    I subscribed, *Very* interesting to see a (very likely) future atheist like this. Either she will learn to better ignore these kinds of common-sense atheist arguments - like most apologists do - or the logic of these atheist arguments will eventually convince her. In this video, she is engaging with the substance of the atheist arguments honestly and in detail, and giving her true opinion about it. That is absolutely great to see, but it cannot last. I'm very curious how her faith will develop. I don't give her continued faith a high chance. But who knows, I could be wrong! Antonia, if you happen to read this, I'll give you one more atheist argument to honestly engage with. Think about it carefully, it is a classic! You said that God is not evil in the old testament ( @8:20 ), and that the rules in the old testament are just as valuable now as the were back then ( @8:55 ). But God has said very clearly in the old testament that people can be bought and owned as property, and that because you own them as your property, you cannot be punished for non-lethally hurting them with a rod. (Leviticus 25:44-46 and Exodus 21:20-21, among other verses) If you believe what you said in the video, then there can be only one conclusion from this: If the old testament is true, then God is an evil being for having these specific rules about owning people as property. Or if God is not evil, then he cannot have given those rules, which means that the Bible is a fake book.

    You didn’t debunk anything. You just gave your twisted interpretation of understanding the Bible, which is not the same as actual scholars of the bible. Leave the interpretations of the bible to the experts. You know, the people who actually got a PhD on the subject of the history of the Bible and how it has changed over the last 2000 years.

    The thing I don't get is that the christian god is supposed to be omnipotent and omniscient, right? So if that is the case, that god should have known before creating anything that everything would fall apart and had the power to design things differently. Therefore, it is responsible for everything, including evil, and is absolutely the one sending people to hell. With that said, im an atheist, so i think its all pretend, but i believe the logic holds up

    You explained in your video that pride is a sin and pride happens to be the name used for the main lgbt movement so it must be bad. But could you tell me if being queer (gay, bisexual, trans, etc) is a sin itself? It’s been proven by science to be a completely natural and normal part of human psychology. If you do believe being queer was a sin, could you explain why god would condem humans from expressing themselves in a completely natural way?

  • @JuhoPurola
    @JuhoPurola Před 9 dny

    Atheists don't assume that an all-powerful being exists and that said being must be correct in all actions it does. This frees the mind to consider things as they truly are, rather than forcing reality to fit the two previous assumptions. Let's take hell as an example. God created everything, therefore he created evil and sin, as well as made us capable of those things despite there being no need. He then created hell as an eternal torture method to punish us for doing something he created us to do, and according to some beliefs knew beforehand we would. And the only way to avoid this is to belief in a man from thousands of years ago who we have no good record of outside of contradicting tales from his anonymous followers. This same guy also said in those tales that he would be back before his contemporaries would die, but failed to do so. And to go back to the idea of hell, God himself did several actions he would send humans to hell for but is somehow exempt from the objective morality he allegedly upholds/gives, making him a huge hypocrite and unworthy of worship. And to touch on the bit with the courtroom analogy at 13 minute mark. The courts do something God apparently doesn't, where they recognize the person who explicitly provoked the crime is as responsible as the perpetrator, and in case of child negligence the parent is responsible if it is show that their knowing action or inaction caused the child to injure or kill themselves or others. By the courts of a lot of the world, God would absolutely be convicted of child negligence/abuse as well as inciting numerous heinous crimes.

    There is no evidence for God's existence. Reasons why I'm atheist: 1. There is no empirical evidence for God's existence 2. The Bible isn't one book, it's a collection of like 63 books mashed together. 3. The gospels were written decades after Jesus's death. 4. All the popular arguments for God's existence have been debunked by atheist CZcamsrs like sir sic, prophet of zod, and genetically modified skeptic. 5. Many claims in the Bible have been debunked. 6. Why would God even create us in the first place. Christian logic makes no sense.

    If you want to understand what atheists think, TikTok videos are probably not the best way to learn. I think the second video actually made some decent points, although there are far better examples in the Bible of how evil the Yahweh character is. But atheists think the Christian god is evil in the way that we think Sauron is evil. Sure, he's just a fictional character, but if he were real, he would be evil. By the way, in Judges 11, it's pretty clear that Yahweh demands child sacrifice, although I realize that apologists have invented implausible readings of the text that pretend that he didn't. Similarly, Yahweh commands infanticide at various points of the Bible, and send bears to murder children for *checks notes* making fun of a bald guy. Those are obviously evil acts, even though they're fictional.

    So if all you need to do is repent, then it doesn't matter what you do in life. It doesn't matter whether you are a good or evil person. If Hitler shouted "I repent" he'd now be in heaven. It's an absurd bizarre concept. But it works for all those Christians that abuse children and are then protected by the church. In a single parish in Germany christian priests committed thousands of abuse cases, yet their officials try their best to protect them from the law. But hey, repent and it doesn't matter how many children you abused I guess? God committed genocides. God commanded infanticides. God condones with the Bible slavery and abuse of slaves. God created cancer, malaria and HIV. God has people tortured for eternity. So yeah, if that God would exist, he'd be really evil. It would be hard to imagine anyone be more evil than that God.

    I came to be an atheist through science. After studying biology for years, I understood the overwhelming evidence of evolution and accepted it as fact. Once there, I saw the bible could not be trusted as a true account of history since I could see the evidence myself. Logic follows that if the bible couldn't be trusted as a source of historical fact, the entire premise breaks down. Now I feel sad for religious people (or downright angry when they want to use their religion as a basis for laws or the suppression of other people). Evolutionary biology is a helluva thing.

People have suffered way worse deaths than jesus did. So his death is mediocre at best. You said god didn't sacrifice himself to himself, because jesus was the sacrifice, then in the next sentence, you called jesus God, meaning god sacrificed god. I.e. himself to himself. This is a tired argument. You say he isn’t saving us from himself, and the reason we need to be ‘saved’ is because ‘sin’ has ‘separated us from God.’ Okay. 1.) Who created sin? 2.) Who has the power to, but chooses not to, find a more reasonable solution to the problem he created? 3.) Why did he decide that being separated from him has to be a bad thing in the first place? Why can’t we, as thinking agents who are supposedly free, just be separate from him and not face his wrath? This is abusive and controlling behavior to be sure. - He is ‘saving us from himself’ in that he created the situation, fails to solve it in any reasonable capacity, goes through convoluted measures of human sacrifice to pave an opportunity for us to be saved (from him, and his actions) which still requires servitude and worship. Much less believing in something without proper reason.

  • @dippyfresh1635

    Child sacrifice was probably practiced by early ancient Isrealites. There is archeological evidence and is outright talked about in the Bible. Human sacrifice is explicitly condemned in the bible but Isreal has gone through many cultural shifts in its history(for example, it was actually very common to eat pork in isreal for a long time). It wasn't necessarily completely out of character for God to want such a sacrifice from Abraham. It was just painful and heart breaking to do it to your own child, but that is what makes it such a powerful sacrifice. Judge Jephthah uses his daughter as a burnt offering to uphold his vow to God. The Hebrew refers to a specific kind of sacrifice, olah(עֹלָה) which is commonly translated to burnt offering.

Religious people have essentially checked-out ethically and out-sourced their own rational decision making to a book written a long time ago. Only an atheist or someone apathetic to the question of the existence of god can achieve truly moral deeds since they are acting out of the goodness of their own heart without care of whether or not that makes them a good person in the eyes of a higher power. @@JohnVJay Try these questions: 1) Does God know I will choose him? 2) Will I do what God knows is true? If your answers are Yes/Yes then I am destined to do what God has created me to do. I can not freely choose God if God knows he created me to not choose him.

      @@JohnVJay You hit the contradiction if I do something God knows I won't do. How can I freely choose if the creator who decided to make me the way I am already knows my choices? Calvinism gets this right but it makes God just a being that decides are fate for who knows what reason. You then get in to the problem of: 1) Why would this God create? 2) What purpose do humans serve to a God?

      @@malirk So you are invoking Schrodinger's Cat. God peeks into the future to see what we will do and by doing so dictates what we do? The future becomes set just because God knows about it? Here's the way I look at it: If I'm reading a murder mystery, I can just read it from front to back and not know "who done it" until I get to the end. Or, I can skip to the last chapter before reading the rest of the book and then read the book through with the foreknowledge of the conclusion. Either way doesn't change the book. The book was already written before I started reading. I'm not somehow controlling the author by reading the last chapter first. If God exists outside of time (for Him, everything has already happened) and he sees all of history laid out like a picture in front of Him, I don't see that somehow invalidating free will. God knows what we are going to do, but He doesn't dictate it. It's still our choice. He just knows what that choice will be before we do, because we are living in time, and He's outside of it. I am not asserting that it really works that way, I'm just saying it _could,_ and I don't see why you see this as a contradiction.

    *Theological Question Three:* If God is omniscient and knows the outcome of all events, why would God create beings with the capacity to sin? Does this imply that sin and its consequences were part of God's plan? If so, wouldn't our sin merely be a consequence of God choosing to create us with the capacity to sin, knowing in advance which sins we would commit?

Assuming God existed in a state of perfection before the creation of humans, what motivated God to create them? If the act of creation implies a reason or need, wouldn't this suggest that God's state was incomplete prior to creation, thereby challenging the notion of divine perfection? How can God's creation of humans be reconciled with the idea of God's perfection and immutability?
