    Load of BS. Been a million corner or end post's made up with number 9 wire and a stick or steel rod! don't need to figure 8 just wrap around the posts, drive staples in loose and shove a stick in between the wires and twist. Put the stick in where one end will hit the horizontal so it can't release. Tore out many barbwire fences that were built like this and they lasted till the wire was rusted into.

    If you can make this available for me to pickup in one of my areas, I will buy it and I would guess that a lot of others would also. I am not a fencing contractor and not going to hire one. Regular guys want access to fencing so we can do it ourselves. Not available in my area. Will buy cheap crap 6’ welded wire if I have to. Been looking for over 2 years. No luck unless I pay $250 to have it shipped to me.

    Do you have a supplier in the Houston or San Antonio area that can supply fencing for me to pickup? I am not a fencing expert, but looking for 6’ tall tied wire 4” x 2”. This fencing isn’t available anymore for consumers that I can find and have done a lot of searching for several months. Not available for a couple of years at Tractor Supply or any others that I know of. Will buy if reasonable for 300’ fence that I will install myself with my own hands. C’mon. How can a regular guy get fencing today? Not going to pay someone to do what I can do myself if I can find material…

    4 to 1 ratio for line posts. What does that mean? Is a line post different than a t post (I know what a t post is). Why not show us a video of what you’re talking about? We can’t see what you’re doing on the stretcher bar. Take ‘us’ off the tripod and give us a close up. Now I know I’m complaining a lot but I really don’t know how to do any of this and I need build this same fence this spring. You’re giving us very good information and I truly am grateful but we are watching from a distance and it’s frustrating. You used your Paslode stapler and we didn’t see what you stapled. I would like to see the stapled post. Camera on other side of the fence. I just ran across this video and I’m going to check out your channel because you do good work. Hopefully I will see better in a different video. Thank you in spite of my complaints because it is ,nevertheless, an informative video

    • @benjaminbrewer2154
      @benjaminbrewer2154 Před 19 dny

      A line post is traditionally a smaller diameter wood post. A wood post is less likely to fold over (bending metal or in wet and soft ground plough a rotation of its base through subsurface. And have a 100' stretch at a 45° lean or flat with cattle and hog pressure. (Currently contemplating the repair of a neighbor's fence that was put in during a drought with narrow hbraces 300' apart, junk thin wire just better than welded wire. With short posts driven to the spade.) A line post is something like an 8' post sunk 3 to 3.5' in the ground. I think the description of how they wedged the stretcher needs a little bit of revision. As it was said a wedge on to of each line wire (10 wedges?); both top and bottom wires which tend to be a heavier gauge need to be covered and wedged well. Also the intermediate wires need good pressure to prevent the fence from chevroning and keep the stay wires plumb. I think the minimum is every other wire including top, don't think the wire should be dented or bent at the staple but rather allowed to slide for thermal and wind movement of the fence. But being paranoid i would put two staples per wire if I could fit them without distorting the wire. If you are new to fencing and not doing it as a profession the cost benefit ratio is on hand driven staples over the gun. What I find interesting is the hbraces diagonals. Is that a single wire tensioned with a gripple? For high tension there is a wire for every two line wires not sure the ratio for field fence. I also didn't see a way to adjust the tension over time on the line wires, but might observe a bit more on the second pass through the video.

    I wish you would have talked a little bit about what each of these posts goes into? For example different types of ground cover and whether cement is needed or whatever else is needed

    • @vanmedley3413
      @vanmedley3413 Před 5 měsíci

      In typical build situations we will drive all these posts directly into the ground with no cement. You will only use cement/concrete in areas that need the extra surface area due to moisture or poor soil conditions. Cement/concrete with wood posts will cause for premature post failure as the cement will hold moisture against the post. If you have to use cement/concrete, you need to tamp gravel around the bottom 6-8" of post then put concrete on top of the tamped gravel to help some of the moisture to escape the bottom of the post.

    Do you use cement for line posts ? Im in the desert and not much soil

    • @keithtaylor3259
      @keithtaylor3259 Před 6 měsíci

      We do not use cement. When cement dries it will shrink away from the post. We drive posts. If using cement tamp soil a few inches around the post in the bottom of the hole and several inches in the top of the hole. This soil will settle in and take up the voids left from the cement shrinking.
