He was an excellent actor who was well suited for the characters he portrayed. He never could hide his level of high intelligence very well. He had class and Grace. He was probably the sanest character in One Flew Over The Coo Coo’s nest.

Years ago I entered Buddy in a battle of the bands in Fort Collins for five dollars. He played powwow woman and beat four other bands and won $100 & gave me $50, It was amazing & powerful & spiritual, Mitako ye oyasin

I was unaware until recently that he had never acted a day in his life prior to Cuckoo's Nest. Michael Douglas and another producer saw him at a rodeo, a profession Will was part of for 20 years. When they saw how tall he was they thought he might work for the role of Chief. They said they didn't even have him audition they hired him on the strength of his interview alone. He is absolutely phenomenal in that film, he's the heart and soul of it. No matter how many times I watch it, I cry every single time when he breaks out that window. Unbelievable he'd never acted before that! A hell of a man and a great spokesperson for the Native American people! He died far too young.

So it's 2023 I grew up in Virginia a Washington fan my whole life and until I just watched this old episode which was great btw thank you for that native son news and gotta be honest when the name was pulled from my favorite team I was mad but after seeing this and listening to the natives on here I get it totally and respect the decision to have it changed now

Will Sampson gave us one of THE most iconic scenes in movie history at the end of One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest when he tore out that sink and smashed the wall! Not to mention the popularity of juicy fruit gum!

Came across this from One flew over a cuckoos nest - glad I did - really nice and interesting - like the bit about 'they think potatoes come from Ireland' - native Indians actually sent us maize during the Irish famine, something we should never forget.

WATCHING THE MOVIE ONE FLEW OVR THE COOKOOS NEST... .CHANGED MY LIFE. Was a teenager when i saw it.. .Decades later...IT STILL REMAINs MY FAVORITE.(..IF I HAD TO CHOOSE.) but thetes SO many AWESOME movies from the 60s 70s 80s.....

I just love Will Sampson, but he died so young. The first time I saw him was in a thriller motion picture movie entitled: Orca, The Killer Whale, with Bo Derek, Richard Harris and Charlotte Rampling, back in 1977. He had such a cool personality, a warm soothing voice and he also had a great accent that sounded from New York. Thank! you for this magnificent presentation. Johnny, Montréal, Canada 🇨🇦
