linux is good if you wanna surf the web & search for multiple commands to work with for hours which you handle visual normally. besides, ditch Mint if you wanna just have a windows alternative or expand pc life. if you have no social life, do the real stuff and choose between Debian or Arch & no custom os

disclaimer: I considered using Linux Mint before this video. most of there was kind of rants to me. you start windows, and It works and have good UX/I options/choice for majority of users. Well I think the fact that so many Linux desktop environments give more options for customization is that they are not as well designed as windows and mac UXs. And I found the customization is more of a wrong behavior or weakness than a power/skill/productivity behavior or things like that. Cause most of the customizations are like "I just love this button to be here" (more subjective than effectively efficient) The adaptability is more of skill than this. (Like how we het used to different video games keymap or shortcuts and forget about it in a short period of the time. Or we get used to different programming languages/Frameworks syntaxes and rules. Why this One shouldn't be like those?!) Secondly we can use some software to remove get rid of some of the bloat on windows. don't remember the name. I think I got it on GitHub. It worked really well. But overall, this is windows. they can make lightweight like Linux. They had to make money of it while this is not the case of nature of Linux. About the other options like renaming (or some additional features) I'm at the same boat as you, unless windows have things like power toys.

I have no clue why someone would do it constantly. I sometimes use the button in Windows Explorer, because I downloaded or created something and it doesn't sort the list alphabetically again. But other than that, why on earth should someone refresh the Desktop repeatedly? I only ever needed it when Windows was bugged and didn't show the changes right away, but this is very rare. The only odd thing is that I sometimes accidentally press the right mouse button when I am scrolling through a mail, no idea why my finger does that. But that is a subconscious bug in my system, not like actively selecting the refresh button from the menu.

Here are a few simple tasks I do when I use my laptop: 1) Windows management. I have two apps open in two columns next to the taskbar at the bottom and the apps menu at the top for each. IDE+Browser, Mail+Word, CZcams+Telegram, Game+Reddit, etc. Mac has split view, but it's a mess and there are a lot of apps on Mac that can't do it. Why? Because of the Mac ideology, this screen is not a screen, but an application! No windows are allowed. I bet Tim Cook lives in a house with no windows! When he needs to look outside, he builds another house with "the outside" in it. What should I do to see result of what I'm doing in the IDE in realtime? - Buy an external monitor or two and move my head around like I am at a hard rock concert! The Mac interface is made of stupidity. 2) Delete button - I just can't delete a letter. Of course, press right and then press Backspace. It just works. For backward people. Also take screenshots of your iPhone camera screenshot. Why not? I often see people do this. Retarded people... retarded people are everywhere. 3) Convenient language switching, the correct keyboard for Cyrillic and Chinese letters - it just sucks on a Mac. I don't need the paragraph symbol, I need the damn letter Ё. Shift+6 is a dot? Apple, are you nuts?! 4) insert, delete, home/end, page up/down, print screen, numeric keypad, mouse and 108 key keyboard all matter if you are a software developer, and I am one. None of this matters when you're using a Mac. This system is disabled like a paralyzed sprinter. 5) The file system is hell. You might say: oh, it's like Linux! But Finder is not, Finder is for searching, not for working. Creating a simple file anywhere is an impossible task on Mac. I was forced to use the terminal command "touch <path and filename>" because the terminal is much easier to use than the MacOS GUI. So now I remember every file, every config I've ever created. Why do I need it? I don't know, I need to complete the task and move on. But now my brain has a huge legacy of memories of every file I create because Finder sucks. 6) Mobile chip and the joy of exploring the capabilities of a computer. Yes, their arm processor is a mobile chip. So when we talk about gaming, Mac is clearly the loser. BUT! THERE IS ONE MORE THING! And I'm telling you about neural networks. You can't run a local neural network (of course you can, it would be ridiculously slow) without a GPU with a lot of video memory. Virtual machines, Linux, game development, UE, ray tracing, etc. Forget about these tasks if you use a Mac. Want to write an application to calculate the trajectories of stars and planets for nebula clusters? Forget about it. Start your CZcams career. Become another faceless graphic designer or video maker. Do something DJ-y. It's 2024, your creativity is for children's play, not innovation! That's what Mac is. Twenty years ago we studied Pascal, BASIC, Adobe Flash. Today it is distributed computing and robotics. It's simply impossible to learn or do anything on a Mac if Apple is against it. 7) To be or not to be. Let's talk about price. Of course, if you live in the US or Germany or, I don't know, one of those rich countries, a Mac is good enough, even cheap, if you want a typewriter with HULU built in. But if you are a school teacher in an Eastern European country with a small budget for a computer lab, say 10 thousand dollars - now we can talk. For this price you can buy 20 computers for the computer lab. Hell, even for the office. With 24" monitors and peripherals. Or you can buy 4 of the cheapest Apple Air laptops (with a 13.3-inch screen) as typewriters. 20 PCs versus 2-6 Macs. If you buy the cheapest chinese crap, it will be 30-40 pieces. The simple task was to simply be. Mac didn't succeed.

I am actively getting used to Linux. You can actively start to try it yourself by installing VirtualBox and making a virtual machine with the linux of your choice. This won’t run games in a virtual machine. If you wish to try to install linux on your computer, I strongly recommend replacing your hard drive (SSD) with a separate or new one to install on. That way if/when you want to go back to linux, swap your Windows hard drive back into your computer. I recommend looking at three options: Linux Mint, Pop_OS, and Zorin OS.
