I'm shocked that you think there is a difference between how they behave and their potential risk vs potential profit. If you think there's a difference, then you have been duped.

One is a debit and other is a credit position. Risk profiles look identical but they are totally different in nature.

I can make the case that it will never make a difference whether you use a debit or credit spread, that they will always behave the same way. Same risk, same potential profit, same behavior of the P&L. So, the facts are that they are entiely the same, the only difference is how they are accounted for prior to being realized.

Iron fly relies on theta decay. You benefit from it if this is the price of the stock stay close to your strike price and time passes by. you would use this when the markets are less volatile. For debit butterflies, you already know the mechanics.

@@Frank-cb2zo You have exactly the same rate of theta decay with a long fly as you do with an Iron Fly. Same profit potential, same behavior. I don't know why you are arguing these points, you are wrong in your assumption that there is a material difference.

You can avoid the pattern day trade rule by locking in profits with a box trade. This allows both the original trade and box trade to expire without closing, so no PDT strike.

There's less slippage because the whole position is ATM

That's false. Where do you get those numbers? Every trade has a risk-to-reward of 1 to 9 or better, but that does not mean you will get 9. My average win-to-average loss is 2 to 1. But that has nothing to do with the potential for each trade.

There are many reasons. The most important is the varying sizes between the SPX. Let's call it 1X. The NDX is almost 4X greater than SPX, the ES is 1/2 the size, The NQ is 1/5 X, and the XSP is 1/10 X. Also, the NDX and NQ have about 15% more volatility on average, which accounts for better Gamma risk. I could go on.

The Batman works, but not the single OTM gly. However, in certain edge cases, it works better, such as when you expect extreme volatility but are unsure which way the price might go or with multi-DTE trades under certain circumstances.

It would be easier to correlate the e-miny S&P futures to the SPX since they have the same price scale. The SPY is a 3 digit ETF, where the ES and SPX re both 4 digits.

My returns range from 2% per month to as high as 18%. It depends on volatility in the markets, more is better, my annual returns have ranged from 40% to 120%.I would say a conservative average, might be 3-5%.

Yes, to respond to Volatility's effect on Gamma risk. Lower volatility increases Gamma risk; therefore, we choose narrower flies to reduce our exposure to that risk. From a scientific point of view, our empirical evidence shows that this reduced exposure helps maintain our drawdown and volatility of return objectives.

@@0DTE There are guys out there which do all the math needed to price the options to absolute perfection. Don't you think one should use these params to setup whatever strategy one uses ? It starts with flipping the coin and telling a lot of blabla that you have no clue what the pros are telling us. So if you do something like this channel, then do it properly - free advise. Because "batman" is a good strategy, but you just gotta set it up correctly.

@@0DTE It is priced to perfection so that this is going to be a zero sum game at the moment you look up the underlying, price of options and the "Greeks". But if at the "moment" the price is calculated for a 100pt move on SPX then I would not setup an IC or whatever that covers 10pts ...pure common sense. So arguing how wide the width should be in terms of $ or pts - tells me someone just did not get it - because it is also dynamic.
