Most Motorsport is out of reach for the every day man. All entry level classes morph into costly super competitive classes. Even to race a motorcycle (road/track racing) for season is at least 10k + the cost of a bike. The days of guys building bikes in sheds and using innovation and engineering skills to go racing are gone.

Went on a ride on a old gsxr it's a 87 bought it new in 88 at dusk on the way home decided to take a longer and older road route home and just run it through some curves thinking ya know there could be some deer out moving around and that would be a mess for sure but sometimes even everyday life is not really a safe ride some of us have jobs that could kill people if we are not lucky sometimes. Didn't really feel the greatest when I woke up in the morning and then got gohsted by the boss and the guy who usually tells me where the next job tending block is. Got a couple bad teeth that needs pulling people die from stuff like that. It started to rain just when I was putting the old Suzuki in the garage and I thought it was cool how the day ended even though I was alone I felt like I riding like the bike was meant to be riden and I honestly think if it would have went bad I think in the middle of it I would have thought either way I'm ok with this it's just how it goes.

Of course its not just moto-cross. Friends do bicycle rides, maybe a 2 day or 1 day deal. Gravel rides in particular. Most have to drive a long ways, and pay 350.00 to sign up. Or more. Oregon Gravel is one of these big rides. Its always a benefit for this ,or for that, there are benefit rides of all sorts. But who's gonna pay the benefits of the people shelling out for these rides? I dont do it, I hate being the rube, the mark. Some act like they're proud of paying these ass nine prices and driving 2 days to ride a bicycle. I just go riding.

Ive seen it online and elsewhere "If you cant afford to play the game go home" Racing costs money. Guys get a new 250 or 450 4 stroke every year, rather than face the inevitable cost of the 2nd ,3rd, 4th rebuild when the crank and head get replaced. Just get away from the bike and keep buying new. @ 12 to 14K + mods per bike. Used is worth zip/squat. Used up smoking junk. I raced for 10 years very regular almost always on 2 strokes, Flattrack, MX, some road racing. Always had fun always worked on my own bikes at home. Now if you race at the upper level you need a spare engine, a very good mechanic or two. And be aware of the stratospheric cost of rebuilds and blow ups. 4000.00 wont always cover it. Pro level, triple the cost at least, get sponsors lots of them.

It’s not just motocross. It’s also other types of dirt bikes like enduro. I want to start doing single track. But I need a vehicle to haul my 2023 fe350. Preferably a mid sized truck. But vehicle prices have gone up considerably. All the trails are far away. (I live in Milwaukee)
