Poppy MUST have known what she was getting into. I don't believe she was THAT innocent. So when it comes to a case of it being an abusive relationship, I tend not to believe it as much. Mars didn't solely accuse Titanic of the abuse, the bullying/harassment campaign. Poppy can say she has no guilt but that is not what the court of law said. And we have blatant bullying in song and music video format, one example being "Anything Like Me," which Poppy produced all alone after dumping Titanic. Before that, she was supposed to make multiple songs with the artist Grimes, in their collaboration they barely squeezed out on song: "Play Destroy." It was Grimes who left, her problem being that it was all too mean. How in the musical project they were lacing in all their stabs at Mars Argo, Grime's quite because she no longer wanted to be a part of the bullying. Poppy has garnered great joy over how she dominants Mars to this day. As for Titanic= Puppet Master/Poppy= puppet doll... the video states this was their Acting roles, a synthetic dynamic. Is it possible that playing owner and slave led to that dynamic in their real relationship? Romantic and Professionally? Sure. But was the dynamic as extreme as the show they put on? No. And was it anything akin to what Mars Argo went through? No. Titanic used Mars. Poppy used Titanic, beat him at his own game. (Hence why she is the only famous one of the three.) Poppy cheated on Titanic for 9 whole months before dumping him for a different musician. A metal musician, what a surprise that he style shifted towards metal! Once Poppy had everything she needed from this guy career wise, a VIP ticket into the metal scene, she did with him like Titanic and dumped him. Does a Puppet Master/Master Manipulator get cheated on for 9 months? No. And Poppy showed that she could act like one when she wrote a public note addressing the fans about the abuse. It is important to note how she signed it with her real name that was always hidden before: Moriah. Is this post paint a picture that lines up with what Mars Argo said? No, however, the specific abuse Mars suffered (accused them of and has legal evidence to back it all up) was pretty much the same words Poppy would use to describe her suffering, Poppy was claiming to have went through the same thing. Poppy drags Titanic name through the mud (much like he did with Mars) and lists off his abuse of her. She highlights that he would have nervous break downs, would act manic and hide in the closet crying, pathetically "trying" to hang himself in the closet along with his verbal threats of suicide. Titanic was abusive but Poppy was NOT a victim. This is what she specifically states in the end of her address of the abuse. It is implied that Mars IS a victim. Someone who went through the same but instead of being the phoenix to rise from the ashes... someone who remains destroyed. People were amped and shocked to see their quiet queen open up. She was silent for awhile, broke her silence with this essay post which conveniently was published 2 days before her solo album would drop. An album completely themed around "Breaking Free." Nonbinary became very popular, she panders to the Queer audience with "Am I a Girl?" It was never a matter of her being out of touch with her gender, it was about breaking the committed act which was Poppy the actor vs Poppy as Moriah, herself. Am I a Girl? This is what people asked, not because anyone presumed anything about her gender but whether or not she was actually the robot she acted as for years. Am I a Girl means Am I Human. But LGBT Pride stuff was and is hot, she would further pander with her cover song "All the Things She Said" which is about a girl battling how she loved a girl: the original artists being two women who ironically were Lesbians for their persona, they were not homosexual and that revelation hurt their image as you would imagine. Interesting that she kept the "high pitched speaking voice" instead of going back to her natural voice when speaking. I can understand why she'd keep it but it's sad that she doesn't feel comfortable in her own skin with her own voice when being interviewed. She's still using that voice as a shield. Hopefully, since it's 4 years later (now...2024), she speaks with her natural voice. It was quite nice and she seemed way more relaxed when she spoke normally.
