I would suggest to pin this comment if seen. As someone who recently used the Vive XR Elite this headset should not be used for face tracking or bought for VRC in general. The headset has terrible Fov with Face tracking, I can't even see my mute button its so bad. The gasket comes off very easily and there is light leak. The eye movements are very jittery and twitch when you squint your eyes. The mouth tracking is nowhere near exaggerated either, you can't smile with your teeth. You can't make an awkward face or many expressive emotions. You can't even make an anger expression. It's just all around a bad product and very uncomfortable to wear. I had a lot of hate for this product after only two days of use for it when my face tracker came in. Oh yeah and the battery life is around an hour. I even tried direct powering the headset to a tower and my charger cable just couldn't keep it alive. Not even the ones that came with it, forcing me to sit down with my full body while my battery slowly dies. It was awful, I am going to return it in to get the Quest Pro. (The face gasket also uses rubber material, after just an hour of use it leaves bright red marks on my face where the rubber sits.) Don't get this headset and get the Quest Pro, its your best bet. If you see this comment and still want the Vive XR Elite after this don't say I didn't warn you.

Another thing to mention here is that the Quest Pro is a *pain* to open up and replace parts in. Meta really does not want you to tinker around with their device. For the Vive Pro Eye, you can get plenty of mods/upgrades or repair parts for. 80% of the parts you can salvage a vive pro non-eye for, which is plentiful on the used market. For the displays, I recommend swapping them with the 90hz oled displays from the samsung odyssey+, they have way less screendoor effect, and for the lenses, GearVR lenses are pretty good. With both mods, the Vive aparently gets way better visual quality than the quest pro. (I only have a modded Pro Eye, but no Quest Pro, but thats what I've been told by people that have both) Tldr, if you like to tinker with your headset, the vive pro eye should be a superior pick, if you can get one with a face tracker.

To be totally honest the king of face tracking is pro eye but with a pico 4 pro it is much better than the quest pro because it doesn’t have that sweat problem they are cheaper and if you get a live facial tracker you already have all the quests don’t work

Something that would make the test better would be if this was tested with the same (exact) model with the same face-tracking setup on both models. Though something I haven’t seen yet out of the reviews I see, is there isn’t a *local* recording of both participants. The motion is always dampened and delayed over the network. I think it would be cool to have two local recordings running at the same time to see the local and over the network interaction of both headsets at the same time. Great vid tho!

Face tracking isnt really needed... Like its cool, the eye tracking. But honestly if your avatars expressions are good and lip synk and you master them Thats good enough. I use Shiba inu by Pikapetey for years and people even today ask me if i got face tracking. Prooving that it can be pulled off. So yeah, its interesting but not needed

doesn't the Vive focus 3 also have the eye and face tracking as options as well? kinda been curious on that as a in between of the quest pro and the xr elite.

I got my quest pro for $700 usd open box. The person I got it from threw in a nice case and everything. The stickers were still on the headset and I am so happy with it. The clarity improvement from quest 2 blew my mind it’s CRAZY

I have a love hate relationship with HTC. They have made made great VR addons, face tracker, wireless addon (it needed several updates to be good), tracking pucks, etc but they seem to not care for all of the things they made, they either take ages to update the software or outright abandon it . This makes a lot of people not want to buy their stuff because you dont know what support they will give in the long run, which triggers a cause and effect in sales. i hope Valve is working on something, because HTC needs work on their customer relationship, gain back some trust and keep their stuff on the market for longer
