Guillows SBD 3 Dauntless
This video documents the building, modification and flying of my SBD3 Dauntless. The Guillows kit was built with all scale fittings. Electric motor, speed controller and 3 channel RC were installed. Much thought and planning was involved in providing a battery hatch, servo mounts and control surfaces. Bags of down and right thrust was built in and c of g was forward of that recommended. A perfect damage free maiden was acheived.

Exploding Soda Bottles

First, insert a car tire valve stem into a soda bottle cap. Then pump with compressed air. Place at bottom of garden and if your wife is out shopping, shoot it with your air rifle. WARNING, this is a hazardous procedure throughout. Do not attempt this at home. If you do, then you could be maimed or killed!. If neither of these happens to you then you will have a very satisfied feeling!
Parkzone Spitfire in February 2013.
zhlédnutí 121Před 11 lety
This is the second flight of my Parkzone Spitfire Mk9. With all the Parkzone aircraft I have, careful assembly and adjustment before launching results in a perfect first flight with little trim adjustment necessary. Battery is a 2200 mAh 3S lipo. Receiver (PNP) is an Orange DMS2 with six channels a satelite. I have not fitted the supplied undercarriage, preferring to "belly land" on the rough g...
FPV, Snow Saturday
zhlédnutí 102Před 11 lety
The sun came out , the wind was gentle, my batteries were charged and out I went. Zephyr was initially out of trim, then started to yaw in an annoying manner. On landing I found that the starboard wing end plate had come loose probably causing the problem. This I have since repaired with lashings of Copydex.

Christmas Day Church Bells West Halton
how did it fly?
It flew first time from my hand, at about 30 degrees , full power as straight as an arrow. Half power, cruise, at 100ft. Trim adjusted to allow steep banking turn, with leveling of the wings stopping the descent at eight feet, to fly past me and repeat. Accurate building, forward CofG, down and right thrust essential. Flys as well as my 800mm FMS warbirds.
@@brooklandvideo -- that is great
Great job!
Thanks!
Vacuform parts and I have a somewhat tense relationship but I really like that a stick and tissue kit has the crew guys. 👍
I Agee, pilots and bombs very difficult. Did you notice my dope and rip stop nylon covering?
@@brooklandvideo Yes! I did look and think, _"Wait a minute, are those ripstop squares like in the fabric my kites are made from???"_ 🤔
are they as good as the normal engine with the single action cylinder?
They produce more power , but need real steam oil in a reservoir.
Very nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome video I always love the sound of church bells and I wish I could ring a church bell it would be so fun!
Glad you liked it. A unique experience for us!
Where in lincolnshire is this? We fly FPV around Caistor
North Lincolnshire near Winterton.
Goggles working now. probably battery failure in the cold.........
Yeah I some what know the feeling as I didn't know my way back home after fog had moved over me. But I still had video feed so I always could have found a place to land the plane. It must have been scary with all that equipment and that plane. Did you get the goggles to work again after warming them up? The whales were magnificent yes. Thank you :-)
Yes, heart in mouth and sphincter puckered, but got it back and warmed batteries continued to function!
Thanks! This is my best yet. It envolved organisation, pain and fear. Organisation started the day before, checking sunrise time and batteries and weather. Pain was in my hands as I was flying in the cold for about 40 minutes and fear as my FPV goggles and OCD malfunctioned in the cold and I had difficulty finding the Zephyr in a dark misty sky! The flight started FPV and ended LOS ( line of Sight). Oh, and I like the whales!
Wow that is a magnificent morning flight. Subscribed and regards from Iceland
Many thanks ,, very cold , but acheived my aim!
I was using a 12X6 which accounts for the reduced thrust.
Sweet ZII Chris, what beautiful country. You have the softest LZ I have seen.
We are fortunate to live here, many thanks.

hmm a gyro for that flight? i fly mi squall without a gyro with 80A ESC and Engine.... i think that youre vector unit is in wrong position... check wI2ARUyFtIU to see what Squall vectore trust means... ( from 3:45...)
Gyros are for experimentation.
Thanks, but essential when landing these small helis on grass.
nice landing pad there dude
Constructed from waste tennis court mat.
nice landing pad there dude
I kept costs down. I use 2200 mAh 3s but original ESC. I had one servo fail (elevator) and changed it like for like at a cost of about 3$ US as an experiment with cheep servos. Basically fly stock otherwise. I'll modify it after I bust it !!!!!! After 20 years flying I don't bust much now!!!! ;-)
Wow! Old Warbird converted to a "Reno Racer" then.....!
So did you buy one?! ;-)
Why, yes I did. But a bit of a harsh landing there I think! Hopefully no damage.
Did you check my channel and see my maiden?
Thanks. I have a 2200 3S that I am going to use. It should help it's some. I noticed after the flight that the ESC was hot. It probably could use a bigger ESC/BEC.
Hi! Top speed can only be estimated at about 30 knots. This is essentially an EDF powered glider by its configuration. The supplied battery is to light to give good duration or good scale flying characteristics. Have you tried a larger battery in yours ? What do you think?
How fast do you think top speed is? I have not tried a high speed pass with mine yet
The gyro basically stabilised the roll until i could trim it. Also there were convection currents over the field that would flip the squall onto its back. The gyro prevented this and made it easier to fly straight and level. The gyro is turned almost to its minimum setting to prevent oscillation in the roll.
original super sixty was single channel - ruder only ! I had one with a 3.5cc AM diesel up front. No problem .
From Saito45 fourstroke to electric. I rebuit the wing to accomodate ailerons and flaps (dive brakes).
I got 3kg of thrust on a eflite power 32 using a 14x7 prop & 4s 4000 lipo & 60 amp esc.Getting only 2Kg from a power 46 seems too low.
From what i can remember battery was 3S and prop was 12X6 which is prbably too smalll for max thrust.
ripmax333, Ill measure up the control surfaces. No problems with controls. The one thing I would recommend strongly are full depth plywood dihedral braces.
ripmax333, Ill measure up and post for you
originally the super 60 was designed as a 3channel model. did you find any problems with ailerons? for example (adverse yaw) and can you give dimensions lenght and with of the ailerons? and dihedral ?
The dihedral is reduced, the main spar is over built together with all braces. Nylon and dope covered. No adverse yaw noticed.
Nice Place To Put Your Head To Read The Scales :-)
I rotated the scales, thanks for warning!
Nice flight and it doesn't pollute!
Not unless fragmented foam spreads around the field!
could be a very usefull piece of equipment
Yes, Andy, Still useful after 15 years!
