I literally think some adults especially the women that are in this line of work love the whole thrill factor of the job 😵‍💫 Ive been told that the correctional officers don’t even get paid enough compared to all the life threatening events that go on regularly in these types of facilities 🫡🫣 ain’t no way in hell I would ever sign up for this type of work if the pay wasn’t worth it … in addition to that at least come with some decent health benefits or something like that 😳😭 I guess it truly does take a special kind of person to do this line of work & I already know I’m not one of those 🤐 I’ve never stepped one foot inside of any kind of prison & I fully dedicate myself to never be locked up in one

They need to check these inmates thyroids when they come in. Hypothyroidism manifests in violence and inability to control ones self and this mixed with emotional damage is a recipe for disaster. Hyperthyroidism can manifest with similar symptoms but one is underproduction of thyroid hormone (hypo) the other is over production (hyper) the thyroid is the regulator of the body's functions and when it is off a person can go cray ( I knew a person who was in and out of prison until he got his hypothyroidism under control. This is not something that is generally checked in a normal physical and that is a huge mistake because it is vital that it stays regulated.

We are a soft pathetic nation in terms of the law, our prisons, and sentencing. criminals do what they do, cause they get away with so much. And they know how soft the UK is. If we had some of the strict regimes of other no nonsense countries, then they'd think twice before committing crimes. What a joke the UK justice system is. Thirty odd years ago, I spent time in Brixton, the Scrubs, Winchester, and Highpoint (the best of the lot). One of my teachers (I went on the Education wing as a soft option). I didn't fancy sewing jeans or working in the jam factory. However, one of my teachers, all outside workers so sympathetic to us, was a 60 year old lady, about five foot two who had no problems with any of the pupils. I remember asking her what she thought about me trying to get a transfer to HMP Ford , that then had the reputation of being England's softest prison. She just said 'what an earth do you want to go there for, it is where they send all the bent police'. I never put that transfer request in and kept in contact with a great guy called Emlyn, who was the computer teacher for 15 years after I finished my sentence. Not a recomended experience, but Highpoint (known as 'knifepoint) was by far the best of a bad bunch screw-wise, food-wise, and generally for doing time. It may have changed in thirty years, I haven't been back to check.
