Matt's Reloading Bench
United States
Registrace 7. 12. 2013
I love reloading and gunsmithing. In my videos, I share the reloading processes that I use and explain why. I show how to make minor modifications to firearm components that I come across and in my videos I show the good and the bad. If something does not work, I change what I am doing and explore the world of reloading and shooting.

Cleaning Remington 7600 Pump Action Rifle
A friend of mine asked if I could take a look at his deer rifle and he wanted me to clean it up and get it in good working order.
The rifle is a Remington 7600 Pump Action chambered in 270 Win.
It was quite the job, but it turned out great and still shoots fantastically!

😂😂hello, can you specify: what brand of case, what primer and total length of case + bullet. Thank you
It's all in the video and on the thumbnail. I don't know the searing depth off hand. I shot this video over a year ago.
Nice job, so even though this Inline Fabrication mount is called a flush mount, it isn't necessary to use a router to cut the wood, as some guys have shown on other CZcams videos. My last unit was the higher unit or what they call the ULTRA Mount.
It is the flush mount. It comes with instructions for routing out an inset, but it is not necessary to do.
@@mattsreloadingbench Yes, but it still would require I purchase a spacer bar for $14, plus another $14,95 to ship it to CT. Thanks for the reply!
@@boomerrangerron you are correct
We found Staball had smaller groups with large rifle primers..
Interesting...
The Heat INdex of N160 makes it a very cool burning powder compared to many other powders. AA2700 is the coolest burning powder. These cooler burning powders greatly increase barrel life.
Great work. I appreciate your idea of reloading the same loads and push them to 500. Sounds super smart to me!
I don't know if it smart or not, but it works well for me. Thanks for watching!
@@mattsreloadingbench I find your method very efficient. Love the tip and used it today. Nice time saver while I wait my trickler to deliver the next load.
I run 58.0 with 140 Accubonds and no pressure signs. 1/2 for 3 shots since it’s a hunting load.
That's awesome! Thanks for watching!
I’ve had really good success with it using 140 Accubonds Berger Elite and ABLRs.
That's awesome! What do you shoot for? Target? Hunting?
@@mattsreloadingbench Hunting use to shoot competition 20 years ago and loved it. Today I’m lucky to have a family that helps me with my deer due to an unfortunate circumstance with my health.
@@paulmeek7964 I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that all is well.
@@mattsreloadingbench I appreciate that but if I breathing I’m move. Really enjoy your videos
Thank you for your idea of "charging/ seating, then in the range box". That is a time saver. I've had an old routine where I do 1 operation to completion, clean up, then move on. Your idea showed me how much time I waste waiting for the powder measure to "beep". In the past while it's dispensing, I THOUGHT I was being efficient by champh/debur the next case but I still had maybe 20 seconds left to wait for the charge. I COULD HAVE SEATED THE BULLET AS WELL!! What a dummy I have been. Thank you so much.
I'm glad I could help. Thanks for watching!
Really good video
Thanks for watching!
that was sick! thanks again brotha
No problem! I was happy to do it!
Good stuff!

Hi, do you have to lube some parts and are you satisfy with this front rest? For the price it seems a good buy. Would you buy it again after using it? Thank you
I actually tore it completely apart and removed the grease that was in it. Then I packed it with a moly grease. Now it is silky smooth. I just shot a 588-24x at a competition for F-Open last weekend. I'm very happy with it. Also, I replaced the bag on top of it too.
Thats a lot of rounds down the barrel for load development. I can’t imagine the groups are very good yanking the trigger like that…😮
Thanks for watching!
I watched it twice. What are the details on the firearm & optic? If it's there, I missed it; twice
The optic is an Arken 5-25x56 and the rifle is a Ruger RPR 6.5 Creedmoor
78.2 is looking promising with that 8.32 SD and that group is like 1/2 moa w/o the flyer. Maybe try it again ans play with seating depth? Seems like that would be a better load for passed 1000 yard stuff. Love your content, man. I recently finished my 300prc project (Kelbly's/26" 1-8.5 pac-nor/KRG Bravo/triggertech/Tract Toric ) and just got some retumbo and 225 eldm's to do some load development with. Your videos are very helpful.
Heck yeah! I hope that you enjoy your setup! I love shooting this RPR! It is so heavy. It really cuts down on the felt recoil. Thanks for watching!
I have four different presses. A RCBS Rock Chucker II, a Lee Classic Cast Press, and two MEC shotshell presses. One 12ga, and one 20ga. Also, an RCBS primer pocket swager. They all are rock solid with their individual base plates. I plan to add another base plate for a vise. The In Line Fabrication is the best system, by far, for mounting any type of press. If you have an oddball press, send them a tracing of the footplate, and they will custom make a one-off plate for you. Or provide you with a blank if you wish to make your own.
Heck yeah man! This is a great system and I am so glad that I outfitted my pressed with it! Changing from one press to another can't get much easier! Thanks for watching!
Moving up In .1 increments is kind of a waste of time and components
You are absolutely correct. This was in the beginning of my loading for precision. I tried alot of different things and it took a while to hone my process to something more applicable to what I need. Everyone goes through a learning curve, and it just so happens that mine happened for everyone to see. Thanks for watching!
I'm guessing you need a base mounting plate for each press you want to mount on the bench? How much are they? are they easy to find?
Go to inlinefabrication.com They have mounts for almost any press that is out there. If they don't have one, they have blanks that you can get and drill your own homes in to make it for whatever press you are needing it for.
What is your barrel length
24" stock barrel on a Ruger RPR 6.5 Creedmoor
The 15 shot ladder test is invalid given typical shot to shot velocity variation. You are basing your load development on random noise.
It has given me a good starting point to use. Thanks for watching!
Good afternoon friend, greetings from Spain, congratulations on your videos. One question, I bought that same one (bullet pointing die) now I need the B-20 punch for Berger 200.20x cal30 tips, and I can't find where to buy it and have it sent to Spain 😓 Do you know where I could buy it? @@2012xtrem sorry bud, I don't know any other avenue to help you out
@@mattsreloadingbench Nothing friend, thank you very much for everything anyway 👍
Interesting stuff, neat seeing that big cartridge deliver such compelling results. You did see something that I've seen int he past, and that's the groups with the best standard deviation not always having the tightest group. I dunno why that is, but I don't sweat it too much. Some guns just like different amounts of powder.
Thanks for watching!
I have the same rifle, is there a part number for the weights?
No. There is not
You need to get a Henderson man..
Why is that? I have no experience with one. I ask because I am curious.
You like wasting powder and components? 0.1 gr increments is ridiculous... Same with 2 thou seating depth, makes no sense whatsoever.
Thanks for watching
You went little backwards buddy the further the shoulder is blown out on the case your loading, over your oal case you used to check the seating depth with the further you have to seat the bullet out out the case bc the front of your brass is gonna hit the front of the chamber sooner than it would 3 tho smaller so instead of you being 20 tho off the lands like you wanted you were 26tho.. which isn’t bad. the case your loading is 3 tho bigger than you oal case then you seated the bullet in further 3 tho off the lands. but great video man!
You are correct. I've gotten away from doing it this way. Now I use the jam method.
cool, nice to see you get some new videos up. in my experience, the ES's aren't as consistent for the first 150 to 200 rounds. that's just from shooting and reloading for F-class for 10 years. it's great to see you got a new barrel. what barrel is it? it looks like it is gonna be a shooter.
The barrel is machined by Straight Jacket Armory and the blank is a Shilen. 30" with a EC Tuner V2. It shoots really good too. There will be videos in the future... I shot my 1st F-Class match a few weeks ago with it and I am very happy. Thanks for watching!
@@mattsreloadingbench sweet, that's awesome. what was your score? which range was it at?
@@reloadingfun it was in Louisiana in Grand Cane. Long Range Alley Rifle Club. My score was 586-21x I'm very happy with that. 600 yards
@@mattsreloadingbench yeah, I'd be happy with it. that's pretty good, especially for your first match. was it a calm day or did you get to experience the joys of some nasty conditions?
@@reloadingfun it was fairly calm. There was a 6mph side wind that was opposite of what the flags were showing. It was really weird.
Those things are the berries aren't they? Lol

Get rid of the Bi pod, good things will happen!!!
You are correct! At the time I shot this video, it is what I had available.
Would be a lot more interesting video if you had a target cam
I agree. That is something I will try to work on.
You missed to provide information on rifle. Is it Uintah Precision? Also have you tried StaBALL 6.5 with 224 Valkyrie? It should give much larger velocities that even with 88gr Hornady ELD you should reach 2700fps. that should give you far more chance for modes with low SD.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
I plan on using the 6.5 Staball in my begara 6.5 creedmore with 130 grain scirocco moly coated what is a starting load you would recommend Norma large rifle brass and CCI 200 primers
I wouldn't be able to tell you any starting point specifically. Look in a loading manual and see what max is. Then back off up to 10% and work your way up. I personally have never used a 130gr. The lightest bullet I have loaded for 6.5 Creedmoor is the Barnes 140gr. Thanks for watching and have fun with the process!
After more than 50yrs @ the loading bench I can tell you that seating depth will tell you more than 1/10th grain of powder & cost less in components & barrel wear ! With cases as large as the 300prc work up in 1/2 gr increments to get the velocities & ES you need , refine seating depth , then test different power charges + or - a 10th . Just a suggestion to save you time , money and barrel wear . CHEERS AND GOOD SHOOTING
You are correct. My reloading styles have changed over time and for certain stuff, I'm showing different info and how to get it. Thanks for watching!
Speeds thru a chronograph would have been cool ….good work 👍🏽
I agree. But in this case, my primary focus was just the group size. Thanks for watching!
Would love to see more 300 prc videos
@NorthenMNbeard what would you like to see? I am open for suggestions.
@@mattsreloadingbench honestly would be interesting to see some 205 berger load work ups with retumbo or magnum or vv n570 possibly.
@@NorthernMNbeard that is something that I could work on. But it won't be until at least fall time.
Americans 😴
Land of the free, home of the brave!
what round?
6.5 PRC. H1000. 153.5gr Berger. Federal GM210M primers
How do like the arbor press?
I like it a lot! I like being able to see if I have a bullet that seats differently and that gives me the ability to mark it
Good luck
@seetownwv thanks!
What ammo and gun you using
I was using the Christensen Arms MPR 6.5 prc. I was using hand loads with Hornady 153gr A-Tips
That looks bulletproof. I like it.
I love this setup!
You can reduce SD by using Mandel in place of ball expander. You will need to try a few sizes. Also coating the bullets bearing surface with neolube2 it will instantly lower SD. Neck tension and release friction has a large effect on consistency
I use a mandrel and neolube in case necks.
try retumbo and 140 berger hybrids i shoot a 6.5 x284 N and get 2990 with es of 7and sd of 5.......
I will look into that in the future. Thanks for watching!
What projectile are you using?
153.5 Berger Long Range Hybrid Target
Play with seating depth and different primers and bullets ( Federal Match Primers-Berger Bullets 140 Grain Elite Hunter) might do to lower the SD's and ES's
I might do that down the road. Right now I am pretty happy w8th what I am see8ng. Thanks for watching!
See if sorting primers shrink those SDs and ESs
What do you do to sort primers?
Weigh those primers down to the .02 grains and bin them together by weight. Some see more consistent velocities when the primers weigh the same. Heavy primers equal higher velocities than lighter primers. Need to use a scale that can measure that difference.
@@bmghunter5966 unfortunately I don't have a scale that can do that.
Maybe just bin them by the .1 grain for now to try. Should at least give you a high and low weight set to test SD with.
That 57.0 load looked outstanding. No verticle and dispersion was tight.
You should have developed the powder charge with the lowest SD and ES first the experiment with seating depth. You need a chronograph in order to do this effectively. .
You are correct. Learn from my mistakes. I did. Thanks for watching!
What does that unit weigh in at ? I am looking at that same one on Amazon 233 bucks.
