Experimental Short Film (Fujifilm X-T4)

I wasn’t exactly sure what my goal was with this project when I went and started shooting. I just knew that I wanted to shoot something in B&W, create video over a song, and practice cinematic shots. Later while editing this, I realized that I wanted to understand more about visual (and audio) interest. In other words, what makes shots cool so that you want to keep looking at them? I will defin...
My first short film (kind of...)
zhlédnutí 217Před 4 měsíci
In this video I wanted to learn more about videography so I recreated a short film. It was honestly so much harder and took a lot longer than I previously anticipated. Nonetheless, it was awesome because I definitely learned a ton. I might make a video in the future about the specific things I learned. I was using the Fujifilm X-T4 for video and the Rode Wireless Go 2 for audio. Everything was ...

MIT's loss
Bro congrats honestly. How do these guys learn these things? I know most of it is curiosity and trial-and-error but like when I was in high school I had no one same minded as me or If I wanted to apply to events and projects none of my teachers knew anything
This is the guy who ticks "Hispanic" origin.
This is very impressive! Great video.
Overqualified for MIT
my team copied that intake pivot this year and it worked so well. no idea what I would've done without that design
Have you tried being a non-white male?
Wow, impressive!
loved this
Great work.
Great work bro, you'll do great ahead!
Bro just start making videos like "stuff made here" and "i did a thing" you have a nice voice and editing
You'll do well irrespective of these rejections. No I am not saying some bs like "rejections make you stronger"!! At the end of the day the people who see you need to see YOU and not the porjects and SAT scores. They need to see you THROUGH your projects. AND THEY MISSED BIG TIME.
You're too white😂
Lockheed will happily have you 😉
if this guy is rejected, then im cooked
I do have a question, where can someone learn mechanical design s like he did
Awesome work!!
I know what was wrong in your portfolio, you werent a woman or black enough
i would say the lack of biological perspective on your medgami project might have become a no. and your first project was used in a competition
Bro MIT lost a good and hardworking person
👍
this is actually really cool. great work!
19:40 in my humble opinion, everyone plays differently, no matter what. The piano reveals what is inside, always. I tried to play WTC book 1 c minor prelude, exactly like Glenn Gould, but it will never be Glenn Gould, it will always be me playing Bach. My belief is that it is the same for every individual pianist. The goal should be to play as beautifully as each of us can possibly play. Or as ugly, depending on the piece 😂
I also got the scholarship! I may get imposter syndrome from the internship lol
Would you advise doing a Maker profile for MIT... and if so should I start learning Robotics?
If bro got rejected from MIT... I stand no chance xD
keep it going brother
Really enjoyed this video!
thanks!
Fabulous! I came upon your review while falling down the rabbit hole of “crone”…which I’m not there. I’m a 66 year old woman and had a non present abusive mother but was nurtured by a loving father who gave me the power of self identity. We all have a choice of what we want our life to be. Your review helped me to realize that this book doesn’t fit my needs! Thank you!
love this introspective and creative video <3
thanks I appreciate it!
Thanks for helping me understand why this is considered such an important/universal work of art!
Thank you Tom Blake!
Very nice
thanks bro💪
great work, looking forward to the work you do in the future!
Much appreciated!
watching this was a really pleasant experience
omg I watched that film a few weeks back haha what a coincidence!! I think your film could've used some (or different) color grading but great work! I'd love for you to check out my short film on my channel!
It is not a cringe. Last shot with "why not" is out from the color style of your movie, i think
Well the color should be the same since I didn't color grade any of the shots. But I agree that the last shot is over exposed since I was shooting in sunlight. I wanted to get separation of background but I had to stop down my aperture all the way to get closer to proper exposure. This is why I need some sort of ND filter. Thanks for the critique tho!
I think the original utilized sound a little better. For example the water in the shower scene is not the same volume as the dish washing, and thus adds more texture when watching. Other minor effects like zooming in on the clock also adds more interest visually. Another possible improvement could be moving the desk closer to your wall, or adding even more clutter at 2:36. There's also no reason why your monitors should be off. I think they could have been put to some spreadsheets or even canvas. The original did not have monitors but that obviously does not mean you can't take the creative liberty to. All these changes would sell the idea of being overworked more. Furthermore, lighting in the room could have also been manipulated better. I think it should be slightly darker with the lighting more on your shoulders. This way, the breadth of your shoulders are accentuated in contrast to everything else and further pushes the idea of being burdened by work. This is relatively unimportant but I think you should have typed that number out on your phone faster, and if you wished to show hesitancy have you hesitate right before pressing call. Or gone through contacts since it would seem to be someone you know well. I think it would make the following scene easier to understand, that you are calling someone who is important to you.
Overall it was a very well done film!
Oh yea I just noticed that difference in the sink and shower sound. You make a good point, it does add a sense of texture. Yea I didn't realize that I forgot to add the zoom in for the clock shot until after I posted, nice catch. You make a good point about the monitors, I could've taken some creative liberty there as well. For the note about the lighting being on the shoulders for the office shot, I completely agree. You make a great point about emphasizing the shoulders and I think that Ewungwo makes that exact move in his film. For the note about the phone call. In a creative sense, I agree that it doesn't make a ton of sense to have to dial in the number of someone close to you. But since I was focusing on the technical reproduction, I just recreated whatever Ewungwo did in his film (as closely as I could, I don't have a landline phone thing). Anyways, thank you so much for your comment! I don't know if you realize how much it means to me. I really appreciate your analysis and the opportunity to critique my work. Thanks, have a great day!
Keep it up man your doing great
The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho🫀🧠
I'll check it out, thanks!!!
Bro you don’t even need to go to school
When was this book written? Is this a famous book? Also I challenge you to apply feminist to a mans or a gender neutral individuals life. Maybe we all have different levels of masculinity, femininity, fluidity etc.
This book was written in 1989. It’s not a very famous book. I don’t really understand your question?
No ideo how you could be rejected. This is better than what a majority of MIT students do in their whole undergraduate
i watched your first book review, loved it <3
Thanks I really appreciate it!!! I hope it seems that I did a better job on this one haha.
@@cfelipef824 i enjoy both! 🌠

congrats on mellon my brother 🥳🥳🍉🍈
Thank you!!
Felipe, at what age did you start learning about 3d modeling and robotics? What programs or activities helped foster your learning?
My first experience with 3D modeling and 3D printing was at a summer camp in elementary school. I 3D designed and printed a fidget spinner haha. From there on I continued working with 3D modeling (the software is free if you are a student) and using printers I had at school. Before my robotics team, all my experience and learning was from doing personal projects and watching youtubers (like RClifeon). Thanks for the comment!
