Thank you Lisa for declaring the all white kitchen dead! It is too clinical and cold. White was classic, in the past when it was so separated from the rest of the house, . But since the kitchen is now open to more rooms, it needs to relate to the whole house. It needs to be warmer and welcoming. An all white kitchen is pristine, but it is not warm and welcoming. And it feels very disjointed, and even unsettling, when moving from a warm room, into an all white room. it is like a white color shock to the eye...uncomfortable). All White kitchen were classic in the past... but even then, they did not have all white countertops and white floors. Function comes first...If a kitchen is used as intended (to prepare food)... then white is a really bad choice. People who love all white kitchens , usually do not cook at all. But what a real cooks needs is an easy to maintain family kitchen, that is comfortable to work in.. And all white is not a comfortable or practical color, when dealing with kitchen messes.

I love the white kitchen. It’s classic. You designers are ridiculous! The green is 1980’s green. Lived it and disliked it! Adding your favorite color likes is very easy when you start with the white. There are over 200 tones of white ! Almost like an over abundance of designers trying to keep you spending $$$!

Nope, no one has a kitchen wall like ours…we have 2 walls, a long and a short one…with PHOTOS of landscapes on the…one on each…I so TOTALLY ADORE it

Shouldn’t the kitchen color always have related to home palette, this isn’t a shockingly new way to add color to kitchen

Love my white kitchen. It suits me and tends to disappear into the walls of my open floor plan. I have introduced oak in tv cabinet, dining and console tables. It just works!!! A couple of modern, mustard swivel chairs to add colour. White allows you to add the colour in other forms.

No it's not. It will never be, and It's getting old that influencers are saying this just for content. What you are saying is in now will be out tomorrow way quicker than white will ever be for a kitchen.

Totally agree with your take on kitchen open shelves. Plus, shelves catch grease and dust...yuk!

I think white kitchens look good in pictures but I'd never buy a house that has one. I just prefer natural wood tones. Even factory painted cabinets will eventually develop wear areas with the wood tone shows through. Classic designed woodtone cabinets just age so much better. Staying away from trends also allows your home age well, also.

Glad to hear someone else who doesn’t favor the open shelves in a kitchen especially. Just more to keep looking clean and orderly….not the most practical really. But, to each his own☺️

What are some design solution options for a wall with a stand-alone stove range with just a hood vent cover above it? some floating shelving + hanging pots & pans around it? Then, what kind of wall design behind it? poss tile or a wood pattern backdrop?

I’m sorry but white kitchens will NEVER be out of style. Everything else comes and goes but white always stylish!

I dislike the space at 2:40 so much. 😜 Seems too “90s/early-aughts builder’s box” for me. But maybe it’s perfect for someone else, though. 🙂 Wouldn’t you consider the kitchen at 5:14 to be a “white kitchen”? I assumed when you said the “white kitchen is dead” that it would be adding much more joyful and playful colours rather than a few neutral accents here and there, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking. 😂

Bluntly, I think it's *designers* who are tired of white kitchens. They see hundreds of kitchens a year, the majority are probably white, and the same old color surely gets old. But if you're not a designer, probably the only kitchen you deal with on the regular is your own. You aren't getting the repetitive exposure to white kitchen, white kitchen, white kitchen with an island, white kitchen with a skylight, white kitchen with a white subway backsplash, and oh look, yet another white kitchen, etc. that designers get. So you're less likely to get bored with white.

I like the direction kitchens are heading. Never did care for an all-white kitchen because it just feels so stark and cold. :)

What do you think of placing decorative items on the top of cabinets when there’s room between it and ceiling?

I lived with a white kitchen for 25 years until in could afford to replace it. Did doors just to make it tolerable but in the end I am much happier now with my new walnut cabinets.

The words of an interior designer are his/her personal choice to what the trend is. I love my White Kitchen. I compliment it with black, stainless, espresso, gray & wood tones, and it's Timeless to me. Let's not dictate what's is right and wrong in design. It's all a personal preference.

There will always be an evolution in design and I enjoy the kitchens you are showing, but a homeowner could go broke keeping up with new styles. All white is a classic look and good for resale and as you point out, you can change a few items like pendants, seating and accessories to add flair.

Who decides all this? I simply do what is aesthetically pleasing to my family and me.

My colors!

Didn't know about IKEA Kitchens. I did a DIY galley kitchen for under $7k US including major SS appliances. Huge 4'x5' skylight, new electric lighting and circuits, tile flooring, cabinets (plywood frame, hardwood fronts), 36" SS sink, SS pull-out faucet, about hood SS microwave and SS exhaust fan hood, 1 HP garbage disposer, under sink plumbing, granite countertop (2 8' slabs) and granite backsplash, painting, SS dishwasher, SS side by side fridge (36") with ice maker, electric flat top stove. Material purchased on sale before pedemic, major SS appliance after on sale. Contractor estimated well over $15K labor only. Disadvantage DIY doing it alone was slow going and many trips to the hardware stores for little things. Needed help lifting granite slab to the counter top, a friend helped framing the skylight and cutting in the roof. Was $7K worth it? No when factor in time is money but it was a good experience.

What a great introduction to modern French. What always holds me back from using applied moldings to create this look is how to figure out the pattern for the moldings that will achieve this architectural elements.

Why is not a good idea to do a bathroom with green color?
