    As a 35 year paint & drywall man, I need to say you don't apply paint, stain, laquer or varnish in the sun. Period.

    • @BigNicky77
      @BigNicky77 Před 3 měsíci

      Why are you watching an introduction to spray video if you’ve been doing it for 35 years? As I implied in the video, this is for people that don’t have a spray booth, so you spray outdoors and immediately move it inside. Period.

    • @HarrySatchelWhatsThatSmell
      @HarrySatchelWhatsThatSmell Před 3 měsíci

      @@BigNicky77 Whether or not you have a booth has absolutely nothing to do with being in the sun. In any kind of finish application, you need to keep a "wet edge". This allows the finish to level and blend. Sun is not good. Period.

    i had the same splatter issue with my earlex 5500. i watched videos and listened to people say they were spraying right out of the can and they seemed to be getting awesome results... with my same gun. unfortunately i never could duplicate. I ended up switching to the Fuji mini mite 4 and going with a slightly smaller tip to help with atomizing and the splatter went away. i only use my earlex 5500 for thinner topcoats now.. it is definitely a learning curve... meanwhile paid is $32 per quart. so i am paying for that curve. lol . great video by the way.

    Good video. I just sprayed on some wood, and occasionally I noticed very small white specks. The product is a brushing lacquer, but it reads I can add thinner for spraying. What do you think those tiny specks are?

  • @masoncoffman4090
    @masoncoffman4090 Před 4 měsíci

    You ought to weld a small drop leg jack to the back of the trailer so you don't have to carry that big floor jack around to the back every time. Or like I did with my dump trailer, I cut a couple 4x4s to the perfect length and put a handle on each one to just place under the back of the trailer to support it while loading my skid steer.

    Use the plastic mix cups from the home goods store to mix the lacquor and thinner. It has premarked lines so you can consistently add 10% thinner or what ever your running. I use a 1.4 tip and run a working psi of 29. To each his own! Just find what works and flows best for you!

  • @onepoket
    @onepoket Před 6 měsíci

    According toe Marty Schlosser, BM Advance setup for Fuji systems is: - for 4 stage or more thin with water 10:1 - for 3 stages start at 9:1 and go to 8:1 if that doesn't work Use water only (no fleotrol) and a 2.0mm aircap. I have not tried this yet though. I have a 3 stage and sprayed with a 1.8mm but had to thin the product so much i lost track of what the ratio was. The big spatter at the edges of the fan are normal for spraying BM Advance I have read. It also helps if you remove your air control valve and just hook the gun directly to the hose or hose whip.

    Definitely judge the viscosity of your paint by the way it flows off the stirring stick. 20 years as a motor vehicle sprayer and never used a viscosity cup, never even saw one. That’s how I was trained. Picking up after 40 years on different equipment with a different paint I think I will use the same method once I have determined the visual flow pattern off the stirring stick. From videos I can see it’s a slightly different flow stream than what I used for car paint back in the day.

    That pump is gonna over heat and not last long. Because, you have it to close to the wall. the pulley on the pump doubles as a fan and will struggle to pull air to cool the pump head down. I'd give it at least a foot of distance from the wall.

    For this welder, when you switched from welding steel to aluminum, besides changing the settings to aluminum on the display, do you have to change polarity on any of the wire ports? Or you just changed aluminum filler rods rightaway after you changed the settings on the screen?
