    I don't have that silver acid I only have that gold testing acid from 10 to 14 to 18 carrot they said with sterling silver it should turn blue with 99.9 per cent purity or what colors should the acid turn

    The acid test you did were so generous of you to sacrifice your silver to do. It was painful to watch you acid test those large bars as it also makes it less valuable for you if you decide to resell them at some point. Thank you for the education.

    I've got to assume each test kit and technique is different because as I check out all the "How to test silver kits" here on CZcams I'm finding different colors for different kits and going outside I applied drops of my silver acid to a number of different .9999 silver coins bought mint direct that came up clear if I did the test on the stone but red if I applied it directly to the coin. Then there were issues with other coins that were less than pure such as sterling at .925 that got various readings of clear and sometimes light purple and these were actual currency (not clad) that "should be" what en.numista.com/ shows them to be in purity. I definitly need to do more research because the magnet test is almost worthless in most cases and it is possible my test kit which is around 3 years old could be outdated giving me incorrect readings if that's possible even though the bottles were never opened till now???

    Thanks for showing us how to test for silver. I bought 4 one Troy ounce silver on Ebay and I have no way of testing them out. I looked to see if they had 100 ratings and read the feedbacks. I can only trust them. My dad told me that pure silver is softer and melts faster. I have no clue. He also said that they turn black over time in jewelries. Now a days I don't know my true silver . Some of the bracelets and earring and rings I purchased as gifts . They turn black overtime. I was told that was real silver. There was 2 item that turned greenish over time. I was told that was not pure silver. It was probably mixed with alloy or zinc.

    coin colletors that complain about appearances of silver are having a duck right now. I giggle about it. I've seen people have an absokute come apart about flaws in silver and gold. I'm over here like ummm how do you know you have real silver or gold of your not testing this stuff? what ya think is gonna happen when you go to sell it? companies even drill large gold bars Lol bet you change your mind in a hurry buying because it's pretty instead of content after that.😂

  • @gmc9753
    @gmc9753 Před 7 lety

    You could get a scratch stone used for testing precious metals. You just scratch the edge of the bar against the stone to get a line of metal powder and put the acid on the stone. That way, no acid spot on the bar. If it's just silver plated, it will also detect if there's copper under the silver plate.

    You can buff those burn marks out with a drill buffer or electronic buffer. Just may take some work, no worries at the very least wait till they hit $40 an ounce again and just sell them for scrap ! ;-)
