Love this channel, but wouldn’t sign up for bonfire because of the lackluster logo design of its logo.
I just came across this video, it's so good. Right now, I completed my Bachelor of business administration degree and thinking to opt MBA course. What course should I opt in MBA in order to become a CD?? Can a bba graduate become a CD?
Thankyou…🙌😎
thank you :)
Thanks for Sharing :)
I’m looking to start a museum, no museum within 100 miles of me, well over 150,000 people within 40 miles of me
This is we clear and straight to point. With excellent examples thank you!! ❤
@JGeezy216, You're very welcome. Be sure to check out the other videos in my catalog. There's tons of great stuff there!
My mentor was a CD at a fortune 500 he used to bring in baskets of fruit every morning and turned the office into a meditative yoga studio. He's now retired and wont accept anyones calls 😂
OMG, that's hilarious. I was a VP of Design at Pepsico and Old Navy and tried to keep my team happy, but a box of Krispy Kreme donuts often did the trick...plus my fighting for their interests every single day!
didn't realize this was just a commercial. It was a good one tho. : )
Not really a total commercial...but yes it was a sponsored video...but I appreciate your being able to see past the product endorsement!
@@PhilipVanDusen you're right and that wasn't fair of me to not be more clear that I had attempted a sarcasm, lol. It's due to that potential for good creators getting paid that I've benefitted from so much content. It was a good video. You've got a new subscriber.
I love how you are so ion the spot without wasting any time. Learning a lot! Thx
No problem! Not wasting your time is my motto!
What if you don't have a great brand story. its just something that you want to sell?
Stories sell products. Either your brand story - or a motivating, true product results story.
Brand story: Brand look: and feel, colors, pattern, layout style etc Brand voice: how is gonna sound, soft, friendly, comfortably, protective, there are many brand voices Brand presence: website, social channel, article, live stream, ads, content, where is presence what msg is going. Recognized, remember. Brand promise: What value bringing to customer. Mission. How we are different, how we are better? Brand equity: result of everything. Word of mouth marketing. Brand engagement: conversations and relationships.
Hey @Muhammad_Umar_! Thanks so much for checking out my video! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a detailed comment. You rock!
You are very experienced and a capable mentor but in this video you have tell what qualities are needed once you have become creative director and not telling how to be a creative director from beginning
Actually, yes, I did. You might want to watch again. AND watch this one, too. Search my channel page, I've done multiple videos on the topic: czcams.com/video/nv-RkAMCmDo/video.html
Spot on!
You rock @rogerbarganier9665!
Great information in this video. Simply made us understand the key points.
Glad it was helpful!
Hello, I am currently majoring in marketing (this will be my third year) but I want to become a creative director. Is this possible to achieve this career with my degree or should I change it. I was thinking of minoring in art or media management, my college does not offer a graphic design minor. This video was very informative, thank you!
Minoring in art won't help. Media management is a better minor. But if you want to be a CD, you have to be a designer first. Marketing is a good foundation though that many creative don't have, so that will help you, but you need to study design, either in school or on your own!
Amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
It would be useful to me as a new Design manager to hear how to give constructive criticism to juniors who have different personalities. Particularly when the design needs to be better and the junior is a sensitive person. Best Regards
Thanks @carl7445! I'll consider that topic for a new video!
Thank you sir for this tutorial❤
Welcome 😊
This is helpful.
@nguherzaki, You're very welcome. Be sure to check out the other videos in my catalog. There's tons of great stuff there!
Great video, great info. I'm currently a Marketing Manager, but I'm lookin for a way to get into the more creative side of marketing. I do photography and videography as a side-hustle so I have that sort of experience, but I'm just starting to learn graphic design. Am I headed down the right path? Should I be looking to eventually get a role as a junior designer and then work my way up?
NO. You should not get a job as a junior graphic designer. If you work as a video editor as a side hustle you can apply for a Video Editor role in an agency. Learn graphic design side by side And then try side projects of design as well. Marketing skill will be an add on in this to get more side hustle projects.
I endorse this comment!
@@PhilipVanDusen Thanks 👍
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Good evening: Hi, how on earth is person gonna be a Creative Director without being designer or creative 🤔..?? And why. That's like being a CFO but you don't know nothing about Finances 🙂🙂..!!
It's amazing how often I get asked that question Dashia...😉
I went to design school and Ad School for art direction and still can't get a job. I beg you to tell me what I'm doing wrong
Don't apply to jobs through online application portals. Make industry connections, go to conferences IRL, share value with CD's who might be hiring managers, find them on LinkedIn - and ask a local CD to coffee. Don't give up.
Ayyyyyyyyye ✌🏾💥
Ayyyyeee!💣👊
Great information. Starting out as a designer, I had a great CD to learn from, but equally leant a lot from poor CDs from other agencies I joined. Apart from the main job requirements, I aim is to remain humble and approachable to my team - this creates a togetherness - which always generates the best work. The best idea can come from anyone 👍🏻
Truth.
Thank you for making this video it really helped !
Glad it helped!
Saw this video is 6 years old, but still has good information... I actually created some videos about this topic, which I explained from my experience working with multiple CZcams clients over the last few years. Good job, Philip.
A TON of my older videos are still relevant! I'm glad you saw through it!
Thank you, nice video and interesting hints
Glad you enjoyed it!
Intrigued
Thanks @EMClipsHub!
Great info, as usual, Phil. Thank you !
@danpaterno Hey Dan! Great to see you again.,
Thanks Dan!
Excellent! I am reworking my website.
Best of luck! Your own website is always the hardest!
Excelente conteúdo, obrigado Philip.
You rock @gfmundial!
Excellent! Thank you
@dbencic, Thanks so much!~ Can you do me a favor as a small thank you? Please share my video with a friend or two! I'm trying to build my subscribers. More to come!
Honestly, I have yet to see someone who has perfectly nailed their personal brand as a designer. The only person who truly stands out to me is Aaron Draplin. PB will always be a pain point for me.
Thanks @PetersonJoseph! I'd have to add James Martin (Made by James) to that list...but there are many more IMHO.
Why? His branding isn’t really appealing, his website doesn’t even work on my iphone…
@PhilipVanDusen Oh boy, I'd love to see who would make it in your top five. As always, thanks for the great content!
Can u make a video about illustration and its profession.
Hey @vidumontv9147! Thanks so much for checking out my video - and for the suggestion! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. Keep tuning in!
This video is so detailed! Thank you!
You rock @chigozieugbejei3385!
I’m building a website specifically to ask for feedback, going to call it Peerfecter
Great idea!
Do you know I did not only save this video I subscribed immediately because the content is good
@moseskeyanisere, You're very welcome. Be sure to check out the other videos in my catalog. There's tons of great stuff there!
Can an agency do both?
Yes. Larger agencies do. Smaller agencies not as much.
Helpful, thanks.
Thanks @alinao625! You can do it! Just start.
ALWAYS DO REMEMBER THATS MY RULE
Thanks @gehtdirgarnichtsan4178!
Not trying to be negative but you said nothing in 10 mins
Hey @extremerunner, Sorry you didn't seem to get value from it, but thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate your sharing your POV.
Philip, I must commend your reply to this. I was skeptical about watching your video when I saw this comment, but it was really worth it. And I am glad I did. Thank you Philip for sharing your thoughts
I'm glad that I got out of doing standalone graphic design before the AI thing emerged. I've been doing aerial and FPV photography/ videography along with studio production work. I incorporate my graphic design skills with those projects. A key for the future is to do things that AI and unskilled people relying on AI cannot do, or do well.
Well said...and congrats on the successful pivot.
Strongly Agree
Thanks @abdullahashraf8977!
Ux?
Great video & info for a starter like me Thanks😀 again Roger
You rock @rogercliffe-thompson8998!
It doesn’t work like that anymore unfortunately, LinkedIn changed the algorithm and design so so much since this video was posted. Maybe we need another interview update ;) i enjoyed this.
I respectfully disagree. I heard a podcast with the 2 founders of LinkedIn and their suggestion was basically "don't chase the algorithm, just create great content and the rewards will come."
I simply fire them before they get a chance to put me under their thumb. You create scarcity for them in the process. I also write in my contract an indemnification clause that says my firm can opt out at anytime with no claims by either party. Know your worth.
Truth!
I love your format, but I wish the video were more educational, providing specifics about the top 7 or 10 practical ways small businesses can leverage AI, rather than promoting AI tools. I believe small businesses need to gain awareness and receive specific guidance, given the number of companies trying to sell them products before they can even identify how their specific business operations can align with AI capabilities. Small businesses require advice, strategy, and then technology enablement, in that order. Technology enablement or the adoption of tools should occur only when there is a clear roadmap that can only come after the business understands and aligns its business operations with an AI strategy. I think you are perfectly positioned to help us with that. Thanks for your awesome videos!
Hey @bladestarX, Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate your sharing your POV. I have a new small biz AI video coming out soon. Watch for it.
