Propagate snake plant or Sansevieria Plant from leaf cutting in water and soil the best methods
Propagate snake plant from leaf cutting
Sansevieria Plant
Friends if you're looking for an easy-care houseplant, you can't do much better than snake plant. Snake plant is one of the most tolerant plants that’s why urban gardeners love it, they can survive low light levels, and drought. NASA researchs shows that snake plant cleans the air of your home by removing toxins In short, they are the perfect houseplants.
Today we are going to learn how we can grow snake plant from leaf cutting in water and soil, so let’s begin
Take some healthy leaves of snake plant and cut them in about 3 inches long peaces, and mark them with a marker to know its sides. I will tell you why
We are going to grow it in both water and soil so we have to prepare our pots accordingly
We are using cocopeat as growing media, all cuttings grow well in cocopeat because it retain moisture which is very important for cuttings to grow. let’s make a 3-4 inches thick layer of cocopeat in our pot, snake plants are very easy to grow and does not require any rooting hormone to start sprouting, we have to make sure one thing that we are not putting wrong side in the soil, we have to put the lower side of the cutting in the soil, the upper side of the cuttings should not be buried. Press cocopeat gently from all sides and now its time to sprinkle some water on it.
Now time for water propagation, we are using this glass beaker and using normal tap water, We have to keep leaf cuttings 1-1.5 inches inside the water same procedure for water also upside goes up and downside goes down
Now we have done our part and let the nature nourish them, so we will keep them both in a shady place for at least 40 days to grow roots, we have to give water whenever the soil got dry, we have to change water of our beaker on every 5th day to avoid any fungal infection.
I have grown some cuttings earlier, lets have a look at them
So you have seen how easily we can grow snake plants and it will start cleaning the air of your house

    Thanks for simplifying the method of propagating bamboos. I just want to know, what age plants are suitable for cutting? Does it have anything to do with the thickness of cutting? What if rooting hormone is added?

    I bought a bamboo cutting. It came in with only one node. I thought the roots and branch of leaves grow from nodes. With only one node, should I plant it on its side?

    What you say, that is 7/8 mont old plant what you take out of that bag😞🤷you told in beginning, it's grow fast, but 7/8 month it's just have roots 🤔

  • @FknNefFy
    @FknNefFy Před 2 lety

    Like to see the one that you planted in 7 to 8 months also know what you planted it in and also why you cut off the other node. Can’t see the original cutting on the second one and we didn’t get to see it before you put it in the ground so this is not very much proof to me or evidence of how well things went

  • @FknNefFy
    @FknNefFy Před 2 lety

    I also don’t know how big the one you grew seven or eight months back was when it started so it’s not really showing us how well it works

      check the comments. he stated it to a comment to Ryan. "propogation needs mosture retaining soil so if you want good results you can use coco peat. otherwise normal garden soil is good enough."

  • @FknNefFy

    There were two nodes on the one that you cut off why are there only one in the one that you planted?? I think you skipped a step...

    "water it gently" proceed to drown the plant x) Just kidding, thanks for the video I will try to propagate some of my neighbor's bamboos to make a hedge. I already bought some euonymus japonicus but they will produce some toxic berries later on their development and I don't want my kids to confound them with edible berries and get sick. Bamboo is a much safer (but way pricier in my country) option, so propagating is the way. Thanks again!
