    Cool. Doing exactly this for the P2000T, but choosing 3D print instead of modding a case? Why do you twist the cable? You can select the drive with a jumper as well. I also prefer to use power plugs instead of soldering, so the drive can be swapped easily. Oh, and I send you a mail on the Harlequin, but no response..... On holiday?

      @ByteDelight Před 19 dny

      The professional finish of a ready made (injection moulded) case is obviously better, especially since I offer this commercially. Also, I migrated to a new case which costs a lot less time - no more manual modifying. I do print parts for that new case, which is not noticable, but makes life really easy. Check out the webshop if you want to see the new case (currently out of stock - need to finish more). Yes, was away a couple of days, just resumed processing messages.

      @@ByteDelight Weet je of je de drive select pin kunt doorlussen naar motor aan, en motorlijn gewoon kunt laten bungelen? Ik dacht misschien gaat op die manier enkel de actieve schijf draaien. Of moet je dan 4 OF poorten gebruiken die bij motor-laag en drive select-laag de motor van drive N laag zet?

      Didn't get to that (yet), but printing the TPU (rubber-like) feet does the trick so far. I would prefer softer rubber, maybe I should buy black Varioshore TPU - I have an unused roll of red that I will test it with as soon as I can.

    Hi, Big fan of the retro computer and have several 8 bit computers in my collection, I was watching your repair of the MicroAce and noticed you have a circuit diagram which I have been chasing for a while as the MicroAce was my first computer when I was an apprentice technician and as you can see from the attachment I am trying to reconstruct past glory. This attachment is work I have done in the last 3 weeks, it is incomplete as I am am getting my information from photos and would greatly appreciate if I could have a copy of the MicroAce circuit diagram. Thank you so much, Graham Lewis Coffs Harbour NSW

    There can be no AY chip in this world which would have the GI logo and a 2006 date code. GI (the IC manufacturing subdivision of it) became Microchip in 1987. They totally sanded off whatever was printed on it originally, and laser etched the GI logo etc. It must be a cheap clone.

    Heb je mooi gedaan en heb wat ervan geleerd. Wist niet, dat de RGB weergave zo slecht was. Blijft een prachtige moederbord, die de moeite waard is om jaren lang volop te genieten. Was ook mijn tweede computer, maar na de Commodore 64. Na de Toastrack kwam de AMIGA 500. Vond het een interessante video vooral als het om je moederbord gaat.

    I stopped trying to fix my spare Toastrack. I've done so many mods to it, (rewired the clock to give it a stronger output, rewriten the ROM with a few new routines, stereo output using 9 resistors and give it a speed control/pause knob). It won't fully boot with all the memory chips installed anymore. All the voltages are correct and the Diag Card says everything is fine. Very odd. Ha ha.

    I like the Toastrack board, but I hate the keyboard. I found that the 48K rubber keyboard can be attached straight on to the Toastrack case using the same screw holes. LOL. I used mine like that until I got the Harelquin 128 in my 48K case.

Ramps to 75, then 150, then I guess it's allowing solder to soak? then 245 soak? then I a slow cool down until board is determined finished? Door opens at 50C assume. O.K...gives me an idea of what to expect. Maybe I can find another video before letting mine loose.

    hello bro, i have aprobook hp laptob 6560b core i5-2 can i upgrade thr CPU to i7

    • @ByteDelight
      @ByteDelight Před 4 měsíci

      It also has a CPU socket, so the CPU can be swapped. Some sources like www.newegg.com/tungsten-hp-probook-6560b/p/N82E16834256677 show that it can be equiped with a i7-2640M, which I think is the fastest mobile second gen Core i7 chip. Those can be obtained for about €25 - €40, so not too much maybe to try! Now to be honest, a 2nd gen mobile i5 isn't that much slower compared to a 2nd gen i7 mobile i7: it still has the same amount of cores, so I'm not sure about the benefits. The 6570b upgrade from i5 to i7, got me double the cores.

    I'm going to stick my neck out here and say I actually prefer the sound of the AVR-AY, at least compared to the 8910's sound - I started searching because I was messing around with the idea of using the broken toy keyboard I have to enter notes into an AY driven by an Arduino like I did with my '1943' project except without the musical competence :). I used the 8910 for that project and will probably end up re-using it for the new one if I ever get chance to do it. Form-factor/Pinout won't be an issue for me because I'm not building a Speccy clone (this time :) ) but a pin-for-pin replacement with a sensible cost in relation to the original is cool either way and would make DIY Speccy/AY interfaces possible again for nutcases like me.

    • @ByteDelight
      @ByteDelight Před 4 měsíci

      I don't mind when someone has another opinion than me, I respect that, so don't worry ;) I will do a new video soon about a comparison of new clone chips, and some other original AY-3-8910 clones. More material to listen to ;)
