The Power of Power BI in Project Controls - by Frank Vera Barces
Frank Vera Barcés, PMP®, CCP™, MIEAust CPEng NER presented a webinar that explores the opportunities to enhance project controls reporting using Microsoft Power BI.
He delved into the key functionalities of Power BI that can improve project controls practices and increase the efficiency of project teams. The session featured two case studies demonstrating successful implementations and their positive impact on Project Control teams and PMOs.
The first case study illustrates how Power BI was utilized to streamline a Capital Project Planning Report, enhancing the reliability of schedules generated in Primavera P6. The second case study showcases the use of Power BI to optimize Cost Reports for a $1.6 billion project by integrating data from Excel, SharePoint, and SAP into a unified Power BI dataset, enabling real-time reporting.
This webinar aims to highlight the tangible benefits of leveraging Power BI and emphasize the importance for project professionals to advance their data analysis skills.
