English Vocabulary building for writers: Writing course: Tools (part 1): Vocabulary
The first step in developing writing skills is expanding your vocabulary base.
This doesnât mean memorizing big, fancy words. Itâs more important to be able to use natural expressions, precise language, and varied wording.
In this video, I outline some of the categories of vocabulary this channel will focus on and provide some examples.
đ Best way to improve vocabulary:
1. Read⊠a lot!
2. Keep a notebook of new words, including other forms (parts of speech) and synonyms.
3. Use the words!
Join me every Thursday as I post videos to help you build your vocabulary base.
đAdamâs English writing course includes videos posted every Monday and Thursday to help you with the steps above. Donât forget to subscribe, or join the community (starting June). For a deep look at grammar, become a member (starting July 1st).

Hi Adam, how is it going? I always have trouble with noun order. If I wanted to say : " An early version of Titanic movie..." , can I make this sentence: "An early Titanic movie version...."? Which is best? I could also say: "An early version of the movie Titanic..."? Thanks,
precision is good, yet what about word formation? Suffixes, prefixes and so on?

Long time no see Adam How are you man ?
hi Adam! so nice you are back with your super helpful lessons !!!
Hey Adam đ
Here's my reply, at last! I 've held this doubt in my mind for about 10 years, not finding anybody to clarify it until I found your channel. Excuse for my delay! The following is a full quote from page 183 of the book "The Third Chimpanzee" by Jared Diamond. I have split it into several parts just to show where the rule applies and also where it doesn't. As far as I understand, examples 1,2, and 4 are according to the rule but not so example 3. "For example, animal domestication arose partly from (1) people's keeping captive wild animals as pets, partly from (2) wild animals' learning to profit from the proximity of people (3) (e.g., wolves following human hunters to catch crippled prey). Similarly, early stages of plant domestication included (4) people's harvesting wild plants and discarding seeds, which they thereby accidentally "planted"". Shouldn't number 3 be "wolves' following"? Of course, it could also be a typo.
Happy days came again! Welcome Back Sir.

Hi Everyone. It's good to be back. Thank you for helping me reach 300k subscribers. Tell your friends they can also learn to write better in English đ Just a quick note: the website (2:19) has many resources, not just one. That was a typo. Sorry about that.
