This song has it all. The way the music and the vocal variations complement the story, the brilliant poetic lyrics, the sick riffs and backing solos they used to have, etc. It's among the most brilliant songs they've made. I just found your channel, and it's a gold mine. I confess their lyrics always went over my head, because Dani's vocabulary goes through the roof, and my knowledge of mythologies or literature in general isn't that great, so I often have no clue what he's talking about. Metal "purity" was always a problem for me. I remember in the '80's that wearing the wrong T-shirt to a show could and often did lead to mockery and violence. Varg and Euronymous were definitely edge lords and fed off of each other's negative tendencies. They also attracted vulnerable people who they may have manipulated to negative consequences. I do like the music though.

CoF is my absolute favorite metal band! I discovered them when Dani Filth did a collaboration with Twiztid called Neon Vamp (yes, the first time I heard Dani, he was rapping 😅) It was my favorite song on the album, so i checked them out. I am not a metal head at all! But i couldn't get over how amazing their storytelling is. That's the end of my rant. Thanks for your video. It was beautiful.

I do think this is one of their best songs of the álbum, the ending is so poetic and epic, the guitar riffs are fantastic along with the keyboards, it is impressive what they do in order to create the perfect atmosphere of the song

I've always believed that his beloved also took her life because of how repetition is phrased in the beginning and in the end. That kinda makes the whole thing even darker. As for other songs that always impress, I think The Death of Love, Heartbreak and Seance and the whole Clarissa trilogy are in the same tier for me.

This song!! I cannot believe that you reviewed this song!!! I'm so very glad that you did! As you said, it is a masterpiece! This one has a special place in my memories because it is forever linked to a, let's say, uncomfortable phase of my life. Although I had a rough time, I feel somehow nostalgic whenever I hear it. Fortunately it isn't related to the song's ill-fated theme but yet, it was love related (or lack of it, from the loved one). I still vibe with the song aggressiveness and I love to sing along!
