Do you have any experience on purchasing a home. Or heard of anyone ones experience
We can look on our own, but it's invaluable when someone from there can walk us through and give us pointers on the neighborhood
Saw the video for under $350 1st, why most of thoselook better than these? Interesting 😊
Thank you for this, good to know who to avoid 😮😢
I'm African American, that was born and raised in Texas, why would a black person want to live there????
Because many of us are able to live a much better quality of life here, as opposed to where we are originally from.
Mexico is New Spain
I'm Loving everything about this 🥰 She is like the modern version of Ibn Battutta. There are no minorities, we share this planet with everyone else. But just like the workplace, some people contribute with their labor, others with their presence, and some contribute with their absence 🤭 I'm never leaving here ✊🏾 Have a Blessed journey, Beautiful 😘
I've been in Merida for almost two years and have had a very similar experience dating and I was actively trying. I've since given up on the apps and it's a location problem for sure. My experience dating in Guadalajara was so much better.
I know women will often go after men living in Merida who are from other parts of mexico, but there aren't that many of these men. so long distance dating might give you what you're looking for.
I love your content. I'm Ghanian living in Merida and would love to link up with you.
for sure chale! im on IG @africanaexpat
I am American, and as a child I weeped for those African children, even begged for money to give the drives held at my elementary school.😮 The brainwashing is real!
Thanks for sharing. Any info on where I can stay for 2 months? I am a homeschool mom and need a spanish tutor. Is your channel tied to business that's assists?
`for just a two months stay, i suggest air bnb. I run a language exchange and we have a few spanish tutors in the gorup. I will be happy to share the group on my IG page - @africanaexpat
Well in the states you can be Black and have money and means and still get treated like shit or treated differently in the medical system. So the fact that you’re saying money overrides race in Mexico says a lot.
I am aware about this unfortuante incident in the U.S. Mexicans see "Black people" as outsiders, who are mostly from the U.S, which they look up to. So they respect us more than anything. Most Mexicans are too busy trying to wrap their head around why you will leave your country to move to theirs. They dont have the time to be racist.
It is too hot in Merida, like dying and going to hell. I have not killed anybody.
Many of us are surviving the heat here. you just have to change your lifestyle to cope.
I used to live in Aguascalientes Mexico years ago with my partner. There was only one time that I experienced racism. I guy shouted out the N word in English. So it was someone who was Americanized who said that. Lots of colorism tho.
I am sorry that happened to you, but in Mexico we don't kill people based on their color.
They probably thought the "N" word is cool, due to its use in rap music. I dont think the person meant any insult. He was probably trying to look cool. Yes, colorism is evident in Mexico. Its very apparent in Merida.
Africana, at what price range you get The Best for your Money ? For a 2 bedroom 1 Bath in a Good Area with no car. Thanks Andres
@@LovelyDreamCatcher-mk6oq anywhere in those neighborhoods that I showed. But the south and west are underrated, so you'll find lots of good deals in those areas.
What is the part of Merida that goes tour Progreso ? and Thanks for All your Info, planning on coming for 2 weeks in November. 🙏
@@LovelyDreamCatcher-mk6oq That part will be in the north such as Francisco Montejo, Monted de Aime, Montebello etc. But anywhere noth of Centro will take you to Progreso.
@@africanaexpat Gracias 🙏 Africana.
Love your videos! I will make it to the Intercambio Language Exchange soon. I have been in Mérida for almost 2 years, I’m older than you, but I find your content informative and current. My experiences have been positive. I am no longer afraid of being the only Black person in the room, which of course, is usually the case. No discrimination whatsoever. No being made to feel unwanted. Living here is peace!
I hear you! It feels so liberating living here. As someone who have lived in many cities and countries all over, I can definitely say that Merida is a "freeing" place to live in. I hope to see you at the Intercambio, we would love to have you.
Great Video 👍🏻 The kind of rents I’m looking for. Coming to Merida Soon. Let’s stay in Touch. I’m in Sanford, Florida but looking forward to retiring in Mexico. Thanks for some Great information and Your Time. Andres
thanks for stopping by Andres. We hope to welcome you to Merida soon :)
Just came across your channel. There is a lot to consider when making such a move. Researching, planning, implementing the plan, adjusting as you go are keys to the outcomes we want. Thanks for the great advice.
Hello. Any referrals for schools dor kids?😊
Do you mean day schools? I suggest joining Merida expat groups to get some recommendations, as there are many families with young children in Merida.
@@africanaexpat okay thx u
Where ro find a realtor?
I have some trusted realtors in my team. If you are a member of any of the expat groups. you will also get some referrals there as well
Thx for sharing very informative. Neighborhoods n all❤
Yes, I was thinking of taking Salsa lessons, as well. Overdue, since I signed up for some classes in the States via Groupon, nearly ten years ago; and never attended. 😩😩😩
they have affordable salsa classes in Merida. usually around $450-500 pesos per month, 8 classes.
Excellent tips!
New subscriber! Thanks for this!
I feel we are aware of that. The aspect of living there is bringing your US salary there. 😮
yes thats a good tip. some things are more expensive down here. thanks for stopping by.
I will retire there next year but I realize the time is now to purchase

AC, you better afford the Electric Bill if you don't have Solar in Mexico, especially in Merida.
it can get pretty hot here. but many people usually acclimatize to keeo the power bill low.
Thanks for being transparent and addressing real issues truthfully! These are the topics we fail to consider before jumping all in head first! Thanks for reminding us to really consider the WHY we’ve made the decision to move abroad and still to it!
knowing your WHY is very important. thanks for watching :)
Thanks, Adeola! Great content and a lot of things to consider. Take care
Very sound advice that not only applies to moving abroad but also moving to a different region, state or province within a particular country. Thanks for sharing!

thank you! :)
I'm glad you understand this and are informing others. I would like to know what 16 pesos can get you in the most expensive state and in the least expensive state
Excellent content. Very through with just the right amount of detail. Thanks for sharing.
The people in yucatan are very welcoming but they don't like people with big mouth
Awesomeness! What is your occupation and how do you support yourself in Merida?
i run an online business. I will create another video detailing how to support yourself while living abroad
Great video! Can you link the website please! ❤
you can look into Viva Anuncios
2 bags for 200 pesos is nothing go to New York you will pay 200.dollares 😅
You don't know anything about Merida
If you are bored go back home
Please stop hyping this place up. I live here and the hype wears off after about a year. It’s hot, boring, expensive and the infrastructure sucks. And don’t come unless you speak Spanish or you’ll be frustrated. I speak Spanish and I’m sick of listening to people complain once they move here and the people refuse to speak English to them.
Merida is boring if you don't socialize and live in your own culture and don't know the language
Thanks for another informative video, Adeola!
This is so informative‼️ Thank you. Your explanation is very clear.
It's so hot there my family is from there it's like walking in a fire
Merida certainly gets very hot in the spring.
Blessings Sister! Be safe!
love your honesty and the singles event you created!
thanks for this info!! <3
Nah, it's really not that bad. It rains for about 30 minutes to an hour, and the streets flood (but not everywhere), but the next day everything is good like it never happened. Be in by 4 pm and you are good. Every morning is a beautiful sunny day, just be in by 4, that is the tree-watering time. I've been going on 4-8 mile walks all this week and it's not that bad, our people are supposed to love the sun. NOW, I did get sunburn on my lips, my fault for not wearing the right chapstick. But it is the small trash that clogs the drainage, but it's Mexico.
Thanks for your transparency. Extreme 🥵 heat and extreme flooding. Rethinking the wonders of Merida may translate elsewhere. Be safe Sister Queen!
Exactly the same for the Mexicans on the other side of the border. Arizona was notorious for flooding during monsoon season.
