Abandoned Soviet military air base near Heviz Balaton Airport in Hungary

Driving towards Lake Balaton, we found this abandoned Soviet / Russian military airbase. According to Wikipedia, the airbase was in function from the (19)forties until the nineties. The barracks housed all the Russian personnel, who lived here in the middle of Hungary in isolation from the surrounding locals. Planes of type MIG-21, MIG-23 and MIG-29 were stationed here.

Actually, this MD-80 was a testbed for a newer hushkit system designed for the aircraft to be more compatible with Chapter 4 noise restrictions.

Saddened view to see one of legendary aircraft sits on remote field, looking weary and abandoned, have no wings to fly freely again.
This is an older video of this aircraft, I was positively surprised a couple of months ago, where I found this plane totally cleaned up from the outside!
So cool! I want one in my backyard LOL! My fantasy is to buy a hundred of these and start my own airline :) - Red
The only places were you could see most of these aircrath flying are in atlanta, miami, fort loradale and San Martín.

NO, it no longer flies. The plane is parked in MBX for years, engines removed...
At least, Delta still operates this plane.

You can tell that that is a very early production model because the tailcone is pointed later models had the beaver tail cone I worked on those aircraft as a mechanic for McDonald Douglas so that brings back memories for me anyways
Also what kind of engine does that thing have lunch again I worked on those at McDonald Douglas and that does not look like a Pratt & Whitney JT8D-217 The engine cowlings are completely different almost like the one she would see on an MD 90 and that is an MD90 Anyways just asking I still remember a few things from these old aircraft

Hi attben. There are several days in a year when they have "open doors" on that airport, so you can get on the plane and have it explained to you if you are interested.

No I'm sorry, Been working with actual people from Windows, imagine that For the biggest part of TWO days! Plus they're calling me tomorrow with at LEAST two other people from level THREE tech support and perhaps a manager. Corrupted command prompts to my drives, now it's ALL of them. This is what Windows did when people who signed up for Windows 10 in the beginning, discovered that they took half our stuff from Windows 7 or 8.1 HID it and held it hostage until we gave our financial info, health care info, and first born child so we could activate "Cortanna" to tell us where they hid out s#@t! they replaced the CLEAN Windows seven with corrupt junk that's ALMOST as bad as Windows 10! That'll show us! We'll ALL crawl back to 10 after our systems crap out! Yeah Windows, the only thing that surpasses their stupidity is their arrogance! Yes CraftForce you're a class act, I'll keep the promise and I'll also check out your full sound version Thank you, I WILL be back because you know your way around Linux pretty well!

CraftForce when i start it it An error pops up in the virtual box it has something to do with ISO files i think..

Looks pretty good to me. I just bought one. What do you think about the EKEN H9?
+Luis Nunez it's definitely worth the little money you pay for it. I would call it the best value "go-pro-style" camera. I had the SJCAM SJ4000 before this one and did not really like the blueish tint it had in videos. This one is great. Just ordered a spare baterry and charger (SJCAM, which should have a slightly larger capacity and fits the EKEN H9 perfectly). Well, the battery of the EKEN is a bit weak...but other than that, i see only upsides.
+andromedar1977 Agree man. Mine Just arrived and started recording and it looks really good. I just had to adjust Exposure to -3 I believe? But yeah stock is a little bright for my taste but it can be fixed. Mainly bought it to record my guitar and my son as he is growing(11 months old). Thanks for posting this video
