I really hope you guys finish this season. It's amazing.

I don't particularly like the other girl who her ex cheated with, but calling her "fake" bc she wears make up left a bitter taste in my mouth when there wasn't any indication of their looks being opposites that made him cheat anyway. It's a horrible stigma.

I really just read a comment under a reaction video to a specific episode of a specific show that I've seen multiple times writing something about the story of the little match girl, and thought "Wait, I remember that story, what anime covered that story again?" then I started watching the video... I think that I possibly maybe might potentially be a complete idiot

the delivering happiness line is one of my favorite moments about this show

This is one of my favorite episodes. Moeka's frenzied shrieking and Okabe's Gender-Equality-Punch and Gender-Equality-Kick combo never fail to get me. I'd also like to point out how totally sus it looked that the door was broken open, the furniture smashed, and a suspicious stranger was pinning her down on the floor and forcing her to kiss him while the old lady walked by, and yet she did not do a damn thing about it. In America, the fighting and screaming would have summoned the cops in less than 10 minutes without even seeing that specific scene. But in Japan she saw what was going on and was like "Wow, some couples are scary.. oh well." and went home. No police ever came until days after she died. And women think they are still oppressed in THIS country.. *smirks*

The interesting thing about this episode for me is the fact that this was made in 2010. That was almost 15 years ago. Long before the whole LGBTQ movement was in full swing yet. And Japan is typically 10 years behind us in social politics, so it's more like 25 years ago for them. Nowadays, people could say "Well what is the problem, just be gay and problem solved." but back then and especially in Japan, that sort of thing is still not okay. They have a rigid society that expects the gender roles to be sharply divided and the only ones that would accept any deviation from it are deranged perverts and hopeless losers. So Ruka had no choice but to hide his feelings for Okabe, because society just would not allow them to be together, even though they clearly love each other mutually. (You can tell that Okabe is in love with him from the moment Ruka is introduced. He literally is waxing poetic in his own mind every time he looks at Ruka, and Ruka admits to his face that he is in love with Okabe. So that's not really too debatable.) But it's also extremely progressive that Okabe accepted him regardless either way. Especially in THAT environment. It just goes to show he is far more open minded than your average NPC robot in Japan in 2010. It's just one of those things where the context of society make a huge difference to the plot between then and now. I guess TL:DR, this happened before WOKE even existed in a time where it wouldn't be welcomed or even allowed in a place where that homophobic and transphobic mindset is much stronger even than it was here at that time. So it's way more meaningful in that context.

There is a reason why Okabe escapes the situation every time. It is because his "death" is a known event with a known date. Which means no matter what, he will "survive" until that exact date and then no matter what he will "die" on that date. It's a convergence point so it basically cannot be changed on that world line. It pretty much makes him immortal until he is supposed to die. The exact opposite of what is happening to Mayori. Of course the condition he is in and his situation can be basically anything within that range.

The whole "I'm Mad Scientist SO COOL.... sonuvabitch!" is a very well-known Engrish meme.

I still believe Suzuha killed Makise in the first episode too. Nobody else agrees with me, because of later episodes, but you have to understand that just like Mayuri, just because she dies one way in one timeline, doesn't mean it's the same in all the other time lines. I think Suzuha was sent back to assassinate her for inventing time travel from her dystopian future, but incidentally, Okabe threw them off of that track with his D-mail. There is no actual proof that it didn't happen that way. And I don't think her father would have killed her without Okabe provoking him. He made him so angry by arguing with him in the conference and taunting him later on that it changed her method of death. Hell it could be that Okabe's very existence is enough to change the world line.. due to his Reading Steiner. His flashbacks, memories, and feelings from other worldlines intrude on those lines and corrupt their integrity, changing things enough to make a difference. Him attending that conference could have very well altered her death just by him existing nearby.

Damn, you basically just described the entire rest of the season at the end. lol

I always assumed that the weird "Take on me" moment in this episode where everything turns black and white and Okabe is running home is just an artistic choice to show his mental state how he is in a frenzied panic and literally everything else stopped being important and that is the bare bones of info reaching his brain through the fear, adrenaline, and terror. You're seeing it from his perspective while the world fades away and nothing else matters but getting back. (so reality follows suit in his brain) Something like that.

The real problem with the Dmails is that it doesn't actually make you go back in time at all. Time marches ever onward and never goes backward this entire time. He is changing the PAST, not what day it is. So changing the past without living the time from that point forward until now means that another you lived that time span, did what you would do, and then got replaced by the current you. That is why he never remembers things that he supposedly experienced from everyone else's point of view. But like I said, time isn't actually going back, just the result in the present is different.

Some of your wild predictions were spot on.

Without the excessive worldbuilding, the later episodes would have far less impact. You need to know what and who and where about everything before you can feel anything for future events.

We Americans only take our shoes off when we enter a house if the person there insists on it. And those people are usually anally retentive jackasses whose house you wouldn't want to enter anyway. So no, it's not normal here. It happens, but it's not normal. We have mops, vacuum cleaners and welcome mats, so there is no justification for it. Unless you slogged through a mudhole, and why did you do that in the first place? In that rare case you can leave them outside or get hosed off. Almost everything is paved here so nothing gets all that dirty to begin with.

I love watching people's reactions throughout the series go from "What is this? I'm totally confused." to "This is the greatest anime to ever exist" by the end. LOL

Instead of "Time Machine" or "Time Contraption" shouldn't it actually be called a "Time Vehicle"? Since you are riding inside of it.

Flamme (human) was Frieren's master, as in master and apprentice, not mother. Yes, in the main timeline Frieren is about 1 millennia old.

Still bamboozles me a bit when we learn that Frieren knew Flamme and that she was her master. I really love this show. This and The Apothecary Diaries were my favorite series in recent times.

10/10. As a lifelong gamer, and an utterly hopeless romantic, I enjoyed this anime to an exceptional level. Also, having read a decent bit ahead in the manga, I can't avoid the extremely cuddly and "pink" emotions when I revel in what exists between Akane and Yukito. A dreamlike expression of the universe loving itself.
