In this first episode of LANDBACK FOR THE PEOPLE, Nick Tilsen sits at the table with matriarch Madonna Thunder Hawk (Oohenumpa Lakota). Through numerous decades of resistance efforts, from the occupation of Mount R...
I'm extremely happy to have found this content & I'm really grateful to have gotten the chance to listen to a legend like Madonna Thunder hawk. Also i really appreciate the subtitles. (As a disabled person with adhd)
I love that Madonna Thunder Hawk talks about how arguments going back and forth get nothing accomplished. If you disagree with someone, you can still listen to them speak and be quiet. And after they speak, you can move on to what matters for ALL, and still keep your disagreement. Everyone's point should be heard.
I Love the way she talks ..reminds me of HOME
I Respect Madonna Thunder Hawk so very much as a role model
Yo shout to Freedom Side Live bringing Nick on cause these comrades are seeeeerious. You have a new listener my friends. Free the People. Free the Land. ✊🏾🇵🇸🇭🇹🇨🇬✊🏾

i know this is a taboo question, so for context, i am 15% indigenous puerto rican - boricua arawak, my dad is more than a quarter indigenous with his mom being half and his dad being a bit. Mr. Tinker looks a lot like my dad and siblings so i was wondering if Phillip has disclosed how many generations down or blood percentage Osage he is. i’m not disputing his claim at all and totally agree with his identity and culture, and i relate to him which is why im asking ps: my name is also, philip
Love you Macklemore!
Loved this podcast and learned so much ❤🇵🇸
Nick, this show is really funny; very dry -- I have to admit I forgot that you're just doing a clever bit. Well done; love it!!!
I live by Mack! And his kids went to the same Halloween parties in Capitol Hill. He's doesn't walk the talk. He thought I was there to steal from the party. He's a short white guy. I'm a tall brown native. So watch yourself around him. He's definitely racist!! He dressed up as an old person.
I swear to god every white guy with good takes turns out to be irish, the one and only good western nation
He's the goat
I attended the 1980 Black Hills Gathering. Being non-Native, but knowledgeable and with friends as referral, I was assigned to security to deal with the hippies. 😅 Amazing experience. A lot of culture clash behind the scenes. Jokes aplenty. Wish I still had the poster, I probably gave it to someone. Tons of great speakers, and musicians, Native and non-. One of my favorite moments was meeting and chatting with Floyd Red Crow Westerman about his music. ❤ New subscriber ❤️💛🖤🤍
Good to see that the solidarity between Native Americans and the Irish (both From Ireland and the US) is still going strong

Finally a settler that isn't a stupid wana be viking or colonizer terrorist. Who is DECOLONIZEING his own socially conditioning done by his own race. That's good 👍🏽
Finally a settlers thats not insane, or a wana be stupid viking colonizers and is actually freeing himself from social conditioning. I must say, they're rare. Like i think hes the first.
DECOLONIZATION is a long a challenging process, for example Asia decolonizacion. But similar in that, it starts within. It is that longing, for ones own NATIVE LANGUAGES, ones own NATIVE CULTURE, ones NATIVE SOCIETY, AND ones NATIVE BEING wich colonizers forcebly try to take away . So when ever you see people literally worshipping idols that resemble Macklemore race or none color, literally the empire who invaded. It is because the decolonizacion process has not started within themselves and that is sad. DECOLONIZE 🦅🪶
I so needed to hear this. Thank You, Madonna Thunder Hawk, and thank you, NDN Podcast, for interviewing her. Imagine if we had live interviews like this of some of our amazing leaders from the 1800s. Fortunately, we do have some of their words written down. Interviews like this with Madonna are invaluable. Her message about keeping it simple resonates and is fuel for what I needed today. I have some writings to complete to highlight issues of our people which include LandBack. Thank you so much.
Thank you Madonna Thunder Hawk, for standing up for your people. It's time for indigenous and aboriginal nations to take hands and unite. From South Africa, Khoisan nation - God's people.
Gotta love Mackemore. Respect ❤💚🖤
Thank you for this podcast 🙏 I want to watch Lakota Nation vs. United States but I cannot find any platform that offers it in Europe. I’m located in Germany. Anyone has a tip?

Thank you both so much for this beautiful conversation. Goes to show how important it is to come together, talk with each other and, most importantly, listen to each other. So much understandig here, loved every minute of it my brothers ✌🏼

Land back to its people… it‘s self-determination time… solidarity from the MENA…
Time.? We must thank the elders, our ancestors. They've preserve this knowledge. Against all odds. Literally. 🤮🤮🤮🖕🏿 Europe
PYM.
Macklemore | LANDBACK thank you Sincerely.
Great interview. I’m trying to adopt some of y’all’s optimism.
I think there is a possibility of returning all lands private and public back to the indigenous peoples. It is not about chasing anyone off their land. That is a settler mentality. We can arrange some kind of cooperative access to the land, that respects humans and nature.
He's saying (almost) all the right things now, but I won't be convinced it's not performative until he's been consistently pushing for these things for a while. But for now we'll take all the Palestinian support we can get, even if it's performative. I am glad this podcast episode hit the algorithm though since now I know about the podcast. Seems like some great work you all are doing
Using your social and economic capital for good brining attention to imperialism 🇵🇸❤️ THANK YOU
Great conversation! Macklemore please tell me you have told your daughter about the Holocaust, desecration of Buddhist temples and forced relocation of Dhali Lama, all the horrible genocides, etc. Mother Earth and her people are sick and tired of thoughtless, blackout warfare and destruction of the planet.
I see the point. But has nothing to do with us NATIVES or this lands.
Or what the settlers race did here. And to us. Literally took away everything.
Stoled 🐀 like a sewer rat.
And I'm native. And trust me. I believe that even we know about them. Also.
I am listening and enjoying this dialog. Can we talk about the root of religion driving these wars? What was the land called before Palestine? Before Israel? History of BOTH peoples goes way back BUT, Hebrew language spoken there for thousands of years. Also, WTF up with Hamas and Netanyahu? They are BOTH responsible for civilian casualties. And don’t get me started on military industrial complex fat cats! Murderers.
His voice is soothing ❤
Thank y'all for lending strength to keep showing up as a white American to support land back. Haskell Indian Nations University recently asked outright for land back of wetlands threatened by development. There are accomplises for this movement, including our youth!
And to any white not accepting returning the lands, Now know how it feels like. Lucky they aren't being forcefully removed In this very moment.
Only they are capable of such things they've done. I believe that's why nobody wants a war.
