Honda VFR800 resurrection
Today we had the opportunity to restore this Sports Touring icon to more than it's former glory. The bike was sat for an extremely long period without being used. and the inside of the fuel tank was quite scary, so the bike received the full treatment.
It got totally new suspensions and a full combined brake hose kit, with all the brakes fully overhauled. some other minor trick bits at the customer's request and some artistic license afforded to us.
The end result was a remarkable motorbike, absolutely beautiful to ride. Hope you enjoy.

Honda Fireblade full bike build
zhlédnutí 1,6KPřed 2 měsíci
This bike is a beautiful representation of the way humans interact with technology. It's a 2002 Honda CBR954 that came in for a service with 60K on the odometer. It wasn't quite running right and needed a rebuild to bring it back to its former glory. So there's no disassembly in this video because the bike was already worked on before we decided to rebuild it. But we do get to see a bike appear...
CB1000R Minor service, majorly enjoyable... for me anyway.

Today I was all alone in my shop. I could have called in sick but decided to actually do some work instead... someone else's job.
Ducati 1198 rebuild quick overview

this is not a full overhaul. the bike just had high mileage and so needed a top end rebuild and i though it would be nice to see a complete bike emerge from a skeleton around an engine
Suzuki DRZ400 engine rebuild
zhlédnutí 2,3KPřed 3 měsíci
Today we're rebuilding a Trick Suzuki DRZ400 Super Motard. The engine suffered from catastrophic oil consumption and needed a new top end and bottom end. And while we were in there we added some bling. Discalimer: this video is not educational instruction. It is for entertainment purposes only.
Ducati ST4S Shifty business
zhlédnutí 8KPřed rokem
Today we're fixing a 2003 Ducati ST4S with shifting trouble. This happens to a lot of bikes when an internal spring breaks on the selector mechanism. The result is that you can only select gears one way and not the other. This particular bike has had a very expensive history but the owner dearly loves it and so do we. Luckily today's job was only a minor repair. But as the sped-up and edited vi...

Servicing a GSX1400, a regular day at Flywheels

Instead of a video about a full custom project from start to finish, I've been asked what a regular day here looks like. So here you go. Some nice trick bits going on a Ducati monster and a nice Suzuki gets some maintenance. Hope you enjoy.
Honda Firestorm Project - Part 1
zhlédnutí 12KPřed 2 lety
This is a 2002 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm. The owner had big plans for it a few years ago so gave it to a mechanic who gave up half way. So the bike sat in his storage for around 5 years in a disassembled state. The time has come to do something with it. This is not a full restoration, the goal for this part 1 video is to fix all the problems, add a few trick bits (sprockets, braided lines, reser...
Oil Filter Crushing... how we save the planet one filter at a time.
zhlédnutí 514Před 2 lety
gofund.me/abde4184 Every service gets a new oil filter and everyone throws the old one straight in the bin. but no one really knows exactly how much used engine oil and scrap metal ends up in landfill. So I've finally done an experiment to show exactly how much from each used oil filter can be recycled. Now all I need is an actual OIL FILTER CRUSHER to save my poor tired arms. Please visit our ...

330 mm front rotors
excellent video, great voice over
Glad you liked it!
Absolutely amazing videos, i enjoy your writing, perspective and most of all watching you get the job done.
Thanks Shiv, lovely comment, makes me happy ;)
After seeing the New South plate I looked your shop up and we are neighbours. Now I know where to take my DR if something like that happened. Nice video!
glad you liked it, hope to see you soon
The 5th gen VFR has always been a bucket list bike for me, but for some reason I always end up with something else for the sake of convenience or what's available at the time. With a throaty pipe this is hands down one of the best sounding bikes out there- the gear driven cams just do it for me. Thank you for sharing this with us- a machine like this often transcends the sum of it's parts.
I honestly cried watching this mate especially when you started it up for the test ride it's been nearly 20 years since I remember hearing it run and I really hope the owner get to enjoy it's new life thank you so much mate
Totally agree that the ST4 and ST4s are great touring machines. Highly under rated and excellent value for money. The Corbin seat is a smart move since while adequate the factory seat isn't as good.
Amazing job is there a part two this has inspired me to get my old girl on the road 😊
Do you find that these engines make a lot of noise? Idling is one thing but while under load? I got a top end harmonic vibration /buzzing that may be normal? This is my first 4 stroke dirt bike and I have no idea how it's supposed to sound. I'm used to two strokes. With the stock exhaust you can really hear all the moving parts and some people online say it's "normal". It runs great but maybe the valves need adjusting? It only has 6,000 miles on it. Stock cam chain adjuster seems good, no excessive ticking. Thoughts?
yea DRZ vibrates a lot. its single cylinder 4 stroke. its normal. 6k miles is nothing, there should be nothing wrong with it if it was maintained well. i check my valves every now and then, only needed to adjust valves once at 8k. now im at 26k and no valve issues
VFR800 5th generation one of the best motorcycles ever made, V4 gear driven cams wrapped in a racing chassis and set up as a sport tourer, can't wait to be riding it again
If you don't mind- how much was the bill? thank you and very impressive work
VERY KOOL BUILD!!
cheers bro
I think I know the owner of this VFR and I will be looking forward to be riding with him when he gets it all set up to ride it more. Also I have been looking for a mechanic who can do some work on my 1995 GL1500 Goldwing as I ride it every day of the week as I don't have anything else to ride/drive to me to and from work 5 days a week
can you give a link or the name and manufacturer to the Gizmo Tool?

I enjoyed this video
Great to hear
What is “high mileage” ?
60,000km
What torque, again?
what nice & lovely video. my cb needs and deserves a treatment like this. greetings from germany🤗
if you pay for my plane ticket, I'll do yours too. :)
@@flywheelsmotorcycles this would be nice...😃
Beautiful work, can’t wait to see mine! She runs like a dream
the bike is illegally loud ;)
nice to see you are also using German products
32:40 the video is too long indeed
Great video, really nice work, wish I had a motorcycle mechanic like you guys close by.
Aww shucks thanks
They are a classic
Thanks so much mate. I’ve always been in awe of aircraft techs. I couldn’t do it. I’m just putting the finishing touches on a video of a Fireblade full rebuild. I think you’ll appreciate it. I really appreciate your subscription
Great vid
cheers bro
What a thoughtful piece this is. Your reflections on labor and its inherent value are much appreciated. A good day, indeed. ❤
much appreciated
👍
Could be a contender for most underrated video of the day. Someone call Mike Rowe.
Oh wow. Thanks mate. Appreciate it.
Really enjoyed this.Almost as much as you.Nice to hear a human mind think and watch it work.
thanks rich. most of the time i only pretend to be human ;)
Thanks for sharing. This is one of the best times of the day, even if you are not wrenching around. Forget the world around you and jump in the world in you. I just love to work on bikes too. Do not forget you can do it even for fun, besides you are the manager. Keep the fun from your dreams and childhood, it is paying back. Hope your business progresses even more. Greetings from Bulgaria, Sofia.
Couldn't agree more!
this is brilliant
cheers
Fantastic video, I broke my ankles getting to the subscribe button. Question, have you done a deeper dive video on swapping in the manual cam chain tensioners? I have not seen it done that way, but it looks significantly easier than everything else I have seen for those .
Thanks Jeremy. The only reason they went on is because the customer supplied them and requested the installation. I'm not a huge fan of manual chain tensioners. They are high maintenance and can cause significant damage if installed or adjusted incorrectly. The standard automatic tensioners are actually easier to install but sometimes they don't apply enough pressure. So there are good points and bad points for both
nice job guys, i learned a few things, i thought you would use a solvent soak and ultrasonic cleaner on the valves but your way works good. i also never used a wrench on a philips head like that, thats a mental note to keep. i also gotta say, the farkles are kinda cool, im guessing you dont wanna do the see-thru stuff on a e/s model if you plan on taking it off-road. thanks for the video and explanation
Very nice video 👍
thanks mate
Black silastic is superior.
Agreed. That’s why I made him do it right
music and the sound of the drill tool a bit too loud... the rest was great to watch
Exzellent job!
Thanks buddy. More coming soon
That’s the shift return spring.
Correct. Its technical name is called the detent spring
Great video format. Pretty informative and useful. Hope you guys keep it up!
Thanks so much for the encouragement.
My Firestorm is coming out of winter storage today…Whoohoo ! 26 years and still an amazing ride!! Another 26 and I’ll be 95 🥸
I have enjoyed my VTR’s great torque and beautiful song for many years. She is now equipped with superbike bars for more comfortable long distance rides (there are a lot of miles here in Canada and the States :) she should get me into my eighties !
I have the same Kawasaki z400 and I would like them to do the same procedure where they are located so I can take it

What sort of gains can be found with P&P on the dyno?
Excellent camera work and narration. Keep these old classic bikes running! Thank you.
Good one! Were the valve guides checked?
I really enjoyed watching your skills and craftsmanship. I have a 2000 Ducati Monster M900ie. What is the cost of a rebuild of this kind? Thanks for the great video series
Is it possible to post the owners manual on the Kawasaki Z 400? I bought one salvaged, and lately the engine light is showing. I’m thinking it’s just the aftermarket exhaust I put on it.
owners manual won't help bro. it just says take the bike to the dealership. ECU needs to be scanned.
Good one. Alternator nut is 270Nm without thread locker as per the manual
Correct!
