace it with a 12’ door. Modern with insulation. It is unique as you know because I am modifying the 16’ door because we do not need to park 2 cars in the garage. We have a 30’ x 60’ shop about 12’ from our house with more than ample space for extra vehicles.

6 years later and want to say thank you. My apartment garage broke so I'm waiting for them to fix it and have been worried about the stuff in my garage and the door to my apartment. I just used a real cheap metal 4 inch c clamp from Amazon and it works great.

I wish the half wit that built my detached two car garage would have watched this video before pouring all the concrete! Now everytime it rains I have about two inches of water in my garage. Of course the "home inspector which is Cardinal Home Inspection " did not catch this problem. So now I am stuck with this problem!

Just remove the hinge that's giving you the problem and take it with you to the store. That way you'll get the correct one and not look stupid.

I have a sears craftsman old garage opener with SR code yellow button on the back. Pressing the button for 6-10 seconds is supposed to reset and erase all the programmed codes and any remote codes. However, I am unable to reset the codes and the led besides the button never goes off when I keep the SR code button pressed for 30 seconds or 1 min. Sears tells me that the logic board has to be replaced and is not something available since it is an old system. Is there an alternate way to reset the codes on the logic board? Please guide
