The Dangers of Over-Breathing: Why Slower Breathing is Better for Your Health #breathing
In this video, Marek explains the importance of maintaining sufficient CO2 saturation for proper gas exchange. When we over-breathe-taking more than 15 breaths per minute, breathing through the mouth, or taking in too much air-it paradoxically does not translate into more oxygen reaching your brain and body. On the contrary, the depletion of CO2 from the body inhibits gas exchange and leads to insufficient oxygenation of tissues. Simple improvements can be achieved by keeping your lips closed, breathing through your nose, and slowing down your breath rate.

    I wonder how much much of this applies to hearing loss. I truly believe mine is due to noise in the brain and being on high alert most of my life. And I wonder if wearing hearing devices all the time impede the ability to bring the hearing back. I'm hopeful. BTW you are a very lovely man and I follow you all the time. Thank you !

    Omg this saved my foot pain, I had a foot fracture and so many complications with tendon pain, ankle pain, strains, bottom of foot pain on both feet, sometimes the foot pain comes and goes so I thought it might be posture and the way I walk... I think I haven't been moving my hips/pelvis when I walk, after I trying this ,I have no pain on my foot when I walk!! the movement is rather clunky and I forget how to walk if I don't use my arms as an arrow ..

    I recently had an accident andhad a hip replacement on my right hip. I suspect that the bunion on my right foot was partially responsible for the lack of give in my system when I fell. I also had a miraculous recovery due to all the Feldy lessons I have been doing for feet, knees, hips, breathing, you name it. I am so grateful. Right now I am enjoying doing this lesson before going for a walk to try to be aware of the knee rolling in- the heell rolling out. I tried to exaggerate it with the knee out and heel in which produced a surprising result! I began to assume the classic 'mime walk' which of course is an exaggeration of the correct way of walking! Thanks so much for these lessons. I am also a fan!😊

    Thank you so much for this generous offering. I have listened to all 6 installments and am hungry for more. I wonder if what makes good posture aesthetically pleasing is that you can somehow "see" the ease and comfort the person feels in their body, and that's appealing.

    Kindly explain differentiation. I want to understand it. Thank you.

    • @FeldenkraisNYC
      @FeldenkraisNYC Před měsícem

      Differentiation is when there is freedom of movement/freedom to choose to move one part of the body or a bone relative to another., Undifferentiated movement is when both parts are moving together like one piece. For example you can turn the head and eyes in a fixed (undifferentiated way) like a submarine's periscope, or you can differentiate movements of the eyes and head - move eyes first, move head first, move eyes and head in opposition, etc. I hop this explanation helped.

    Doctor,. I need your advice. I have pain, weakness, and burning sensation in both Arms. I got my Xray done and I have bilateral cervical Ribs, I am 42 years old. I was totally fine, until 8 months ago I had L5, S1 disk herniation then one month after it I had dengue fever I became very weak and lost 10 KG weight at the time my hands and arms started feeling pain. Now I am going to MRI of cervical , my xray already showing bilateral ribs. How can i determine the cause whether pain is due to cervical disk herniation or bilateral ribs. Please advise

    Loving the book club! This discussion made me think about a couple of techniques in acting, in creating characters. When exploring archetypes, it becomes very clear that some kinds of characters have a "straight" organization and some not so straight. One could say that the characters who stand up straight have "good posture" - the kings, the lovers, the tragic heroes, etc - but they are not necessarily better characters. That is, posture varies between characters and no one way of being is better than another. We talk about it in relationship to status a lot in theatre. Jos Houben (an amazing Belgian clown) does a show called The Art of Laughter where he talks about comedy being in relationship with the vertical. (And gravity!) I couldn't find this bit in English and my French is not great but I think the illustration of our relationship to the vertical is clear here. czcams.com/video/y4cp6g_gFCk/video.html - Also in conversations with Jos, I discovered he's got quite a lot of training in the Feldenkrais Method as well!
